There's no need. Both games will have their strengths and weaknesses and benefit from each other. At the end of the day, it comes down to individual preference.
I'm not seeing how they will "benefit from eachother" from any perspective really. From Valve/Blizzard's perspective they will be thinking of it like a business.
There's no other game that gives me the same satisfaction when doing well in a team setting or improving as a group of friends. Seeing the progress made in a serious team after a lot of work is very fun for me. That and I have met a lot of people that I really get along with while playing and those people make me want to stick around.

Make sure you increase the size of the scoreboard vertically for 4:3 because if you go as low as 640x480 or 800x600 (perhaps others too) it cuts off one person.

kirbyBeing able to counter a class doesn't make up for its incredibly tedious ability to not press any movement keys, not take significant damage and kill 3 people.
Killing 3 people without moving at all or taking damage will happen purely because the other team didn't expect a sniper, didn't bomb the sniper if they knew he was there and just in general made mistake after mistake.
