Pharaoh is such a cool dude. He does the cutest "hmmph" thing from time to time. He's pretty good at demo too.

downpourmaladownpourmalaWhat are your launch options?-dxlevel 81 -h 1080 -w 1920 -sw -windowed -noborder -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd
Take out your launch options and see if it still crashes?
when i took my settings nothing changed in visuals except its no longer noborder
its also running stable now so i think its the noborder
-sw and -windowed are essentially the same thing, and like meb said, remove -dxlevel xx after you launch the game with it
Arkanoid0crespiHas anyone noticed that in tf2 properties - local files - the option to defrag game files is gone? You can only verify them now.
Is this something new or have they not optimized the system for defragging yet?
To my understanding, vpk's don't need to be defragged like gcf's did. Gcf's were big, cluncky, and un-updateable. They were essentally a container file with the same directory as /username/gamename/. Vpk's are smaller, and strip all the file header info of all the internal files to the header of the vpk, along with crc data, file size and bit offset within the vpk. This along with /custom/ allows for less file calls and generally faster load times.
Thank you. This truly is fascinating. About time valve gets their shit together. Now, only if they would optimize tf2 a little more for windows :(
(
TerywjI have had no problems since switching to SteamPipe.
me neither, everything is working great

BenroadsI've tried opting into the steampipe thing three times and whenever I give it the okay to convert TF2 steam just crashes after like 20 seconds. Any ideas for fixing this?
Is it actually crashing or is it just freezing, there is a difference. As someone mentioned before, once you opt in and start the process, all steam windows will be frozen for several minutes, after that it will begin the conversion process.
Moral of the story is you just have to let it do its thing and not bother it.
I want to try this but I'm afraid of stuff breaking, I just want to play my video games :(
Well to add to #6, I have TEN gbs of maps, and 30 gb of space left on my hard drive (don't make fun of me) so I don't really want to backup 10gb of maps haha.
kirbyMake sure to back up your maps, configs, hud, etc. before you forget!
do you really have to backup your maps? Can't you just re-download them?
This fucker likes to go spy and backstab me (but I kind of like it.)
Thrasher is a rad guy and is really good at tf2. Deserves a good team.
The Steelseries qck+ is indeed a great mousepad, I would say go with the qck HEAVY though, as it is thicker and more comfortable.

I've heard great things about the qpad heaton, but it's always been more than 50$, so i'm surprised to see such a cheap price.
Doesn't anyone steel use the puretrak talent?
SwoonInksOne twitch.tv user called them "Jarate vision glasses". You can achieve almost the same results by using F.Lux. If you are willing to sacrifice colour accuracy to reduce eye strain/fatigue then you should try F.Lux which is free. Only difference is that the Gunnars offer UVA and UVB ray protection but its not like you are getting UVA and UVB rays from your monitor so it doesn't seem worth spending the $80-$100 for these glasses.

I use f.lux as well, and I swear by it. Unfortunately, I recently switched to full screen and f.lux only works over tf2 if you run windowed :(
Just as #15 said, bootcamp works great.
I also have a Macbook Pro and I've played the last two seasons of ESEA.
Running windows in bootcamp is literally no different than running windows on a normal pc.
It's very easy to install bootcamp and windows as well. There is no reason to play tf2 in osx unless you don't play competitively and don't care about getting the best performance you can.
Pegman is a cool dude. Certainly is dedicated, you can count on him to be around. I honestly haven't seen him play anything but sniper so I can't comment on his DM but personality wise he is an A+.
It looks reeeeally nice but I share the same sentiments as the others here - it's an unnecessary feature. I like my good ol' health cross and colored ammo counter.
