More like you forgot about this and you remembered when I popped in the TF2Maps chat #Kappa
Can't wait though. Always good to have mappers continue making maps for comp.
reillyI think it would be better if you didn't have granary in this vote. Rather, you should vote only on new maps, and then have a final vote between granary and the winning map. (Although at this point keeping granary has a ton of votes so it likely wouldn't matter).
Also have you considered making news posts if possible for these? I didn't even realize this thread existed until now.
This is why Fragile is looking for an "overwhelming majority." If Granary doesn't get over 50% of the votes, it's for sure gone. It's at 47% right now. I'd say an overwhelming majority would be at least 60%, so it has a ways to go.
I'd like to form a team with this guy but he's out of my league.
Plus, I don't really have the time to play TF2 right now.
Yeah, you should probably put that in the OP.
High school was pretty similar for me too, but I had a study hall as well. I never needed to study either. College is a little harder just so you know. Don't let your guard down.
You should probably do your homework. School is much more important than TF2.
Unless you mean you finish your homework at school, in which case you're good
flamePapaSmurf323but flame im a software engineer with a computer science degree!
i have had a lot more opportunities outside of software doe.
I would say CS is more theoretical and CE is more practical. It's kinda like the relationship between physics and engineering in general, but the CS job market just happens to be a lot bigger.
HyceIf you add logjam-
understand it's in beta it's not perfect and it's got issues BUT I will listen to you wholeheartedly to try and make it as good as I can! B10 might be a little useless though- I'm going to make a b11 when it's done with ETF2L season 19 pretty soon anyways.
People are still going to despise it even if there's just minor things wrong about that.
I kinda want to throw in Yukon so these mapmakers don't get discouraged if people complain, but I guess we'd just get stuck in a loop of recycling old maps if Yukon turns out to be shit. No upper-level players seem to want to test new maps most of the time.

Hidden under the desk is an Alienware Aurora R4 (not the thing on the left, thats my bass)
You probably overpaid for that computer
TheFragilehookyEdit: Not sure if I'm liking how this uses strawpoll...
I just wanted to get a quick feel on how everyone felt with the current maps. It didn't have to be a super formal process or anything. I could have thrown a poll up on CEVO, but anyone can make a registered account and vote, so it wouldn't have weeded out too many votes that didn't belong (if that's what you were worried about).
Yeah, that's what I was mostly worried about. I guess this is better than having a map poll on the CEVO or ESEA website as it's not likely anyone outside of TF2 will vote.
So I guess Granary is out then?
HyceUnless you want to give it a try as long as you don't bite it's head off when it isn't perfect.
That's what we do best though
Edit: Not sure if I'm liking how this uses strawpoll...
I'm majoring in CS at IUPUI (IU and Purdue at Indianapolis). My CS professor this semester is always talking about how the tech sector is booming around here and how lots of people call him wanting to recruit beginning freshman (he tells them to wait though). Granted, they're not Google or Apple, but I've been told I can go up to Purdue for career fairs and such, where companies like Google and Apple will be.
As for the curriculum, so far in the first course we've learned some introductory stuff like binary and assembly, and we've been going into Python. It's been pretty easy for me, but I've taken programming classes in high school. I can tell it's getting harder though.
At my college, there's a BS and BA in CS, as well as CIT and CE. The BS is basically a standard CS degree, while the BA has less of a math requirement and more room for liberal arts. The BS essentially gets you a math minor; you just need one extra class so there's really no reason to not get it. IDK the difference between CIT and CE though, I just know they're different from CS.
As for CS in high schools: generally anything related to CS gets put under the business department rather than the science department. While CS is important for business, I'd say it's really a science like its name implies. It seems to me like it's too much theory to be business, if that makes sense. I guess it's like classifying all math classes as business classes.
So that's my thoughts on CS.
Side note: My college's football team has been undefeated since 1969...
...but that's because we never had one. Apparently IU won't let us have one since we're managed by them and football is basically their big thing. Too bad they (and all college teams in this state honestly) suck.
TurinIt would be weird to have the first season without granary after like 6 years of 6v6
but... it's not badlands
(sorry)
But seriously, I'd like to see Granary get replaced. Not because it's a bad map, it's just become a little stale and hasn't aged as well as other maps. Depends on what would replace it, though.
Is it a bad idea to include the voted-out map in the map poll?
That page is confusing. Only the version without speakers is the XL2411Z, and it's £225. The £132 one is the RL2455HM, and it's just 75Hz. The £290 one is the XL2420Z, and the one with game mode is the XL2430T.
So, go for the one that says "HDMI, no speakers." That's the only one there that's the XL2411Z. If you can find the XL2420Z for cheaper though, do that. Both are 144Hz. If you're willing to go with 120Hz, then you could get the XL2430T, but I'd just go with 144Hz at this point.
DP means DisplayPort. It's not necessary as long as you have dual-link DVI (which all of the XL monitors do). It's basically an HDMI-like standard used mostly for monitors. It supports much higher refresh rates than most implementations of HDMI. But it's not necessary if the monitor has dual-link DVI (DVI-DL).
Never used one aside from floor models but no. They come with cheaper non-Cherry switches despite being more expensive. You should be able to get a Quickfire keyboard for less than $110.
