When I had FPS drops I reinstalled the game by deleting the Team Fortress 2 folder (you should of course make a backup of your needed files).

Hi, I've been seeing a lot of new threads everyday where people are asking for some help choosing their PC parts, I thought it would be a pretty nice idea to make one thread where people can ask for help.

Usage of the PC (gaming, work, etc.):

Are you going to overclock:
Are you going to use parts from your older PC?:

Example

Do you need a monitor: Yes.
Are you going to overclock: Yes.
Are you going to use parts from your older PC?: Yes, HDD, ODD and case.
Other thoughts: I want 120/144 Hz monitor.

tornados2111This might be a stupid question but can you actually notice the difference in the sensor and actually play better with it or is the difference too small to notice but you just know that the movements are more accurate because there is none of this "prediction" and acceleration?
If your current mouse is absolute crap you should notice it, but I guess it depends from people to people, when I switched from some random, cheap mouse to Razer DeathAdder I've definitely noticed a difference, ranging from the ergonomics, build quality (compared to my old mouse) to the tracking quality of the sensor.
I've always been a fan of FPS games.
Quake
Quake III
Quake Live
Doom I
Doom II
Counter-Strike
Half-Life
I'd change the GTX 680 with HD 7970, because of the new drivers it's faster on most of the games, overclocks nicely AND it's actually cheaper, the 3 GB version costs 3299 NOK, if you're running multiple displays the 6 GB version costs 4499 NOK.
About the configs, you could try using dx9frames or even highframes, they don't (completely) destroy how TF2 looks, but it'll get you some more frames AND should reduce the CPU usage.
Listen to Epoch, the CPU cooler he suggested is pretty awesome for its price, installing the cooler is really easy, there's a lot of guides around YouTube, just like this one.

If you're really scared that you're going to break anything ask someone from your friends who know about this kind of stuff, but I'm sure you could do it yourself.
Put your CFGs into Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/NAMEHERE/cfg/.
Install custom HUDs into Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/INSERT RANDOM NAME HERE/
Just put the resource and scripts folders in there, it should work.
Either I'm blind and I can't see it or there's no function to preview your post/thread. A function to preview your post/thread would be really nice.
Lights_Didn't want to make my own thread, but if I change my sensitivity in TF2, when I re-launch the game it resets to my old one. Anyone have this issue with Steampipe?
Try putting sensitivity "*" in your autoexec.cfg, it should fix your problem.
* - Your desired number.
Put your resource and scripts folders in SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/INSERT RANDOM NAME HERE/
flippersok so what commands would i have to put in my autoexec for my hitsound, damage, and game volume.
Game volume: volume 0.1*
Hitsound/Damage: tf_dingalingaling "1"
tf_dingaling_pitchmaxdmg "100" *
tf_dingaling_pitchmindmg "100" *
tf_dingaling_volume "1.00" *
* - Change to your preference.
