Regardless of whether or not goat-fuckers international are involved, this is absolutely an act of terrorism. This trend of small scale, fast shooting based acts of terror scare the fuck out of me. They could happen any time, anywhere, are easier/cheaper to pull off than 9/11 or 7/7 style attacks and are thusly not limited to big obvious targets.
The first responders have done really well in this incident, including immediate setup of field triage/treatment for victims and activating their emergency response plans. All cities need these plans, regardless of size.
Bump, still looking.
knuckles clicks on things and has good knowledge of the game. Strong willed and opinionated (pot, kettle I know) but more than willing to help and support his team.
So is this dead? Bloody shame if so.
kounterpartsdrshdwpuppetstuffjust want you to look at this before helping http://www.teamfortress.tv/29878/new-pug-group/?page=3#74
I am mostly helping because I am playing and I don't want it to be a clusterfuck. I have to play because I already agreed to heal Kevinispwn and there isn't another medic in the world that would willingly do that.
Okay. No. Just simply no. Absolutely not.
I /super/ appreciate the initiative and the effort. But have we learned nothing as a community about people with no tournament running experience or knowledge as to how to run a tournament doing it solo? Didn't we just have a dramatic clusterfuck of an invite only tournament that was plagued with problems largely stemming from an odd setup and an admin that, while well meaning, had no clue about the details that make a tournament tolerable?
Lets talk about format. Kevinispwn drew this up for me, which demonstrates how the matchups work in a bracket format http://i.imgur.com/cXiF64L.png
I am not certain, but I strongly suspect, that this bracket setup isn't even capable of proving who is best, we do standard double elimination format for a reason. It minimizes the games needed to be played to verify which teams are top 3. Just as a course of how to admin any tournament, but especially a tournament with prizes, it is VITALLY important to get it right.
If I am looking at things right and following logic correctly, it is possible to have to play 5 games in the tournament, while others will never have to play more than 2-3. The seeding is also completely off base. In addition, it appears that some second round matchups will be between two winners, others between a winner and a loser, others still don't even have a second round matchup at all. For reference, every team should always play a second game (in double elimination), and it should always be between winners or losers, never a mix. Every stage except the grand finals will have two teams going against each other who have exactly the same record.
The issue with things like this is that its not even hard to find people who know what they are doing with administrating a tournament. There are at least a handful that have direct experience, and almost anyone could tell you that the format is a little fuckey.
The good news is that we can fix this. Add me on steam, I can help you with seeds, setting up a proper bracket, and finding a way to make this a lot stronger of a tournament. Please don't take this the wrong way, you only really get one chance at making a good impression in this community and I want you to put your best foot forward. The best way to do that is to run a well organized first tournament.
Again, thank you for the initiative, add me and lets talk to make this as best it can be.
as a side note, I am on team Newbie Admins, my name is Drshdwpuppet, not Dr.ShwnPuppet, which is the best misspelling that has happened to me yet.
forever ago, I pubbed on a server ran by the Uber Melons clan, they were putting together a 6s/5s (5v5 fast attack yo) team (this is prior to the scourge of HL) and since I played almost exclusively medic on the server, they asked if I was interested.
Never looked back.
We are in desperate need of coaches. There are a lot of turkey stuffed newbies waiting to learn, and Kevin is away so I can't get a group announcement posted.
stream chat has apparently never been to a LAN event where nothing (NOTHING) ever goes right/starts on time.
Maxi-So the company I work for have been looking at getting into the esports market and I've been chatting with a few of the senior sales guys about ESEA, Insomnia, and now Dreamhack.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but basically we'd be looking at producing some items for sale related to DH or i58 in the future, something that would be customised with the event logo, team name, and in game nickname for example.
So far I've asked a few people if that's something they'd consider buying and if so how much.
Seeing as the poster has just been revealed and is the exact type of thing we'd be looking to produce (With TFTV/DH/Multiplay/etc. involved if possible), I thought I'd open the question out to the larger TF2 community.
Note: I'm not going to steal the poster design and say "hey let's make these and sell them", it's just something of this quality, and overall feel.

Additionally, I'm not going to DH myself, but it would be great if someone that is going could tell me the type of merchandise DH offers, and what gaps are missing. For example, i55 didn't have any personalised things that I found but generic mario/sonic hats for example.
Something that's more personal to the individual like a team hoodie/scarfs/badges etc. That's the type of item we're going for.
Any questions please feel free to add me on steam.
Yes, absolutely. On one condition.
Hire uberchain and the other talented artists we have in this community on a freelance/per item basis and pay them what they are worth. Knowing that a portion of the proceeds are going to a person in this community who has given their sweat, tears and blood to the community for years without compensation beyond a "thank you" in most cases would make me 10x more likely to buy whatever it is you make.
RIP rain. Stop betting.
