osvaldoalso could you please explain the preloading stuff that comes with your config and how it possibly affect performance?
Could you specify what preloading stuff?

It deals only with memory allocations when loading lightmaps. The most likely and noticeable benefits are from load times and memory usage. Access times of lightmap data could possibly be reduced as well.
This problem only happens in a few maps with an abnormally large lightmap lump, so it is best to keep it enabled unless you encounter a map that it needs to be disabled for.
Whiskerr_hunkalloclightmaps set to 1 appears to cause a crash (engine hunk overflow) on some maps (such as jump_eons_b2)
That's documented in the config. Some maps have very large lightmaps that can't be stored in the hunk.
However, most of the time, the hunk has enough space to store lightmaps and therefore that behavior is preferred.
v770Hi, well, first of all i installed this config 4 days ago and sadly after that my sensitivity became very inconsistent, as if it had acceleration but not quite. I tried taking away the config, reinstalling team fortress with -default on the launch settings, etc, basically everything, but still i can't quite fix it. Any help troubleshooting this?
Maybe you used -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd in your launch options?
Alfiesorry if this has been or if this is common knowledge, how do I make australiam weapons gold again, this config seems to make them silverish.
Hm, it shouldn't make them silverish by default. Use mat_phong 1.
stephthis has no effect, unfortunately
Hm, in that case I'm not sure. Here are my best guesses, try these one by one, see which one fixes the issue: mat_reducefillrate 0, r_lightaverage 1 or r_ambientboost 1.
Calling people to test these launch options to see if they cause TF2 to crash or not:
-tools : hacky way to increase graphical quality
-filmgrain : film grain effect
I will probably never recommend these in actual play.
stephalright heres a question:
how come in certain lighting players look basically unrecognizable in regards to team color? and some props look much darker as well?

is there a way to make it brighter?
Not entirely sure what has been causing this, but I believe you can work around this issue for now with mat_mipmaptextures 0. I'll try to find out the cause in a few days, sorry about this.
stabbyRe: preloading, so my own "custom/stabbyHUD" folder then (root of /cfg folder). Thanks.
Should be in tf/custom/stabbyHUD, not in tf/custom/stabbyHUD/cfg
stabbyNo magic to it...you can do everything I use PL for (auto-setting Power Plan to "high performance" when tf2 launches, setting core affinities, setting process priorities) manually, it just automates it. Not sure what to tell you guys other than that I've done benchmarks and setting affinities gives me more frames.
By the way, does the preloading file go in the "custom" folder?
Preloading file goes in the mastercoms folder like how it is.
I meant "magically" sarcastically. Most of the time it claims that it is going to just boost CPU performance, but the Windows CPU scheduler is smarter than some third party program. Of course, there are some inefficiencies with it, but especially with the complexities of hyperthreading, I don't think any program will just work.
That being said, I'd like to see comparisons to see how much FPS you're gaining.
Could you please share your specs please? I could recommend something based on how bad your CPU and GPU are.
sageBenchmarks
Thank you for the benchmarks, sage! Did you get a chance to play with these launch options and see if they made the game "feel" different in actual play?
joshuawngood work on the config. keep it up.
Thanks!! <3
Map backgrounds are no longer needed on PC as the engine intelligently preloads assets itself.
thesqrtminus1also, does r_drawtracers_firstperson 0 have any effect on fps? i dont like tracers
setting to 0 will increase fps
thesqrtminus1ok i tested this config out and i really like it quite a lot!
thanks for making this!
also, do you have a donate link or something like that
thx so much!!!!<3
no i dont have a donate link right now but if you could just donate it to a charity, preferably one for cute animals or helping the unfortunate that would mean a llot to me <3
