EDIT: just for the record disabling mouse acceleration and getting a proper sensitivity setting on linux is a pain in the ass because of X, but I got it working well after a few hrs
I have this run after my mouse drivers launch to disable accel: xinput set-prop "Razer Razer DeathAdder" "Device Accel Profile" -1
and I use the third party razer drivers from here: http://bues.ch/cms/hacking/razercfg.html

- rename "show threads" button to "all threads"
- change "all threads" button to "forum index" when on the all threads page, per http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/5260-show-all-threads-button
- fix a script crash when not logged in

#5 gabe admitted that greenlight didn't do what it was intended to, removing the filter between developers and players on steam. I think the problem is that instead it just shifted the bottleneck to a larger crowd with different judgment, but that doesn't mean it's not at all useful, because it's a fair supplement to valve's own processing.

legacy drivers much better for razer mice when available

are you asking about recording resolution
or are you asking about a resolution that makes it better for playing the game
former: 1080p is good, the higher you go the better, use a quality graphical config while rendering
latter: native monitor resolution, obviously; lower graphics settings until you keep at least your monitor's refresh rate as a stable FPS

Quake is about spatial control just like TF2 is, the difference is that it's so much more personal and occurs in more interesting space then "you have some chokes here".
Rockets are mathematically easier to get direct hits with in Q3 than TF2, but they don't have the same utility in the times they are easier to hit like that; the LG outclasses it most of the time.
The matchmaking in QL is alright but it does have problems; I played FFA all the time and I got stuck between the two top public matchmaking tiers for months, so I would literally be juggled between the best of the pubs and people who I would absolutely destroy.
