Hello,
Looking for a build around 1200€. Asked a friend: http://www.ldlc.com/b-e620dbd0207c2776.html here's his suggestion. As of today I only own a laptop, therefore I'll need a brand new monitor. No wifi card needed. I mainly play TF2 & Quake but a nice framerate on more recent games would be nice.

Seagate Barracuda is a bit cheaper and faster.
CX450M is the same price and far better.
Go for a mobo that's not quite as low end (at least 4 RAM slots) e.g. ASRock B150M Pro4V or Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H and just 8GB RAM instead.

First of all thanks for your time.
I made a pcpartpicker with the changes you were suggesting: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/kgnPzM
Am I missing out on anything (bar keyboard which I deliberately removed) or is the displayed price much lower on this site?
Finally, is this monitor (Acer XF240H) the better option compared to the more often suggested BenQ/Asus? I'm candid on the topic and my eyes tire quickly, I'm willing to spend a bit more for comfort if the gap in quality is worth it.

Hey, I've been looking to build a fairly cheap gaming PC for mostly tf2 and recording/editing videos (nothing too intensive, just probably editing some audio and testing various things).
After asking a bunch of friends for recommendations I came up with this list so far:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/WrzCr7
Just missing a graphics card, and if anyone knows any deals on a hard drive, would be appreciated. I had my mind set on the gtx1050's that came out recently but a lot of people are saying it's not worth it, so I'm a little lost as to which one I should get. (I wanna be able to play some recent games at a decent fps, but being able to run tf2 well is a priority for now.)
Also looking for a monitor, but I'm not factoring it into my budget, any decently priced recommendations would be stellar.
Kinda hoping to get everything ready before black friday so I can get the best deals on things while I can. Any help would be appreciated. My budget barring the monitor is under $600 CAD.
Thanks in advance!
side note: would love a graphics card that i can use to stream instead of putting the load on my cpu

Hello, I've been looking for a reasonably affordable gaming PC. I will be playing many Valve games (TF2, CS:GO, etc.), GTA V, etc.
My top price is around $450, give or take some. I also have another PC I can salvage including these parts (only showing parts worth salvaging, selling or keeping other parts) - Seagate ST1000DM003 (1TB, SATA), RAM (4 GB).
I am looking for minimum 60FPS on relatively high settings, if not highest. I want to use Shadowplay.
I have a 1080p monitor (HP 22uh) that I can use. I have an office mouse and keyboard. I will be getting the OS separately. I also have a decent case, it just looks extremely ugly.
I would love a PCPartPicker list.
Current list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/dNqHRG
The list does not include parts I already have
What I need:
-[OPTIONAL] Well ventilated, good looking case
Note:
I do NOT need an SSD. Sure, it could be useful. But, they are too expensive for my very picky wants.
Please tell me your critiques.
Thanks in advance.

See, that's the thing. I have almost no experience in in-depth PC building. When I finish making this PCPartPicker list, I'll link it.
EDIT:

I need a case and anything else you guys see wrong.
I do not need an OS, as stated above.
Quick edit:
Just noticed the mobo I chose doesn't have USB ports. Changing.

Get 2x4GB not 1x8GB, also you selected the 2TB version of the HDD by accident.
Yes the prices is lower because it doesn't include sales tax.
Rough estimate 1.1$/€ but 20% sales taxes means ~10% higher prices in Europe.
So a bit under 1100$ ~ a bit over 1200€ is completely normal.
No, the monitor is not better.
What do you want though? 120/144Hz I guess, but what about size, resolution, panel type* and G-/FreeSync?
*IPS or TN. Basically TN = bad colours, bad viewing angles, cheap, fast (easy to get >120Hz)
IPS = good colours and viewing angles, expensive, slow (144Hz is very expensive)
So 144Hz isn't really possible it's more about the choice between 60Hz IPS and 144Hz TN, but I wanted you to know about all options.
There's also VA which is somewhere between TN and IPS but fairly rare so I wouldn't go looking for it specifically.
#1775
Do you want an HDD or an SSD? Because even now you can't really afford a 1050 without compromising the rest of the build so with an HDD as well there's really no way.
GPU encoding has been standard for a while so any GPU will have it, but the quality is definitely lower than with CPU encoding. Don't expect your stream to look great.
1050 is ok, but you'd need about 10-20$ higher budget.
1050 Ti is the one that's somewhere in no man's land. If you're trying to safe money the 1050 is not much slower and significantly cheaper, if you want performance the RX 470 is way faster and not much more expensive.

