#31 Moving on to ESEA - Need some help in Q/A Help
OTLDon't run the client unless you have a match...

and check to make sure your client/account actually works at least a day in advance. Nothing worse than having to plan matches 5v6 because of client issues.

The client does this, but make sure you have your fees paid too.

#5 More Hz or More FOV? in Q/A Help

Both of my scouts (you know them) are doing the same thing; a lower res but with higher refresh rate, and I think it's paying off. 4:3 isn't too terrible to play in and even a 15 Hz boost is a lot.

#254 Esea Client Mining Bitcoins in Off Topic
AzilWe'll just have Seanbud run a new league! He organized the Tip of the Hats really well, and he's looking for a job with a degree in Business Administration!!!! Go Seanbud!:p

You heard it here first, folks, there's money in TF2.

Snarkiness aside, it'd be nice if that were true, but then we wouldn't be debating the moralities of staying or ditching ESEA.

LKincheloePersonally... If I was running an Invite team I'd be on the phone with MLG asking if they've got room for 8-12 teams.

Personally, they would need a lot more money and sponsors for such a thing to happen.

#46 Competitive TF2 Guide to Everything in TF2 General Discussion
KanecolamefxThat idea has been put out there before but we could just copy stuff from the main guide we're writing and put it there after.

The important thing is to actually get the guides and stuff finished. We need some people to help with this. If you're interested add me/mana. http://steamcommunity.com/id/lamefx

The thing is, a central site for everything comp would work better imo, a site explaining how each scene works and the differences from NA to EU for example, as well as a class guide for each class both for 6s and highlander...

Etf2l already has the newbie guide, great, tftv gonna have one soon it seems but the ideal would be something that if someone would ask on a forum "I want to start playing tf2 competitively? What should I do?" you would alwaYs direct them to the same site with every information he needs, at least thats what I aimed for when I started working on comp.tf... Still a long way to go but I think with some help it could really take off

I'm not against using comp.tf for something, but that's not a different argument than sending them here. Maybe comp.tf could curate/centralize literally all the sites? It's unclear exactly how things will end, at the moment.

frkninfinite-What would be best, IMO, would be for UGC, ESEA, CEVO to combine resources, work together, and throw a large online tournament for 6s and highlander. Between the three leagues there are enough resources available to do something awesome. ESEA's infrastructure (Anti Cheat Client, servers), UGC's huge player base and community outreach, CEVO possibly expanding to highlander finally, and then of course all the community leaders who cast, write predictions, etc. I guarantee if we did this right we could get valve to support it in one way or another as long as it's not-for-profit. LANs are extremely expensive, tons of cash is lost in overhead, and then of course there are some serious liability issues that make it impossible to run one on our own unless it's under a blanket company w/ insurance. An online tournament with the goal of making competitive tf2 accessible to the masses is the only way to go.Won't happen, ESEA is a business.

While I generally agree, I don't think it's out of question for ESEA's participation; an event like that could have some serious publicity, which I'm sure ESEA is not against.

KanecoI see there's some real interest to this... I might get back to work on comp.tf soon, if anyone wants to help shoot me a pm or add me on steam, we could talk as well kirby, could be nice, since I already have the domain and host up and running

This is an incredibly good idea. I would absolutely use the domain if I wasn't working/planning on a set of guides for here already. So, if anyone wants to work on guides, I'd most certainly start there.

swiperWouldn't it be better if things like this were in a wiki? It seems like there is just too much to put in an article, and a series of articles wouldn't really be the ideal type of organization for something like this. It would be great to organize everything into seperate wiki pages with links, categories, etc., plus it would make it really easy for multiple people to contribute to the writing.

Officially, I've discussed this with a couple of the staff and enigma as well, for now, it really could go either way. Regardless, in the early stages it's easy enough to write it for either format.

TwitchTVJohnThe future of competitive TF2 is what we make of it. Nothing is set in stone. We have some pretty talented and innovative folks around here. I'm working on it, people.

All of our coordination is going to make it work, and what we already have is pretty solid. So. Keep twitching, John.

ComangliaAs someone suggested making things more visual, I would gladly record one of my Gold/Platinum Highlander demos as Sniper, and put it on youtube if you would like that. I might do VERY limited commentary.

If it's not a hassle, it's a good idea to have some videos recorded in anticipation of what you think would make for a good guide.
