fsXDdidn't know people used vegas for editing anymore, thought most people did it in premier/after effects.
If you could somehow survey all the editors in the tf2 community I bet you'd find the large majority still use vegas. In terms of simplicity and the learning curve it's still probably the best program for beginners.
flipperswait how did you get around not being able to smooths? sfm?
If you watch the video again closely you'll figure out the answer.
Wasn't it 8 am est on Saturday for the youtube version.
The misinformation in this thread is amazing.
CzarOfTheSkyei actually work with video production.
also, record at max 120 fps(there is no reason to rape your hard drive with high fps files.. as you LITERALLY wont see a difference unless you slow down to around... 1-2 %
Wtf?
Good idea, tf2demos.com/ is a good place to find some frags to practice editing too.
Edit: By the looks of it that site hasn't been updated in a while, some of the demos are probably broken at this point.
LuckyLukeI record every clip seperately, but use VDM recording where possible to save time (firstperson shots from POV demos)
Have you found a way to keep video/audio sync when recording with VDM files or has it never been an issue for you? I used to use them to save time but recently the sync has been off after compiling in Vdub so I'm just doing it manually.
Also as far as previewing goes, the two best ways to get around it are to ram preview everything (which I usually do) or create proxy files which are essentially low-quality copies of your main files which are used for the editing process, and then replaced with the original files before the final render.
I used to record pretty much everything before starting any editing, but recently I've started by recording only the first persion views of every clip I might potentially use. Then I load those clips into vegas, place them around the timeline and try to get a general feel for where each frag fits well, and once that's done I move on to recording smooths/thirdperson shots which fit well with the frags. As far as the order I work chronologically to some degree, usually end up making the intro at the end though.
Hopefully you're not asking this to copy anyone though because like a lot of things it's all preference, I've seen streams of good editors who have methods which seem alien to me.
this is taking way too long
did anyone else open the stream during the ball chugging and wonder what the hell was going on
AuroraI'll jump again and would love to bball. Euro jumpers should also be allowed in if they like 120 ping.
For the races ping will be a concern but if players are just showcasing runs on different maps there's no reason not to have servers at different locations ready to go this time.
KanecoMy issue here is that if there's a privileged team in the whole tf2 scene that's your team, you guys are going to europe with full expenses paid by the community, you are going to lan as 1st seeding and favorites to win, possibly making a profit (even if it is to pay for your extra week in england), you have won last season as well. If there's a single team making a profit in the scene then that's your team. Even scraping the money issue altogether you are the most glorified team in the whole competitive tf2 currently. If you had decent planing you would have streamed your scrims at least or uploaded handpicked vods to an official youtube channel and ask for the community support through donations (see: infused, broder, iM, etc...), you could have just involved with the community and contributed to it as a whole so much more.
It's simply not fair for teams in worse situations than you guys to take advantage of your status as a super team to ask for support with nothing in return (I get it you are offering perks to donators, but it would have made much more sense if you had put out some content while the season was still going on).
I'm not donating because I already donated for YOUR i49 fundraiser, and the broder fundraiser, and I'm just a poor college kid trying to make it at the end of the month.
my 2cents
Fair points but when they say in the post "do not feel obligated to donate anyway. We realize the amount we're asking for is still considerably more than what other teams may ask for ($0)" I don't really think they deserve any of the hate. At least they're being completely open about the costs and such.
Wtf? Why are people are so quick to jump in and defend eXtv when they ask for money towards the documentary yet attack a team who asks for donations, even when they offer fair incentives and make it clear that they are not dependent on our help? While the documentary and lan funds are completely different situations, it doesn't change the fact they're both asking for compensation towards certain expenses.
