Hope everyone's ok :(
tbh let's just stop playing in leagues and just pug
in fact, we don't need pugs when we already have public servers available, let's just play vanilla tf22 in those
snowblindit definitely sounds like your computer is the issue, if you want to improve your decisions in-game you're gonna have to drop at least $3000 on a new setup
Can confirm, just ordered the new 5k iMac. Hasn't arrived yet but I'm already 300x better
Bump, anyone else want to go? I'm trying to wait to pay until we get enough people committed.
Mr_Harvarddont use amd processor's, Intel is superior. Yes AMD has more cores and all that but Intel processors have more power per core, and also most modern day games will only use up to four cores, wasting the 6, 8, and 12 core processors from AMD
Don't say AMD processors are worse. They are meant for different things. AMD's processors are more for multithreaded applications (such as video) while Intel's processors are more single-thread optimized (so, they're better for most games). The FX-8350, IIRC, gives a pretty much stable fps in TF2, but the maximum fps is lower than a x570k.
But I would only get an AMD processor if I was going to be editing a lot of videos. the 3570k/4570k is enough power for streaming, and you can overclock.
However, OP, I assume you aren't wanting to stream. I would say a lower-end quad-core i5 would work well for you. I would head over to the PC Build Thread if you want to upgrade. Try the things here first before you buy anything.
^ I feel like the only people who were unnecessarily harsh are always like that though. I didn't feel like people were harsh in general.
ObismoboI hate how most of the good casters speak. everything is like this
"B4nny goes in and he DOES get the medic. Cozen DOES go down. Elevate WILL be pushing with a disadvantage"" it's like everyone emphasizes helping verb that doesn't actually add meaning to the sentence. Just say "B4nny goes in and he gets the medic".
I didn't notice it in your casting that much but during i52 and the last esea LAN I was cringing.
I dunno, I feel like that little pause then emphasis on "DOES" accentuates the intensity of the whole moment. Cause even the casters are excited to see if the player will pull the clutch play.
Yeah, I agree. Alternatively, they could say "B4nny goes IN and he GETS the medic!"
defypl3xIf we really want TF2 to advance as an esport, my opinion is that we should headline smaller LANs and drum up interest from bigger LANs.
Trying to get into ETS will be like a bug trying to get the attention of a mountain. There just isn't enough interest from the organizers or the standing in the video game world to make it work. There also needs to be more teams into the higher levels of the game. The gap between Open and Invite is too big as-is, and having the same like 3 good teams or so at every LAN will do nothing to help TF2's popularity.
you're seriously talking out of your ass, not quite sure the point you're trying to get across but ETS had the biggest turn out for tf2 players up until GXL happened
He does have a point with the smaller LANs thing. Since ETS doesn't really like us and probably won't give us a tournament this year (or possibly won't let us use any servers for TF2, idk how servers work at LANs though), we can go to smaller LANs like FITES and GXL and others around the country to prove we can get enough people to host tournaments.
Pretty sure that was not what he was trying to say though.
As a side note, will the next CEVO LAN finals, if they happen, be held at whichever LAN we choose?
General admission tickets are now available. Price is $25. IU student tickets are $20.
General Admission: http://www.iugaming.com/lanwar27general
IU Students: http://www.iugaming.com/lanwar27
For the record, I'd be more willing to go to FITES than ETS. There's probably no chance of me going to the next ETS, I just feel like it would be better for the game. Just put me down for FITES.
We need a list of people who would go to ETS and a list of people who would go to FITES; people should be allowed on both lists. Compare the lists, and if the ETS list is long enough, take our next major event there. If FITES has more people, then go there.
GA tickets aren't available as of this post, even though they were supposed to be available from Friday. I haven't seen any posts since the one about the student pre-sale.
I'd say ETS, assuming people actually go. I probably won't go in 2015 (no passport, and I'll have class that Friday and Monday for sure) but 2016 would probably work (and I'll be able to drink there!).
If only it was a week later...
To be honest a midwest LAN (near Chicago) would be nice for the winter. I'd say a west coast LAN but most of us probably wouldn't go to that.
I first watched the S10 LAN stream because of a friend. After that, I joined in on the next newbie mixes and I formed a UGC 6s team with my internet buds. I somehow made my way into New Map Weekends despite having little experience.
To this day, I'm mediocre. Most likely I haven't been able to be on a team for longer than a few weeks without it dying or my schedule conflicting. If I didn't have so many other games to play I'd actually try to play right now.
I hope we can get at least 12 people, that way we can still do some pugs if they don't have a tournament.
Tell your friends!
alec_no zowie fucking sucks. but no need to try anything diff if youre gonna have annoying reliability issues and could just spend the money on a diff upgrade
Since when does Zowie suck?
