i46 was August 25th-26th.
I won't add anything further to this discussion.

Remember that demos were broken for a decent amount of time, though.

Yep, well over two months. I spent easily 50+ hours on a 3 minute frag video (though I'm significantly less experienced than LuckyLuke is so there's that) and the documentary clocks in at 36 minutes. I can barely even imagine how time-consuming that shit was.

My excuse for that post is that apparently vicodin pisses me off.
And yeah, it's definitely been a very long time since the event. I do wish we'd gotten it out a lot sooner, but the product would not have looked nearly as good as it does now.

The docu is looking awesome. There was a lot of footage and audio to handle and break down. We're at 8 months right now, and that's completely reasonable for one person editing a 35-minute movie, basically on volunteer time. Luc's created a bunch of animations for it as well, on top of just regular editing. We could be done in a month, but I'd say either Mid/Late June or a July release date. I'd like to take it to Valve and get some feedback.
We'd like to put out bonus footage, but we've been weighing whether to delay production by having luc work on a more polished preview (there is a good interview with Ruwin we only use a little of), or by just releasing all that stuff fairly untouched after the documentary is finished.
As Sal said, I think we all would have liked to get it out earlier, and move on with our lives, but we also want to make sure it's awesome once it's finished.

I am certain I speak for a large majority of people.
We fully appreciate your efforts and realise this is a big task. We look forward to seeing something when its ready! :)

I think it would be nice to just release unedited footage that isn't being used right now, since everything else is so close to being done. I'm sure people wouldn't mind raw tapes of interviews and stuff.

I'll talk to Luc again. He's actually getting pretty reared up to get back into editing as the workload begins to shift towards Airon (Audio finishing) and the rest of us (final critiques, gathering feedback from a select few others). May Top 10? During that period Luc can prolly get out some of that footage. Will definitely show him this thread.

To be fair the post you're quoting is itself over a month old which is actually kind of ironic.

I would like to see some i49 footage included in this if possible. I realize doing this will most likely throw off the already well established feel of the films story, but I can't help suggesting it. Mainly due to i49 being right around the corner, but it's obvious how much more work/money is involved if it was a possibility. Most great documentaries usually cover their subject piece for many months - years even. Obviously there is no budget to this but I'm just sayin man
