Instead of learning to kill things before they kill you, learn to put yourself in a position where you're not faced with as many things that are trying to kill you
if that didn't make sense, learn positioning, and the DM will look and feel better as you won't be overwhelmed as much. TF2 isn't like some other shooters where you can win a 3 or 4 v 1 regularly. Even 1v1s should be avoided in general.
JLelongYou can't see the article when you're in the thread, that's not very convenient.
Try clicking on the bar at the top with the article title.
I honestly have no idea. I don't know that I'd cry but it would definitely be soul-crushing. I spend a whole lot of time playing this game and it'd be difficult to find a new hobby that was as fun.
jerryjigglerThis whole thread was for only to help people and for a little fun. I don't get why anyone was mad when they found out who he really was.
definitely. It's not even like he's giving terrible advice. In fact, it's pretty decent insight overall.
fucken slaves to a plant i prefer to stay above the influence so i don't become some kind of drugged out screwup i tried to play tf2 one time after i took my melatonin and i was terrible i cant even imagine playing under the effects of a drug that would take me off of my game so much i have invite dreams you see and drugs like weed and marijuana will not help me get there
give this poor asian boy a mentor, he'll pay you in coupons and karaoke sessions
manaanjirocooldream__crusherIt really isn't; I went into Open very shortly after starting competitive, and while I'm okay with doing it (since the money wasn't a problem for me), we were crushed almost every match and we ended up forfeiting a lot of them due to technical issues. The pressure is really on the line, even if it's "just Open". I would start scrimming low-mid open teams (and occasionally a high open team) to see where you are in terms of Open.
Agree. I just jumped right into open (my second or third ever competitive match was in open, and id been following the comp scene for about 3 weeks before joining a CEVO team) and to be honest, I was ready to quit tf2 entirely at the lowest point of last season. I would much rather have gone through the ranks of UGC and come into open prepared to play at a 'mid' level. I was lucky as a medic that I could blame other people for how bad I was, because I definitely would have quit if I knew how much I struggled. Looking at my demos from my first few matches is deeply painful, and I say that despite still being pretty bad in the grand scheme)
manaWow, how many open/non-invite players do you know? I'm definitely curious, though if you haven't seen me recently I've changed quite a bit from s13.
This is what gets me. It's gotta be someone in Open, right? He's given pretty specific advice that really matches what I've seen from players (alfunkso, gek, and a number of others have been totally spot-on). I dunno, I was just kind of under the assumption that we were all pretty anonymous to people outside of open.
The Open Illuminati strikes again.
alfunksoSKILL_ENHANCERalfunkso: i prescribe MGE. you've been taken down mostly by +forward scouts on the flank during s13, playing granary mid MGE will help solve this. neither of the players can get high ground, so it's pure DM and movement.you're not the first one to tell me this, and it's completely true. you must definitely be legit. many thanks.
Yeah he was spot on with what I screw up most of the time too. I'd like to figure out who it is @_@
Good players, very chill. Will be a solid team for sure.

Might get hate for this one, but I've always liked this version more than the Don Henley version. This was definitely part of the soundtrack to my middle/high school years.
new mic makes gek 2stronk
I like to think I'm pretty good at teaching and have a good enough understanding of TF2 but I don't coach because there are certainly people out there who are a LOT better than me and I'd feel best if I was paired up with another coach who can catch anything I might make a mistake on.
