I do have some questions, i hope you don't mind
I have a 10.70Mbps (A Stable 10.50) (As in Mega bits, so 1.4Mega bytes, i think) Download and 0.98 Mbps (Stable 0.80 ish) upload... Not ideal, but, what network settings would be the best in my condition?

Halve the config's rate and net_splitpacket_maxrate, and use net_maxcleartime 5.

SiiLVERAlso i have a powerfull graphics card and a relatively weak CPU
(Nvidia GTX 950 2GB GPU
Intel® Xeon® E3-1280 Cache 8M 3.50 GHz [4 cores, 8 threads] CPU ) so what settings i turn on and witch one i turn off? Is there a preset that's best for me? I'm having my frames drop to 57, 60 in casual matches and stuttering issues

I've been hearing about these issues, even from someone with a i7-6700K and GTX 1080 Ti, but apparently it only happens in casual servers and not in community. Could you try a community server and see if you still get stuttering issues?

hi_Is this the new go to config? I see people recommending it a lot and no longer see people talking about the other one. I read about 6-7 pages of this thread and saw people say that the other competing config had a lower variable in fps and a higher overall fps (only by a couple though).

Excited to give it an actual try! I tried using it the other day but it didn't seem like it made a difference, I must have installed it incorrectly or something, I really like how there is a lot more explanation for the commands too.

By competing config, do you mean Comanglia's config (forum thread, download link)?

I'm not exactly sure how this config exactly compares to Comanglia's, but I've seen reports of higher FPS with mine on some PCs, with some having higher FPS on Comanglia's, both cases having small FPS differences. What I think I've seen consistently though, is that people have said it makes the game smoother and decreases load times.

I'd be happy to help with your installation process. Could you tell me what you tried to do to install it?

LindonCustom Settings for TF: -novid (-high makes no difference, so it's been removed currently)

Are those all of your launch options? I would recommend using all of the launch options listed in the mastercomfig autoexec.cfg.

Lindonand "Windows Optimisations" make no difference either.

Do you also have the high performance power plan enabled?

LindonNo matter the config I use, I seem to get a consistent 30-40 FPS mid battle (can go up to around 120+ when nothing is happening and has been known to dip below 30 since Jungle Inferno) and changing resolution does nothing. Would you be able to suggest better settings for my system perhaps, since you're more knowledgeable about these things.

As you say that decreasing graphical quality is not changing how much FPS you get in battles, I'm inclined to believe it is the stress the networking system is putting on your CPU.

Try these network settings and see how it affects your FPS.

Also, see how disabling the queued packet thread affects your FPS. Try these combinations:

net_queued_packet_thread 1
net_queued_packet_thread 1 and -NoQueuedPacketThread launch option
net_queued_packet_thread 0 and -NoQueuedPacketThread launch option

WFlashHmmm ye I noticed that the problem happened at the same time I pressed the hud_reloadscheme bind (I use it for getting rid of the annoying invisible players bug lol); I'll test to see if it happens every time I pressed it or not.

hud_reloadscheme shouldn't fix the invisible players bug. The workaround command for fixing invisible players is record fix;stop

kobeany fps difference in the decorations on the walls in maps? What's the command to disable the decorations? Also, how to disable skybox? I have a custom skybox that I use

You can disable the 3D skybox with r_3dsky 0

Go to your TF2 local files, open platform/config, delete network_config.cached.json and network_config.json. Then verify game files and launch the game and see what happens. If it's still bad, you might have to modify the network_config.json.

zanaman im glad i switched to a completely different os just to get 10 more fps

that's not the only reason. some other reasons for switching would be that linux is much more customizable, has better software mangement and is more secure. It is also free and open source, so anyone can audit the code.

sageya the bad thing about gaming in linux is that most desktop environments dont give an option to disable m. accel and force you to google how to do it manually modifying some obscure text file

lots of desktop environments nowadays do have an option to disable it in the GUI

gemmpoorer graphics drivers support on linux (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_36yNWw_07g) and weird mouse accel that i never bothered to fix were the problems that stopped me from using ubuntu when I tried it

nvidia graphics drivers have improved a lot in the past year or so

mouse accel shouldn't be a problem anymore with libinput's acceleration profiles. just use the flat profile and you should be good to go.

smesiit looks like i get overall better fps on dx81 although i could be wrong since idk much about comparing benchmarks so

You do get better FPS, probably because of your bad graphics card, but you should also play a while with dx9 and dx8 because average FPS is only part of the story. See which one feels smoother and has less stutter. If that is dx8 for you, then use it, but if not, I would sacrifice those few extra frames for more stability.

smesido you know if skins / warpaints affect fps at all?
because i benchmarked ur config with dx90 and dx81 a few days ago and appareantly and they both had the exact same results, but i feel like i get less fps in dx9
i used the old "benchmark1" demo which is quite old and doesnt show any war paints or skins in that demo cuz they didnt exist back then

DirectX 9 is much more efficient renderer that uses your graphics card more effectively. And about skins, they shouldn't affect FPS too much except for the initial generation.

I've made a very basic new benchmark that should be better at testing FPS on modern TF2 for now.
