Sometimes I pub on skial and other servers which have ads. The ads always come on blasting (5x as loud as my normal tf2 sound) so I simply mute for 20 seconds until that shit is over.
I know I can disable HTML MOTD's, but that would also effect logs.tf and ss.
Does anyone know of another method? I've heard I may be able to just block the ad server IP through my computers host file. But I have no idea how I'd find that IP of their ad server(s) short of wiresharking and looking through packets.
Anyone know of a good method for blocking these ads, while still being able to view ss and logs.tf? Possibly is there a way to block all flash/html 5 or something?
-protowheres the proof he has hacked in pubs. you trust a 3rd party plugin anti cheat plugin? sourcemod isnt made by valve, i bet he got that smac because his aim looks retarded as fuck yet still hits everything. Hassassin went to that toronto lan and destroyed everyone. You obviously have a negative bias against him that is unjustified. Thread should be locked and this tangy guy should be banned for false accusation with no evidence. Hassassin loves this game more than anything and to think that because of this thread he might have trouble finding teams in the future because some pub player thinks hes hacking disgusts me. Before this thread no one in esea had said the words hassassin and hacking in the same sentence. Get out of here troll.
Well, he admits to hacking in pubs himself. Here is the proof right from the horses mouth:

"...But yea... I don't really hack. I've hacked before. I'll admit that but like, im pretty sure that was like 2 years ago, in a pub." But the SMAC was from like 2 months ago, which is quite different from 2 years ago.
CondescendingCandlestickI'm with proto, if we are going to witch-hunt can it at least be bullet?

Source: Hassasin on his stream, as he played MGE against bullet.
MadKNow that we got this clear that cheating is ok in pubs.
Would it be ok to cheat in tf2center? I mean it's super casual and tf2stadium and matchmaking will be out soon and there is no way I would cheat there.
Center is fairly strict when it comes to cheating. Cheat there once, even on an alt, and you get a 10 year ban on your main and alt.
Personally, the only "grounds" where I see cheating as being remotely acceptable is on VAC unsecured servers. I've never seen them, but I've been told by other cheaters, that there are actually servers called LMAO BOX vs LMAO BOX, which just as the name implies is a hack fest. See who's hacks are better.
As for Hassasin, if he has only cheated in a pub (which that is all the evidence so far implies), and there are no current league rules which state you can have some kind of league punishment for cheating in a pub, then he should not be punished for this incident. But instead, the leagues should decide if they want to crack down more heavily and have a zero cheating policy for TF2 including pubs, and put this in place moving forward.
IMO the biggest problem with someone cheating in a pub, but also being involved in the comp community, is mainly the fact that if someone has hacks, knows how to use them, what is stopping them from turning them on in the middle of a tight game, just for a round or two? They are pissed off, its a close game, I could see *someone* doing this.
hooliESEA doesn't care if you cheat outside of ESEA servers.
As of a few months ago, isn't their anti cheat client supposed to be running 100% of the time on your computer? IIRC this is so people couldn't inject their hack then launch the client. If they care or not is one thing, but is their AC client supposed to detect any hack on your computer, regardless of if its used on official ESEA servers or not?
GliderliasdeetrNo I have not, link? Am I wrong about projectile hacks not existing?liaswait how cheat as demo guy
Wouldn't hacks only work with hitscan?
have you seen bullets esea povs
There is auto-det for demoman.
Auto det, walls, knowledge of player HP and ammo situation, and yes there is projectile aimbot. The projectile aimbot though that I've seen is horribly obvious on demo when I've seen it.
Based on the SMAC, and his own admission, Hassasin has cheated on an alt in pubs. But if he is actively cheating in matches that's another story, and is probably the only thing that most people care about.
Mankyb4nny and clockwork to play for saints?
Yesterday when someone asked clock if he was going it was a "maybe" or something, so who knows.
Would be cool to see NA represent, even if its just a couple of players and not a whole team this year.
Pretty cool to see TF2 back @ dreamhack! Maybe next year there can be more advanced notice so we can get some NA teams over there!
SetsulYeah I forgot to mention the multiples of 24. It's the main reason why 120Hz looks smoother when playing movies. On 60Hz one frame is displayed 3 times, the next only 2 times, then 3, then 2 and so on. It looks awful. Use anything other than x*24 and you lose that advantage again. Hard to sell 140Hz if it looks worse than 120Hz at first glance.
So 144Hz is the default pick.
Why 144 and not 168 or 192 or even 240Hz? Well, that's where #38 forgot a tiny little detail: Manufacturers actually have to comply with specifications. DVI allows a clockrate from 25 to 165MHz. With "normal" LCD timings you're looking at 170-180MHz for 144Hz, with reduced ~160MHz. So 144Hz is tight, 168Hz is not officially possible.
Of course you can overclock it and at home with cables way shorter than the 15 feet / 4.6m that spec was going for you can get away with far higher clocks.
I believe what you are talking about is the screen tearing that happens when the FPS and input source are out of sync. When the screen refreshes in the middle of a frame transition that is when you get motion blur and screen tearing. The only real ways to resolve that are to sync your FPS to refresh rate. In the case of multiples of 24, that would probably only apply to 24 FPS content such as a DVD. And in that case, 144Hz would actually be a multiple of 24, and it would take 5 screen refreshes, then on the 6th refresh there would be a new frame. 120Hz would work fine as well because it is also a multiple of 24.
