#28 GXL LAN Thoughts in TF2 General Discussion

Thanks to the viewers, casters, and to Zowie and geel for the support. And thanks to people who stood behind us and watched us play. If I met anyone and talked to you at the venue, feel free to add me to Steam and remind me who you are.

It was nice meeting people I should have met a long time ago (luc and phelon, even spadez); I've been playing with some people for far too long to not have met them.

Kind of wish people didn't nest like 3 power strips into mine and fry it though

It's not comparable. We don't really have the top 4 teams here, but I agree there should be more coverage. But to think it's the equivalent of a LAN between reason full tilt epsi tlr lego is just misunderstanding the situation

#40 What We're Up To in News
EvrewsYouUnfortunately the tf devs seem to favor the feedback from the tf2 subreddit. This leaves me somewhat dubious of whatever balance changes they plan to do
Don't the people who met with Valve have a line of communication with them on matters like that?

One would hope those who met with Valve are attempting to keep in touch and have an open line of communication, even via email, in which they could discuss everything TF2, from balance to aesthetics. However, whether it's Valve or the community members involved, it never seems like it happens. I'm going to give those involved the benefit of the doubt and say hopefully at least 1 person has discussed something with Valve.

Honestly, I'd love to see this update spur a lot of good gameplay changes. I want Valve to design not only a better default HUD, but give users options to customize it like they do in CSGO. I also think it would be cool to have %'s of the amount capped a point is above each little capture point icon on your HUD. I think it would be a lot easier for commentators too, instead of always having to say "almost capped," they can just call out numbers.

I think it's nice that they at least realize there are issues with TF2 aside from not having enough hats or taunts.

numlockednone of us are expecting our skill to instantly transfer over. we're ready to work for that level of play. it also helps that most of us have fairly high levels of competitive experience in other games too, so it's not like playing a new game to be good is a new thing for us.

I mean tbf I don't think TF2 players will be bad at overwatch because it's different from TF2; clearly you're all competitive players and you understand what it takes to be good, what it takes to be at the top, etc. But other than you I don't see a lot of the people who are already switching to be moba-minded individuals. Not that they couldn't - it's a video game, not a plunge into quantum physics. But I have an inkling a lot of people switching expect the game to give them the same fix they receive from playing TF2, a very quake-esque game, with pristine movement and aiming mechanics. I just don't think Overwatch will give them what they're looking for. If I'm wrong, I'd love to try that game out.

Great mouse in almost every conceivable way other than shape

Seriously dunno what they were thinking. If you're someone who kinda just claws the shit out of things as if there was no reason for the manufacturer to make a shape for the mouse then I don't see why you would mind it

but if you're someone who questions why their mouse would have pointy edges on either side then you probably don't want this mouse

Snivywattersoni still need more context help a brother out
During the first day of i55 after the group stages, Froyotech left the tent to sleep apparently, unaware that they had to play some matches for the double elimination bracket the same day as well. They were almost gonna get disqualified from the tournament since they weren't there, but they eventually showed up and played. But it was rude of 4G that they didn't know the schedule.

This is actually not even what happened. I guess it was sort of my fault but it was more an unfortunate series of events. At that point in the day I was quite literally exhausted. Jetlag+A rather anxiety filled Thursday night left me with 2 hours of sleep (2am-4am). Since the tournament started 2 hours later than it was supposed to, I needed some kind of food, some energy to get me through the two remaining games. We went to the upper level of the venue to order food, which would've normally taken 5 minutes. Instead they somehow lost my order, and after 25 minutes, I told them I didn't want my burger since tagg told us we were going to get forfeited. didn't even get the money back.

And although I did feel pretty annoyed at the time given my mental state, I do appreciate that tagg came over to fetch us before they had to start forfeiting.

spreading rumors like that isn't even funny or excusable when youre drunk dribbling spit out of your mouth at i55

when you decide to do it when you're sober you just look like a pathetic person - both the suspect and the whistleblower

i hope the ten second emotional graduation from feeling apprehensive to feeling cool was worth the post

also kaidus is fucking awesome and way cooler than most of us will ever be

etherGo watch your own demos and enable wirehack. See how many times your crosshair locks onto another player from behind a wall. It's a lot.

nahhh i don't agree. You're really underestimating how little thought some people put into this kind of stuff. There are times when you run into people who think someone just lining up his crosshair on a wall where someone happened to be hiding around is a cheat. But if you watch the video cozen linked or even watched some of the clips with some understanding of the situation behind them, it's just weird, man. He either had the best like echolocation skills in the world on some of the clips or got extremely lucky in all the other ones. The one that stuck out to me the most was the inferno clip.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upI8NYFzhkw

If you watch that, it's one of three things: his crosshair luckily jumped while shooting the other guy, the recoil decided it wanted fnatic to win, or the cheat that supposedly "goes the extra inch" or whatever for you kicked in on someone he didn't know was there.

There's definitely a ton of witchhunting and theorycrafting but I think it's fun. Shox in particular had a video leaked where he talked about it and I agreed with everything he said before I even heard it (and he used the inferno one as an example). Maybe it's that the game seems fishier in general than TF2, but being comparable in TF2 to the skill level that shox has CS, I just sort of know when something is off and I can tell people might not be legit just by the way they're handling some situations and the way the crosshair is moving in TF2, which is why I even found a lot of the rep clips in that video to be suspect before he was banned.

This post is purely for discussion's sake, I don't even think he's cheating anymore and I'm not even positive that he was before, but I think it's an interesting thing to take into consideration

yeah fnatic is really good. would have been disappointing if a team like envyus won, so i'm glad there's some order to it

has he? i actually just don't know. when he was cheating he was in contention for one of the best players in the game. i don't pay much attention to flusha anymore and he's certainly still an amazing player, but he's not the circlejerk he once was. things change and i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was never cheating, but especially after those hackusations he was playing very off.

there's that one inferno video where if you slow it down to like 10% of its speed it looks like a blatant aimlock on someone he couldn't even see. the only reason that isn't proof to me is he seems like someone who just likes to play. I actually like flusha because he doesn't put a lot of effort into tweeting or publicity and he's not an overbearing csgo professional like n0thing or any of the c9 guys. so it just doesn't seem to add up psychologically as to why he'd cheat.
