I guess I'm not the only one who has been waiting a year for the reunion.
Well puff for what it's worth I for one agreed with everything in that post.
The truth is gpit isn't a map for people with short attention-spans. It can require focus, concentration, patience and coordination more so than other maps and so a lot of players don't like it and avoid it.
It isn't more of a coin-toss than any other map in the rotation. If so-called "gimmicky" or otherwise random tactics (read: backstabs) work against your team that doesn't mean the map is bad. Spy is viable on gpit more so than anywhere else, but that just means you have to be able to anticipate those plays as a team.
The match my team played this season in playoffs on gpit is a perfect example of this. Our medic dropped uber to a stab while defending B and we ended up losing the round and ultimately the match. But I never blamed the map for that, I blame myself and my teammates (<3 u guys) because we weren't vigilant enough. It wasn't the map that screwed us, it was the stab and our C defense and our C offense...and so on.
And one last thing I like mike's idea of changing the stopwatch scoring system, but unfortunately the map would probably be voted out before anyone could be convinced to alter the gamemode.
Yeah let me clear that up I absolutely meant koth_ashville not cp_ashville a.k.a. that-map-whose-name-we-dare-not-speak a.k.a. cp_auschwitz.
The very clearly obvious correct play here is to keep our current solid, widely well-regarded rotation tentatively intact. There will always be problems with certain maps, and there will always be people who have problems with certain maps, but I feel like the general sense this season has been favorable towards metalworks and process.
It's absurd to me to consider replacing classic maps in tricky gamemodes like gpit without EXTENSIVE testing of possible alternatives. I don't mean lobbies; I don't mean pugs on Friday night when everyone except lansky is drunk or high.
Give this rotation another season and, in the meantime, do some legitimate testing of edifice. Ashville is an example of a map that has been tested well enough to consider as a replacement.
Finally, warmfront and yukon (and I guess follower as well although it hasn't come up yet) really should not be considered as candidates. For those of you newer players, these maps have been played in ESEA and voted out by the community. Just because you topfragged with the beggar's bazooka on warmfront on Star's server doesn't mean it's a good map.

The other week povohat released a mouse driver that essentially allows you to transfer your quake accel settings to any other game. Not sure if that is what you mean, though.
If you use accel in TF2 and you want to transfer it over to quake, it is possible: http://www.esreality.com/index.php?a=post&id=1903728 You would basically have to do the reverse of those directions.
If you don't use accel at all then there is nothing to worry about, just use the same sens value for both games. And yes in_mouse 2 (or 1 actually).
A higher FOV in quake will change the way your sens feels at first but it will not change your inches/360.

Use Stermy's config it's the best. http://www.stermy.com/ You'll have to change the keybinds/sens etc to your liking obviously but it looks good and runs smooth. And just a tip set your quake graphics to max quality and then install stermy's cfg. His HUD is nice, too.
