#989 Cheater/Hacker thread in TF2 General Discussion
Air_http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198125490454

STEAM_0:0:82612363

just played a lobby against him
http://logs.tf/880329?highlight=76561198028572994

i knew he was cheating when he hit an entire pistol clip on me from shutter while i was in choke pushing. he also went heavy at one point and was hitting literally every bullet on someone capping from the kit by main on last.

he's in UGC iron http://www.ugcleague.com/players_page.cfm?player_id=76561198125490454

he incredibly bad movement and almost no idea of how to play, yet hit 100% of his pistols from any range.

they recently kicked this guy from their roster
http://steamcommunity.com/id/sellingsnustojack/

EDIT: your guy doesn't appear to be playing any matches or scrims with them, and that is the only log where he put up decent stats ever, and i can't load his sizzling stats profile. seems like we'll have to wait for him to cheat a little more.

KevinIsPwni think the only words they're thinking about adding are "air", "meat", "head", and "shot" to combine into a few different phrases. these will potentially be only be four out of nine emotes.

Plus you can call people "AIR HEAD" for some family-friendly insult fun.

wareya>I never said IP match means the accounts are alts - only that they have a connection.
>the protocol has always been to ban based on IP matches.

My sides

>So how would you propose we track people who use alts to circumvent bans, if not through IP checking?

For one you can not make the first assumption that IP match for a hacker ====== hacker's alt and instead just look into the actual situation when you have to? You clearly have the time to watch demos, so saving time by making the assumption that X hacker has Y as an alt simply because they shared a rare IP once is fucking ridiculous.

TF2Center is a huge site with thousands of users, and no good way to contact any individual user about a potential dispute. It seems like they're counting on the user seeing that they got a tf2center ban, then contacting the admin staff to clear up the issue. A ban is an extremely good way to get a user's attention, as it forces them to cooperate instead of just blowing you off. We get this all the time with POV requests that UGC makes. After they fail to submit POV demos in the timeframe allowed, we temp ban them and 2 hours later get all their POVs and an apology wrapped up in a bow, and they're unbanned promptly.

The policy is to put the burden of proof on the accused as a time saver. It is not an injustice, and it's not stupid. This is not a court of law, it's a video game website where bans can be undone in an hour after making a forum appeal.

fatswimdudesmobocan you find an STV/POV demo of him cheating recently since he was considered to be so obvious back then? i looked at one really quick but the stats were average and his play was not great, but his opponents weren't great either.does it matter when he cheated?

Not everyone will share my opinion here, but I think if someone is playing 100% legit now and it's been months since they've used cheats, and for whatever reason they didn't get banned before, they shouldn't get banned now.

89zombiezMankutOn page 2/3 of this thread, weren't we talking about luc (not the IM one, the UGC one) and how he was a hacker, and now he's back to playing in UGC

http://logs.tf/profile/76561198136321486

I know the team leader for the team he played on last season, I messaged him about it and this is what he said.

9:49 PM - Venom: just saying you shouldnt use that Luc's guy for your team, hes a known hacker. http://teamfortress.tv/thread/23773/cheater-hacker-thread/?page=3
9:50 PM - [AK] Impetus: i've seen that, and he's just ringing
9:51 PM - Venom: Still, its the principle

He also played two full seasons on his team http://www.ugcleague.com/players_page.cfm?player_id=76561198136321486 (called queens of the aminal kingdom)

Hes also currently leading two teams in 6s and 4s.

can you find an STV/POV demo of him cheating recently since he was considered to be so obvious back then? i looked at one really quick but the stats were average and his play was not great, but his opponents weren't great either.

SideshowI think the overall tf2 ideas like head / air / meat / shot / uber drop / etc are better than the "memes" since they'll always be relevant

this also memes are stupid and i hate them

#5 E3 Megathread in Other Games

Fallout 4 stole the show for me. It's improving on so many things, and hopefully the changes don't hurt the feel of the last two games.

There are no positive effects of the voting system for individual posts, while threads -- not events -- can get a lot out of voting.

The number itself doesn't hurt anyone, but people feel justified in saying dismissive and rude things if they feel that the community agrees with them, either with upvotes on them or downvotes on others. I think the voting system really does contribute to a lot of extra negativity that gets in the way of honest discussion.

our old pal scout-who/seven is lft. he hasn't posted any looking threads on ugc or here, but be on the lookout just in case.

Wow wtf? He's not UGC banned yet? Did they forget about him? He's already banned on TF2C.

He hasn't played in any UGC matches in a long time. The level of ban we can give him is not worth doing until he's actually trying to participate in the league. It'll probably cause more harm than good, too, as it flushes him onto an alt account.

#9 Placebo or not fps command, you decide :) in Customization

i play in dx8 with shadows disabled

cl_blobbyshadows 0
2639 frames 16.430 seconds 160.62 fps ( 6.23 ms/f) 8.725 fps variability

cl_blobbyshadows 1
2639 frames 16.824 seconds 156.86 fps ( 6.38 ms/f) 8.900 fps variability

so anyone who doesn't use shadows, ignore this completely

Dreamboatanyone know how low the mass effect series usually goes? Or the GoT tell tale game?

$9 for the whole series if you act now: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CRN9CC0/

(You can't get ME3 on Steam, so may as well get the whole series off Steam IMO)

It would be nice if we could remain civil here. I hate digging through pages of random shit looking for actual reports :/

#53 Ultiduo in UGC? in TF2 General Discussion

A few questions:

  1. What would make a good match day that doesn't interfere with anything else? HL has Mondays with playoff extra matches Thursday, 6v6 has Wednesday and Saturday, 4v4 has Friday, Dota 2 has Sunday.

Since it's easier to find a time for 4 people to meet up than 8, 12, or 18, would the ideal structure be we schedule your match, then you have one week to play it and report your score, and anything unplayed gets forfeited for both teams? Kinda like our other leagues, except we won't enforce a default match time.

  2. What kind of roster size limit/backup rules would be needed for a 2v2 league? Roster limit of 4 players?

  3. What sort of map pool could we possibly do? It seems like there are only 2 Ultiduo maps that get played. (Someone earlier said 3?) Perhaps every week you do a best of 3 with the home team having tiebreaker map choice?

I don't do any of the website stuff so I don't know if adding another game format is something we can do. If it is, I want to make sure we do it the best we can.

#15 The original in Off Topic
marmadukeGRYLLSthe only part of the original i think is broken (lets not be retarded and take this as a statement of me saying the original is actually op) is the fact that it has a goddamn silencer. if you have music on GL hearing the RJ

In like 2011 i mained pyro and the original came out and i hated the thing because i couldn't ever hear it, and i used sound cues to reflect stuff instead of visual (did you know your brain reacts to sound faster than sight?)

these days it's more like, in order to hear comms over a revved heavy at all, my mumble needs to be so loud that it masks original shots extremely well.