Recording or streaming? Just making sure.
The RAM is probably DDR3 or older. If it's in multiple sticks then it's not worth the trouble and even a 1x4GB is <20$ so it's not really worth the trouble (most new mobos use DDR4).
I'll see what I can do later today or tomorrow.

144Hz is important to me, I'll go with TN then (colors aren't my main preoccupation anyway) since they're cheaper. Thanks for the clarification regarding the price & more generally for helping so much people on this topic!

Also strobing/Lightboost.
LightBoost sounds useful from what I've read, I definitively want it if its not too expensive. I know G-/FreeSync is supposed to reduce the tearing but I can probably live without (especially if it ups the price by >100$). 24", 1920x1080.
Edit: just read that LightBoost and 144Hz are not compatible: is the blur reduction worth it or just personal preference?

Lightboost maxes out at 120Hz so yes, I'd say it's worth sacrificing 24Hz for that.
Anyway your best option for that would be the BenQ XL2411Z.

If you want to use up the whole budget either get an SSD
http://pcpartpicker.com/list/HrvL7h
or get an even better GPU (460 is already twice as fast as the 750 Ti)

I'm not exactly in a hurry, it's your build.
Please just put the part list in the newest post so I don't have to scroll up. I'm lazy.

Well Setsul I got my PC yesterday, so far everything's working pretty great and up to my expectations in every aspect.
I even got my dual monitors working although since I didn't have a dvi to hdmi/dp adapter I had to connect my second one to the motherboard, which required a change of the internal graphics setting in the bios.
I'm not sure if this situation is good for the long run or weather I should get the adapter and have the both connected to the gpu, what would you suggest?
All in all just wanted to thank you for the really useful and insightful help, probably would've been a lot harder without it.

As long as you don't do anything on the second monitor that the integrated GPU can't handle it should be fine.
So watching a stream on the second monitor is no problem at all, but gaming is not recommended.

I'm looking to use Shadowplay, though. I should probably put that in the original thread. Sorry.

Hey, I'm looking to build my first PC by the end of the year and wanted to know if anyone could set me up with a build. My budget is $900 USD.
I'm incredibly ignorant when it comes to parts and building, so bear with me. I'd like to be able to get a solid 200 FPS playing Overwatch and TF2, while being able to run current+ gen games smoothly without having to bottom out my graphics.
I currently have an i7-4770 core and a Dell 1XMMV 460W Power Supply on my prebuilt which I was planning to reuse IF that's okay. These parts are about 3 years old, if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance, let me know if I need to specify anything.

GVR/raptr/plays.tv does the same. Any reason why it needs to be Shadowplay specifically?
#1794
But if you're keeping your CPU you should obviously keep the mobo.
And the RAM.
And if you're keeping PSU and mobo why not keep the case as well?
Basically you want a new GPU and that's it.
And honestly, there's nothing else that needs upgrading.

Thanks for the reply. I've gotten some other suggestions to just upgrade my card as well. If that's the case, then I'll probably get one of the new Nvidia cards. Should I upgrade my cooling as well to compensate for it?

How do you compensate a better GPU with cooling? What are you trying to compensate for?
I'm sorry like I said, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this. Forget it, thanks anyway.
Is anything overheating now? Or do you just have no GPU at all (or a very low power one) right now so you're concerned the new GPU might overheat?
@setsul if i wanted to get a build from you, would it be worth waiting for black friday/ cyber monday?
im looking to upgrade 2 PCs, used for gaming and work, price is pretty flexible
games: tf2, h1z1, csgo, ow, arma3, ark, rocket league, and future games
work: photoshop/ illustrator/ dreamweaver & video editing
i was thinking of an i7 6700k, i dont need video cards, or peripherals, they have an 840 evo 250GB ssd, should i look into upgrading that as well?
so i need mobo/processor/ram/psu and a case for sure
let me know if you need any more info, thanks!
