#23 Need to get opinions for a simple question in Off Topic
WaldoIn all honesty, you have to look at the fact that long prison sentences (15y<) actually cost a lot for the government that is instituting them.

Death penalty actually costs a lot, they even say it costs more than prisoning the person for entire life.

#7 TF2 Stuttering with new 144hz monitor in Hardware
profix-freq 144 and -refresh 144 do nothing. TF2 uses the refresh rate you set in windows. :)

I'm using a CRT which can do 120 Hz at 800x600 and I need to set the refresh rate manually at the launch options, otherwise it won't use 120 Hz. -refresh/freq forces your monitor to use the refresh rate you specify (unless your monitor doesn't support it).

#21 1024*768 in TF2 General Discussion

If you're using 4:3 resolution the FOV will be smaller than 16:9 / 16:10, making your view look like it's zoomed in which will make player models "bigger".

#12 What does everyone think about this CRT as a gamin in Hardware

Don't trust CNET for CRTs refresh rates, most of the time it's bullshit.

As for CRTs for gaming, I'm currently using an CRT @ 800x600 120 Hz and it's amazing compared to my 60/75 Hz LCD, the biggest downsides I could find:
Weights A LOT and really large in size.
Power hungry bitch.
It's hard to see objects in games that are far away, especially QL (it's probably because my CRT is 17 inch).

7850 1 GB model to 2 GB (for even cheaper)
120 Hz monitor.
Single channel memory changed to dual channel.
A cheaper keyboard (which isn't bad, mine is still nice after 2 years of use), I don't see the reason to pay more if it's not mechanical.
520W should be fine for now, but in the long run I'd rather save up some more money and buy a PSU with more power then you could just upgrade your GPU and still be good to go.

kirbyya, but it doesn't tell me what i have to do to get them.

Just turn on/play the game and that's it, as far as I know you don't need to do anything special to get card drops.

#7 Advice please :) in Hardware
OblivionageDo you need to buy a monitor? I suggest either an fx-8350 or an i7-3770k(@microcenter they are around 250 so it's a good deal)

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

without monitor it's around 700. i recommend either selling that 560 ti in the future and buying something newer like the 660 or 7870 etc.

Why are you recommending him i7-3770K if there's a new generation equivalent?

The names were quite hard to read for me. In my opinion, I think the country flag should be near the name.

PlatypusBudget: 2000-2500

If you're not going to wait for Haswell CPUs release. I've picked CPU cooler because even at stock speeds it can reach pretty high temperatures. I would still suggest that you should overclock, it's not hard and you'll be able to get more FPS, you'd just need to change the i5-3570 to i5-3570K.

As for the peripherals, I don't know anything about keyboards, you might want to take a look at the forums here, I've seen some posts/threads about mechanical keyboards.
For the mouse, I haven't really seen mice with 3 buttons for quite some time right now, most of them are made with 5 buttons. I was used to 3 button mice, but when I had to make a switch to 5 button one the extra 2 buttons didn't hinder me and I actually find some use for them.
These are my favourites from seeing reviews/using them. All of these have nice sensor in them.

Razer DeathAdder 2013
Razer DeathAdder
Razer Abyssus
Logitech G400 (I've heard it's discontinued)
The DeathAdders build quality isn't that good, but mine has been going pretty strong for ~2 years already.

Mouse pads, from what I've gathered these are the ones that are mostly used:
Razer Goliathus (I'm using this one myself, it's pretty nice and it's quite sturdy, I've washed it a few times and it always comes out clean, just like when I bought it.

#16 Building a pc, I don't know much though in Hardware
EmmaWatsonHoly shit guys, he doesn't need a 7950 or a 660 ti just to run tf2 with another monitor. What I have is an fx-8350 @ 4.4ghz and a sapphire 7850 2GB @ 1140 MHz (please be aware this is a 33% overclock) and I have a dual monitor setup. I always get above 120fps.
