Yes, a bit.
Anything that uses more than 8 threads.
You will probably regret buying one right before the Zen release though.
Don't forget the added mobo cost.
i'm an intel/nvidia fanboy, but how much better is Zen from the 6800k? i might consider it.
this is my 6800k build if you wanna look at it:

I'm saving up for either a 1070 or 1080, but idk which one to get.
Also do you know when the 7800k is coming out?

Well that's kind of difficult to say, considering it's not released yet.
750W is overkill, unless you're going for multiple GPUs.

should i wait for the 7800k?
when would the 1080 shine over 1070 besides playing games at like 4K ultra?\
edit: ive searched some shit up and a couple of people are saying to get the i7 5820k instead of 6800k or 7700k. should i get that instead?

Literally doesn't matter. I mean you don't want FreeSync/G-Sync, you don't want Lightboost, you don't really care about colours. Seems like the cheapest will do.
#2109
Well can you wait?
It's 20% faster, less on lower resolutions. Not exactly shining either way for a 50% higher price.
Well if you want a slower CPU, sure.

yeah it is slower, but the people who are recommending the 5820k over the 6800k are saying that the 5820k overclocks a lot better than the 6800k. is that true?

Depends on how you define "a lot better" and how much Voltage you're willing to dump on it.
I'd expect something like 4.4 vs 4.6 on air.
If a few percent more or less make a difference for you either get a 5930K or 6850K or wait for the 7800K.

well those two are out of my budget haha so I guess 6800k will be fine for me. Is there an advantage to using a water cooler over air cooler (corsair h100i vs noctua d15) to overclock the 6800k to atleast 4.0ghz?

Aios are not water coolers, they are a waste of money and a travesty. Worse than air coolers.
I just posted that again 3 days ago.
H100i is worse than the NH-D15.
The 6800K turbos to 3.6 already, you can just blow on it really hard to cool it at 4.0. So that's really not going to be a problem, even with a cheaper cooler than the D15.

just another quick question, will the 1070 handle dual 1080p 144hz monitors well? I'm going to make my current monoprice 144hz monitor my secondary and buy a benq xl2411 for my primary

Maximum number of monitors is 4.
Maximum output resolution*refresh rate is equal to over 6 1920*1080*144Hz monitors.
So I guess it should work.

Can I say 7100?
6500 would be 2% faster, so not worth the price. 6300 or 7100 will beat both.
OC'd 7350K will be by far the fastest.

Well if it's just for TF2 you could've gotten the same performance for less.
It's not slower than a 6100 and within 5% of a 6320. So I really wouldn't worry that much. 50$ are not going to kill you and other programs do benefit from an i5.

The i5 will give much better performance in any game, due to its 4 cores instead of the i3's 2. Tf2 is a very CPU intensive game, so the I5 is so worth the extra money :-)

Yeah, you're ignoring the fact that a lot of games like TF2 won't even use more than 2 Threads.
But by all means, just ignore the fact that I benchmarked TF2 and that there was a 5% difference between an i3 and i5 (due to things that I won't bother to explain), so the highest clockrate wins.

I read about how the nh-d15 can have some clearance issue with the gpu on some mobos. Will it have issues on the asus x99-a ii? If so, will the nh-d15s with dual fans be as good as the d15?

Setsul5% difference between an i3 and i5.
with both clocked the same?
also i guess to contribute to the thread setsul do you happen to know if there are any mini-itx motherboards with onboard wifi and a slot for a m.2 nvme ssd (like an intel 600p)

Distances are standardized. First slot is always awfully tight. If the GPU got a backplate it's not happening.
So if the first slot is a x1 slot no problem, since the GPU will go in the second slot. Otherwise it's not happening.
D15S is very close with both fans. Either is probably overkill though.

Yes.
Yes there are. http://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#f=8&E=1,3&sort=a8&e=31,15,30,14,6,8

I WORDED THIS REALLY BADLY!!!
Tf2 isnt VERY demanding on the CPU at all, but I feel like and I5 is just a better investment, as it is just a better CPU overall, and you will see benefits in things other than gaming :-) Sorry!

More like you have absolutely no idea.
TF2 is one of the most CPU intensive games. It only uses 2 cores though, so a quad core doesn't do shit.
The question was which CPU would perform better in TF2.
