What is the context of this happening?

DwapkingI'm using 6.14.1, the one that's on the website. I've tried selecting modules through the console and the modules.cfg file. When i do it tries to load the module but fails.

something is missing in my install but i can't figure out what or why.

modules.log is used for the in-game selection, but does not affect modules.cfg. Can you share your modules.cfg?

Also, the reason why it says that error is because in a recent update, TF2 broke how in-game selection was being done. I fixed this in a mastercomfig 8 beta update.

DwapkingI cannot use modules, there is no modules.log file in tf/cfg for me. The config itself works, and I can customize specific commands via an autoexec in tf\custom\customstuff\cfg\user.

I's there a separate download for the modules that I'm somehow missing?

What version of the config are you using? Also, you can use the normal way to select modules, in modules.cfg. Do not use the =textures=high type commands in cfg files. Use textures=high in modules.cfg.

#7 Valve should remove ingame competitive in TF2 General Discussion

CS:GO has much more restricted options than TF2, yet it's a huge esport. The only thing that's really killing the competitive scene is the lack of a Valve backed tournament. Money shifts a lot of things around and makes people able to ignore annoyances.

Sure, we could also have some optimizations to the game like CS:GO has had, but really just a Valve tournament would be enough.

But I'd recommend using low, not very low if you want to enable HUD stuff. Because then you aren't the target demographic for very low, which is for people who are incredibly desperate to turn everything off.

ihatesillygibspretty cool program, i tried using it for an hour or so but due to the fact that putting everything on very low forces silly gibs im rather not interested in this program/autoexec. id rather stick to the toaster comanglia settings so i can have high fps + gore. still a cool program. id use it if it didnt look like i was a robot everytime i exploded.

This was a typo in the config settings and is fixed in the updated 6 versions or the 8 beta, sorry. I've deployed a hotfix to mastercomfig 7 to override these settings. You should get it if you apply the config again.

VictorIf I'm using the transparent viewmodel addon, does it matter what I set the motion-blur module to? (or just leave it at whatever default it uses for the preset?)

It is so fun to play. Everything feels great, weapons are unique and interesting, and the story is pretty good so far. The quality of life improvements are so good, and like 99% of the cosmetics are in-game rewards.

* Removed Bad CPU addon. The base config is now optimized enough for these CPUs as well.
* Cleaned up Very Low preset
* Adjusted packet size and compression thresholds for enhanced reliability
* Changed lighting=low to make world lighting not as dark
* Bumped up ultra modules across the board to use more costly, minor quality improvements as well
* Enabled post process pass combining always to simplify config logic
* Disabled gameplay checks for stats, so community gamemodes track stats

* Improve performance on props_high by enabling static lighting for props
* Increase packet delay limit from 30ms to 60ms
* Use dxsupport cvar values in cfg. This fixes many issues where people were not getting full performance benefits out of their modules, or were not seeing the effects of their modules properly applied.
* Added -gl_enablesamplerobjects and -gl_texclientstorage to OpenGL launch options. These options can improve texture management, and reduce memory usage.
* Mastercomfig automatically enables ropes for official Mannpower maps
* Removed cvars that were setting to default, reduces file size
* Disabled cl_showpluginmessages since the TF2 default was changed intentionally from 1 to 0 a year ago
* Enabled net graph solid ticks (like TF2 default, comfig default was improperly set to 0)
* Added early particle removals to Bad GPU. These cost time to check on the CPU, but are worth the GPU particle rendering savings on bad GPUs.

* Removed packet_size=lowend completely
* Improved documentation and fixed typos
