Most guns are pretty fucking stupid but I don't think this is really a good case to argue in favor of gun control. When a mildly resourceful crazy person premeditates mass murder, legal barriers/speed bumps aren't super effective. Unrelated but I found this passage from his manifesto really interesting. It talks about when the police showed up at his apartment after his mom saw his creepy ass youtube videos and called a hotline.

those last few lines are enraging. like it would be the worst thing ever if the cops discovered and foiled his plan to kill innocent people. he got off easy, the little shit.

They can't just ask to go into someone's home.

When was the lat time someone acted out in premeditated fatal violence against innocent non-combatants and was not branded crazy?
My point being that people only realize other people are crazy after the violent rampage.
If anything all those millions of misogynists may be "crazy" in waiting because they haven't acted on it.
To say that misogyny wasn't a contributing factor is completely off base. His rationality and reasoning while warped were completely singled upon women and sex. Doesn't it strike you as significant that he did act out against women as his primary target rather than his parents or movie stars? I find it hard to believe that it was just random coincidence that women were the justification of his violence and the eventual victims. Violence like this is occurring now is possibly because there is a vocal reaction to feminism, even though feminism on the whole has been beneficial to all members of society in one way or another. But that is a completely different discussion.
The same issue of apparent craziness versus latent craziness applies to guns. Elliot Rodgers was reported to the authorities multiple times yet he was not stopped for the same reason you cant detect 'crazy' behavior (violent massacre) before it happens because plenty of people express 'crazy' thoughts on the internet. Subsequently he was able to procure a gun despite being reported.
Additionally guns don't cause violence they make fatal violence much easier. Much as you can have a genocide using knives and rocks like in the killing fields of Cambodia or you can have a genocide using Nuclear weapons, if you can't tell the difference in speed, efficiency, and ease between the two you may be 'crazy'.
Would guns have prevented this massacre? Probably not. Gun defenders seem to forget that there is such a thing as the element of surprise and no matter how many action films you watch and video games you play its kind of difficult to over come that.

you can say no but theres no rule against officers (afaik) to ask about entering your home. legally they can't enter without a warrant, but theres no harm to ask...

Pretty sure Anders Breivik (killed 60 or so kids in a shooting in Norway a few years ago) had to go through extremely extensive planning in order to get a hand on a gun without autorities reacting, and it still was only a semi-automatic hunting rifle. Gun control plays a huge part is how easy this is to pull off and I'd argue it's one of the main reasons this happens in the US way more than in the rest of the world.

MemphisVonExquisiteStoneAll I see in this thread is Americans defending their gun law rights, and giving the statement "they can get their hands on guns anyway" So basically you're saying, If they want to do it, why don't we just make it a hell lot easier for them.
All these killing spree's are by white outcasts who are in highschool/college, Here where I live it's kinda really hard to your hands on those type of weaponry if you aren't involved in any sort of criminal group, or know those type of sketchy people.
I am not saying the reason there are more killing spree's in america like this than anywhere else in the world because america allows guns, but I really don't get if we as humans want to move forward into a "peaceful" world, why you'd need those guns, it just seems rather uncivilised.
If someone wants to kill people and they are motivated enough, it doesn't matter if we ban guns or not. That's not the only point defending gun ownership its just the most glaring fact because its a counter point. Everyone attacking gun ownership thinks 'less guns = less crime'. You have to think about all of the other reactions that banning them would do. Every other country that has banned guns has seen a drop in gun crime but a rise in other violent crimes.
If you're walking down the street with your bird and me and my 4 big niggas want to get a piece of that ass. It's all up to us. It's 5 v 1 and you have no force multiplier. We're going to fuck your girl and then fuck you and there's nothing you can do about it. We know that there's nothing you can do about it because guns have been banned. If you don't think shit like this happens read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murders_of_Channon_Christian_and_Christopher_Newsom
Now imagine you were carrying a concealed firearm. That story might end differently. Guns do stop crime. Imagine if these guys didn't have their concealed firearms. http://5newsonline.com/2014/05/10/police-shooting-at-central-mall-in-fort-smith/ It would have been up to the crazy guy when he stopped shooting. These two guys decided not to be victims.
This shit didn't happen back in the day. We still had guns 30 years ago. Guns are the not the cause of these crimes, they are simply a tool used. I think it has the most to do with our culture and our ability to prescribe SSRI's like candy. Mind you, you don't need guns to fuck people up in a "peaceful" world. You can just pull some shit like the Unabomber. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Kaczynski
It's kind of ridiculous to say "If you're walking down the street with your bird and me and my 4 big niggas want to get a piece of that ass. It's all up to us. It's 5 v 1 and you have no force multiplier."
Because I can just as simply that they'd all have weapons as well, making you and 1 gun useless again.
Your idea is basically, whoever has the more firepower wins which will result in nothing.
I am not saying all guns can just be removed from the US, that'd be impossible, however I can not see why you all stand behind your gun laws.

Well in this example, if you have a gun it's very likely that those 5 "niggas" also have a gun. So you're fucked anyway. Nonetheless, I think that being able to legally own guns is definitely a good thing IF you're responsible. Unfortunately some americans aren't. :/

Also he gave up when he was only 22 wtf, there's like 4 fuckin billion women in the world, at least 1 of them would have liked him. Shit there probably still is.(lets be honest)

People can hate on guns all they want, but it's a party of America. Where else can I drink PBR, Watch Nascar, and snuggle with my .30-06? All jokes aside, even if he didn't have access to guns, he would have done it some other way. Be it a bomb, knives, some sort of gas(?). Dudes in China stab up schools and shit. People just love to hate on guns. Taking away a part of a problem isn't gonna fix the whole thing. It wasn't one thing that caused this, but several.

ExquisiteStoneIt's kind of ridiculous to say "If you're walking down the street with your bird and me and my 4 big niggas want to get a piece of that ass. It's all up to us. It's 5 v 1 and you have no force multiplier."
Because I can just as simply that they'd all have weapons as well, making you and 1 gun useless again.
It's not ridiculous at all. You'd have a much better chance defending yourself with a firearm against untrained individuals than you would in a fist fight. I've been to the range around some hoodlums and it was scary being around them simply because of the way that the handled the firearms. They really had no idea what they were doing. We ended up leaving once we saw how they were acting/shooting. Most criminals don't take the time to go to the gun range and train. Also, most criminals aren't going to get into a gun fight with you when they have the option to run. I'm not saying that you win simply because you have a gun. What I'm saying is, you definitely increase your chances.
Just think that this could have been stopped by some good samaritan had they had a concealed firearm when this shit was going down. Unfortunately it happened in California where it is ridiculously hard to obtain and keep one. He was able to kill 7 people before the police showed up. Some good can come from people defending themselves with firearms: http://www.buzzfeed.com/ryanhatesthis/10-potential-mass-shootings-that-were-stopped-by-someone-wit

so basically I'm going to die anyways, ok
I think guns(weapons in general) are the worst invention mankind has ever created. A tool, not used to help, assist, but to kill. Knives were made to cut, cars were made to transport, and these firearms, they're just here to take someone's life, and it's just horrible-and it still boggles my mind that people want to have a thing like this around their house, around their kids and family. Do not misunderstand me, I don't want gun control, I want gun abolition. Gone. I'm tired of the mass shootings, the robberies, the rape, etc.
I think a better self defense arsenal would be an OC spray, TASER, or a handleheld weapon of some sort.
