Querti really don't know why you're getting all salty over this. he just informed the guy about your "method" (in a badly dank meme way unfortunately) since you choose not to reveal it, and instead posted a kinda cynical comment.

makes no sense, if everyone and their mother knows, no reason to lash out at the guy who just gave it away.

the method he posted is completely different, it has nothing to do with the title of the OP or my first post, except that it causes lag

like I said I didn't want this thread derailed into some shit about lag scripts. I regret making them and I'm not going to spread them that easily. I don't want to spoon feed people who can't figure out how to fill a cfg with gibberish and type exec, and the reason for that is because it gets abused it in comp. and multiplayer (which is just unsportsmanlike). the only legitimate use is jumping and specifically impossible demo maps.

so that's why you won't see me posting lag scripts on comp forums.

thanks for informing me about methods I fucking invented, which everyone and their mother knows about now, but it's not the same as execing a cfg for lag (which is more controlled).

derailing this thread into a discussion about stupid lag scripts is not what I want(ed) :/
it was just for jump maps, specifically impossible demo maps. not so ppl can abuse it in multiplayer/comp and think they are mlg.

now for your specific script I couldn't say. it may or may not affect performance. I don't use big weapon switching scripts for this reason.

Hellbentwonderlandthe ctap mechanic still works in the current version of tf2, it just wont make you go any further, and this is speculation but its because the boost from a rocket jump is at a set amount from a shitty job with the banner fix, it could be intended but I don't think so.

this boost limit would make water jumps not work, speedshots a lot weaker, ctaps the same as normal jumps, skips and pogo's stronger. so it fits.

It seems like its just 1 glitch that manages to break everything, not a bunch of purposeful changes, so I would expect this to be reverted.

pretty sure they just changed the jump mechanics so everyone automatically ctaps on jump

for those that dont know, basically ctaps clip your model into the floor a bit and that's why you go further and also take more damage (closer to the explosion)

the reasoning behind me thinking that valve somehow made it so everyone ctaps is that you can kill yourself with 2 stickies as you do a regular jump. You cannot kill yourself with 2 stickies pre-update, it only put you down to 1 or 2 health, but if you ctapped you were able to kill yourself (model glitching into floor).

Kinda nerdy but ya. For those that like the new rocket jumps congratulations you are basically perfectly ctapping every jump now. For those that actually knew how to do it pre-update i guess we wasted our time.

the current jump is like a perfect crouch jump or possibly a bit more. its not as much as a ctap certainly
the angle can be modified beyond what was possible with a perfect rocket jump (eg: a shallow angle, but still getting 100% boost) so that is a big reason why we can get more distance than before.
it is not as much boost as a ctap but it can be directed better (old ctap still goes a bit further at the end of the day)

when you do a ctap you take more damage, which is representative of the extra boost/distance, so when a 27 dmg rocket jump goes the same as a 42+ dmg its not surprising that ctap is the same as those as well.

ctap has nothing to do with uncrouched vs crouched run speed thats a myth.

jumping is extremely broken

waterjumps, speedshots, ctap, crouch+shoot are all broken
normal rocket jumps feel different, jumps past 3 rockets (well I think it's a certain amount of time) are awful (walljumps, pogos, everything), 27 dmg rocket jumps go really far (and all low angle jumps)

cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate should be 66 or 67 (if your internet can't handle that just quit)

rest of the settings people can argue about all day and its somewhat preference.

cl_interp can be a range of things. specially for hitscan it can be almost whatever you want.
typical settings are 0.033 hitscan, 0.0152 soldier/demo
I'd recommend 0.035 on hitscan, 0.1 sniper, 0.02 soldier/demo
cl_smooth up to you, it's usually 0, I prefer 1 specially for prediction classes

maybe increase the rate a bit like rate 50000
the rest of your config is fine

in general if your connection is inconsistent you will want a bit higher interp, high ping in itself isn't the issue.
I wouldn't recommend using the bad network settings from chris' config ever
