#9 "Masters of Classes" powered by TF2Stadium in Projects
the301stspartanIdea sounds amazing; I don't, however understand what signing up for this means and why it is required/limited. Does it mean only people who are signed up and meet the requirements will be able to view the stream? If so, why and how would that even work technically? Or can everyone watch it but only signed up can chat/communicate with the coaches? That would make much more sense?

Not all classes will be streamed.

In addition, all classes have an interactive, mumble/live portion. Those portions are limited in nature due to the inherent difficulties in getting people arranged and behaving well. For instance, during my portion, people will be able to ask questions and, depending on class size, may get to try out uploading on ftp and some other things.

If Kevin ever comes to you and says "hey I have this little project, do you want to help", I suggest running in the opposite direction.

#36 TSU's issues with the fall classic in TF2 General Discussion

from the Fall Classic ruleset

Behavior which alters the natural flow of a respectable match will not be tolerated, this includes, but is not limited to cheating and the intentional losing of a game. Players caught cheating or tampering with matches will be immediately and permanently banned from Razer Arena.

I don't know enough about the situation one way or the other, but ambiguous language like that can easily be taken to mean behaviour just like this. I am not saying Ash cheated, and to be really honest, it doesn't really matter much for the purposes of this discussion. We cannot pretend that tsc couldn't have done something. Ambiguous language in rules exists solely for the purpose of league admins being able to make judgement calls about situations and what to do in them,

ESEA for instance, has this:

We reserve the right to change, modify, or adapt all rules as deemed appropriate by ESEA in order to uphold and maintain a spirit of overall fairness and good sportsmanship.
All players and teams are to uphold the spirit of fair play at all times.

Which is much better written, but if an admin were willing to take a stand and say that playing in the state that Ash did is a violation of the spirit of fairness and good sportsmanship, there is an enforceable clause in the rules. It does not take a leap of faith to suggest that playing in that state represented a material challenge to the natural flow of a respectable match.

Again, I do not know exactly what behaviour was done or what reasoning TSC had for his decision or if his privileged position with froyo did or did not affect his judgement. It is all completely immaterial. We cannot let tournament admins or community members get away with "oh well there were no rules against x" when clearly there was something an admin could make an actionable decision on.

#64 GXL LAN Thoughts in TF2 General Discussion
KogaGeel9also fuck memes that are forced and run from 12:00-1:00 AM in particular and thus block good things (tf2) from happening
If the TF2 tournament had started on time at 10am, Midnight Madness wouldn't have gotten in the way. My only complaint about GXL this year was that I spent five and a half hours for my first tf2 match to start in the tournament. I don't know what happened with that to delay it so much, but it was annoying none the less. Past that I had a great time.

I cannot express how happy I am that we had the deluxe chair option this year....

wut? Matches started at 12:30-12:45.

No gamers were even there for the 10:30 start, half the teams didn't even pay until after 11. Did your team have a bye first round? Someone had to sorry :(

#61 GXL LAN Thoughts in TF2 General Discussion

Thanks to:
TheFragile for putting on such a wonderful event again. Two years in a row of this size is important, lets keep it up!

Kevinispwn for being possibly the absolute nicest guy in the world. Seriously without his help basically all weekend, I am not sure I would have been able to make it around or have an enjoyable LAN experience at all. It was nice to have someone on a similar schedule to hang out with, grab food with, help me up to the hotel room and other stuff. Serious southern gentleman. <3 u

Pinkushin for not being too upset I didn't get to hang at all this lan ;~;

brrrton for the based cheese sticks, perfect for continuing the frustration that is dealing with GXL networks.

The entirety of Jaguar's team for being bros and coming to say hi since I couldn't really go see the people I really wanted to.

Jay/Lblock for letting me have their chinese leftovers when I couldn't leave the venue Saturday because herding cats yo. Jay specifically for riding with me as far as Columbus to catch the second leg of his bus there. Having someone to drive with makes the trip a thousand times more enjoyable and I'm sorry I am such a weirdo.

DennisTheMenace/Other helpers (names escape me im still exhausted) for being available for assisting me/production for basically the entire event. I know we didn't use you guys a ton and you were hoping to do more, but having the backup and being able to send you guys out to tell teams what's up was a vital part to Nick and I being able to focus on organizing shit and not chasing people around. You are appreciated!

Dashner for continuing to put up with the clusterfuck that is the GXL network and setup. Oct 16th was national "strangle a network admin" day.

All of the team captains for being cool with last second switch to a new format when people couldn't get an outside connection even long enough to load a simple webpage. Once we got going, we banged out the games super fast, and that is in large part to everyone (mostly) staying at the venue when told and playing their games promptly. Super huge thanks to the invite teams for being willing to play every phase of the bracket one after another with only a break for memeing.

Shoutout to Turk (GXL admin) for his continuing dedication to wasting everyone's time with memes.

Kresnik and Crasian for being able to spell my name right. Crasian for being a bro.

Hidi for her help

CSGO for ESPORTS!!!

Geel for 1000$ and for being sympathetic to the shit we were putting up with in terms of poorly documented code, bad networks and not knowing which is causing an issue.

Everyone that came out, had a good time, and kept this little tradition we have going. This event is the highlight of my /year/ and you all have no idea how bummed I was when it looked like I might not get to go. This community is the lone, shining counter example to the rest of competitive gaming and I live for when we meet up again.

I know that these events are not free of issue and problem. Networks suck (we /are/ working on it I promise), nothing ever starts on time, memes are shit, whatever party was next door had phenomenally poor taste and somehow managed to be louder than counterstrike gamers. But it never really was about those things was it?

You all better come next year.

dashnermaelstrom90% waiting + edm songs

10% tf2

We're not allowed to resume the tournament until the event organizers finish their hour-long raffles from midnight to 1 AM. Nothing we can do about it. It just finished and we're getting players into server.

Raffles is putting it lightly.

Its an hour of stupid shit and memeing

Phiwheeeee they're playing sunshine rc7 instead of rc8......

so is there any specific reason why they're doing that map-wise or is it just because esea is playing rc7 too?

at least they're playing the map, but i'd love to see the most recent, proper version being played

I think that is is because this was the version of the map that was around when the maplist was created and it never got changed. Sorry Phi!
