#20 TF2Center denying access to users with adblock in TF2 General Discussion

Still never a good idea to ban Adblock.

#17 Educating the masses in TF2 General Discussion

So I have in-game voice off since it's not needed in comp and really would only be annoying if someone used it. Would it be best to enable it?

#5 TF2Center denying access to users with adblock in TF2 General Discussion

Blocking Adblock users is a good way to kill the site, and it could possibly stop the flow of new players into comp.

#31 Before going into comp in TF2 General Discussion
MOOSE_HuckCross out that first part and your post wouldn't be utter shit.i say it like it is. The tf2 community is the cancer of a fun game. I seriously can't think of a single tf2 player who in comparison with a normal human, is not an asshole.

Oh, I know! Lange, seanbud, b4nny, truktruk, rays, sezco, stabby etc. are all major assholes! Thank you for that 100% factual statement.

#43 ESEA Map Poll in TF2 General Discussion

^ Granary is just kinda bleh now. It's not a bad map, it just hasn't aged nearly as well as Badlands.

#27 ESEA Map Poll in TF2 General Discussion
Ragevoting out granary is dumb. Everyone is going to regret it when it gets replaced with any of the other shitty maps

If we know all the maps aren't ready or are just shitty, then we can always vote to keep Granary.

But maybe we need to know what maps are prior to any voting. Like, announce them the day after LAN. Or even before.

#11 tv_delaymapchange 1 in TF2 General Discussion
f_blueAmericans noticing this command just now :>

F2's WaitForSTV SourceMod plugin or tftrue_tv_delaymapchange "1" are very useful in that regard as well.

I don't think ESEA needs something like this, they just need to keep someone in the server for 90 seconds since the servers are set up for each map/match. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Useful and should be required for every other comp server though.

#40 WHAT we NEED to do to get comp tf2 more players in TF2 General Discussion
_In_SanityGentlemanJon_In_SanityThe reason that DotA2 and CS:GO are so popular without the need for free leagues is because the average 'pub' game is exactly the same format as a competitive game. I think the similarities between pubs and HL goes some way to disprove this, although of course if the base game was Highlander it would make leagues more accessible.
The point I was trying to make is that the idea of removing all 'free' leagues and making the only format 6v6 (as has been suggested by a number of people across all of these threads) just isn't a viable solution for the reality of tf2. If 6s was available in the client, and supported by valve, then yes, I think we could focus on consolidating into a single pay to play league. But because it isn't we desperately need some kind of entry level league where the barriers to entry for new players are minimal if present at all.

As much as you may disagree with some of the policies, decisions, and structures in place in UGC, you have to agree that right now it is the single best entry level league we have in north america. Lobbies, and ESEA Open simply don't cut it as an effective way to introduce someone to the competitive format. Talking about eliminating UGC, or even replacing it seem entirely counter productive. The league exists and it servers a valuable and needed function. Lets improve it, rather than starting over from scratch and further splintering our community.

Well, if we can't even get someone that actually cares about 6s in UGC then I think it's reasonable to make a new free league.

#15 On the future of comp tf2 and NA 6v6 Newbie Mixes in TF2 General Discussion

I'd be down to coach, but I don't know if you really want someone with only one whole season of UGC Steel experience and occasional Open experience. Been in the TF2 community for 2 years though. HMU next week if you need me.

Pellovleyi don't get why people just don't use tf2center

like really it's a pretty well made system

Well, it's kinda not official, so nowhere near every TF2 player knows about it.

Is this going to be done for all of Invite next season? That would be amazing.

vibhavpflameassemble a fake update page, fake patch notes, a tf2 frag video made in source filmmaker, and a ridiculous comic and published it as a 'leaked' update
Reminds me of the Fancy Vs Nasty Update, and the Night of the Living Update. Even though they were unofficial updates, Valve took notice of them, and added many of the items it introduced into the game (The Fancy vs Nasty update bought in the Frying Pan, as an example).

FvN brought us the Boston Basher as well. Just want to mention that.

#187 Lange's thoughts on the state of competitive TF2 in TF2 General Discussion
lucrativeThis isn't gonna be a post really reflecting on everything in the thread, but if people actually think esea will drop tf2 even with a lesser amount of players you're kidding youself lol they make great revenue off tf2 despite the lower number of players, they barely even pay attention to tf2 and they make money from it.

Assuming 7 people paid up on a roster.

S17 Open: 38 teams * 7 players * ($10 league fee + 3*$7 premium per player) = $8246
S17 IM: 16 teams * 7 players * ($20 league fee + 3*$7 premium per player) = $4592
S17 Invite: 9 teams * 7 players * $60 league fee (free premium for Invite) = $3780

Total revenue (not profit) from TF2 players: $16,618
TF2 prize pot for S17: $16,880
Profit: $-262

Since sponsors probably cover the deficit, ESEA may not be losing money on TF2 based on this model. But even assuming 7 paid players on a roster and everyone pays for 3 months of premium (in reality, most teams will only have 6 paid throughout the season and not everyone will pay for 3 months of premium), they're not really making money off of us. If they dropped TF2, they would just allocate all sponsorship money going into TF2 to CSGO. They really have nothing to lose if they drop us if we keep pulling these kinds of numbers.

#125 Lange's thoughts on the state of competitive TF2 in TF2 General Discussion
2ctankmanYou know whats really really interesting. We split the community in half with cevo and esea. We all got upset with esea because it did all this stupid shit but in the end they provided a service and lan albeit a shitty service it was still a service that we needed and used. I feel like if we had never had that retarded cevo vs esea shitstorm that happend before the season began this game might have had atleast another year couple years or atleast would have made us a bit stronger as a community.
it's almost like everyone who wasn't a retard said that that would happen

Everyone in support of CEVO were assuming that it would be like how ETF2L has 2 maps a week. I'm guessing no supporters took into consideration that ETF2L is a free league and you had to pay for two leagues here.