I'm really not sure why or how it would be possible that 120Hz would look better than a 144Hz monitor for 24p content? Is there something I'm mising?
Most Bluerays however are 60FPS, so 120Hz may be better for viewing bluerays as the screen would refresh twice for every 1 frame of the movie.
It's not always practical to sync FPS with the monitors refresh rate however. V-sync can be used in most games, but in games like TF2 causes an insane increase in input lag, so much input lag that I literally could not rocket jump for shit with it enabled. That is kind of where G-sync and freesync come in. They sync the FPS with the monitors refresh rate so it is always at a 1:1 ratio, so there should never be any screen tearing. I assume G-sync can sync with media content to sync the frames and refresh rate, so in that case the "odd" 165Hz refresh rate wouldn't be a problem, as long as you run G-sync at all times, and it would probably clock your monitor automatically to 60Hz when viewing HD content for example.
owlif it's not regulated it doesn't do anything
you wasted your money
Not necessarily true. The latest drugs can't really be banned if they drugs have not been discovered or tested by the government. Ever hear of "spice" (aka synthetic Marijuana). Some spice manufacturers constantly change the drugs composition, so even if you are caught with it, and its sent in to a lab, if they can't identify it you can't get charged (unless you were driving and failed like a field sobriety test or something). These smart drugs might not be super potent (don't know enough about them tbh) but I know there are multiple research drugs and are not currently regulated but can really do some crazy shit to you.
Honestly, whatever you do, if you decide to take it, I'd suggest taking it in moderation. Don't become a daily user of the drug. There likely isn't sufficient research to prove if there are any long term negative effects.
KrocketKarmaBeen messing around with nootropics for a while. Tried noopept, oxiracetam, L-Theanine + Caffiene Combo, and Vinpocetine.
I take L-Theanine sometimes to help with occasional stress or anxiety. For me it has a slight calming effect, nothing major but just makes me feel a bit more relaxed. I'm shocked to hear you mention combining L-theanine and caffiene, as they are basically opposites and L-theanine is actually used sometimes to combat the effects of caffiene.
I have the Asus VG248QE... However, I've heard good things about newer the LG 144Hz the 24GM77 I think. In many tests it has outperformed the Asus. And it has a built in strobe (lightboost) implementation, where the Asus you have to use software for lightboost and the colors go to absolute shit when lightboost is enabled.
the301stspartan4 ms mother of God, that's a latency of more than half a frame on that monitor, how can they expect us to play with that? Huge blunder from ASUS, not sure how soon they'll recover from this
165Hz = 165FPS = a frame every 6ms. Add in the 4ms refresh rate and you have 10ms delay (doesn't include any other input lag the monitor may have).
144Hz with 1ms refresh rate would be 6.94ms + 1ms = ~8ms delay.
So a 2ms total difference. But with 144Hz (unless you use lightboost), you are going to be experiencing screen tearing, which is completely eliminated with Gsync or freesync.
I'd much prefer 10ms + zero motion blur to 8ms with motion blur.
Tino_Go idea but wont work at all considering unless the DDoSer is totally brain dead he will be routing through a proxy so you have no idea who the fuck it is anyways....
You are assuming this individual has used a proxy or VPN 100% of the times he has logged into TF2C and tf.tv. More then likely there will be some IP address correlation between his account where he claimed to DDOS TF2C, and his primary account. For example, say he logged in with a VPN running on his remote VPS to make his posts on tf.tv about the DDOS. But a couple months ago when he DDOS'ed some other site or server, he checked his main tf.tv account while still being singed into his personal VPN. Then you have a direct IP address match between the two accounts, and you can assume with a high degree of certainty that they are the same people. If he's really smart and never slipped up and used a non-masked IP and always used anonymous proxy's/VPN's then its possible that his identity could still be unknown, at least to tf.tv and TF2C.
Also, you gotta remember that in a gaming community there is almost no way he could be using a VPN/proxy all the time (due to latency issues with FPS games with increased ping). So the likelihood of a slip-up of using the same IP's for his main and alt account at one point in time is high.
Either way though, passing on the information to IC3 if this clown doesn't stop doing what he is doing couldn't hurt anything. Also, I'm sure steam has much more sophisticated methods to link one account to another. So if someone in authority from IC3 reached out to valve, i'm pretty darn sure they'd be able to connect him to his main account, then that would more than likely have his billing details tied to that account, drawing a direct connection to the clown behind these criminal DDOS attacks.
Tried battlefront with eulogy this evening. Took me 30 minutes or so to get the hang of it. Then started just destroying people. It almost felt like we were playing bots they were so bad lmao! This game is fun as hell. Played it for like 3 hours straight my first time. I love flying with the jet pack and dive bombing people lol.
I did notice some absolutely insane multi-monitor glitches. Anytime I alt-tabbed it would put the game in a windowed mode which was in a small window about 1/2 the resolution of my monitor. Then when I clicked on the game on the task bar to open it back up again, the game decided to fullscreen in my 2nd (non-gaming) monitor. Very strange behavior. Also had my mouse pointer jump out of game to my second monitor a few times. I'm curious if other multi-monitor users have experienced these glitches?
