I've been talking to several top prem players and practically no one hasn't been opposed if not indifferent to this decision. I feel like the only way to actually hope for any change is for people to comment on this thread if they are opposed to this decision by ETF2L to move s37 to 2021. Hopefully if enough people complain the admins will feel somewhat compelled to change their minds.
No one has asked for nations cup or highlander to replace the fall/winter 6's season. Neither the cup or highlander should take priority and delay 6's to 2021 when 2 seasons of 6's can be played before Copenhagen. Only a small percentage of players can even play nations cup whereas everyone can play a 6's season, I don't understand the admins thought process here.
i finally got motivation to play now and i dont want to wait 6 months to lose it again
Completely agree, please dont delay the season to 2021. People have way more time than usual to play games, I’m 100% sure that an earlier s37 will be more competitive with older players coming back. I would personally feel completely demotivated if i knew there wasnt a season until january.
me n eemes have a super team for s37 pls keep it this year
As the div1 representation in this thread id like to say that all of us lil guys would love to play tf2 within the next 6 months also :)
we are stuck inside because of covid, lets also take away our ability to play tf2 :)
wanted to comeback after a short break but i guess nvm then

I don't understand why the admins want to put the quality of prem at risk. A lot of teams underperformed but I think player-wise the season was very stacked and next season looked maybe even better because of COVID-19, the end of summer and just in general some more players returning. Also I know viewership isn't too great but it's gonna further decline if there is no 6s season, people are gonna lose interest and the demand for online tournaments is pretty low so there is no upside to this.
I mean if we're waiting that long can we at least come back and not have to play against engineer
boring to play against, requires no skill, nobody above mid has ever played a 6s match and said oh boy can't wait to set up a sentry on last
just get rid of it

In my opinion there is no upside to running plugin/map/whitelist cups instead of a season. Of course testing of the game should be carried out, but this could easily happen in the off season. In raf’s proposed dates there would still be a month where cups could be held to test these changes. In the past the cups have had really poor signups from the top few divisons, and therefore dont show the impacts of the changes as well as lower division teams as they dont push the limits of the game as much.
I strongly believe that if etf2l takes this decision it would be a disaster for the league. This would completely kill players and teams motivation as there wont be any real competition until january. I feel this is a missed opportunity to have one of the best seasons in recent history. Due to covid 19 people actually want to play an online league (which is really rare) as there is no chance of lans happening soon. Why not embrace this amazing chance of having a more popular season amongst all divisions, and probably a more competitive/exciting prem. I just cant understand why on earth would you pull the season and let players and teams hang around until january. I am convinced that this would lead to some players moving away from tf2 all together and by january possibly shrink the european scene.

like i can kinda understand the Data Restoration point but everything else is just so not relevant, the next season and "promod testing period" dont have to be mutually exclusive things at all (we already jumped head first into alot of changes this season), LAN next year maaaaaybe conflicting scheduling wise is a moot point when there is no guarantee it will even happen in the current state of the world
normally im fully on board to have just that bit more time between 6s and HL season so its less stressful for people that play both but like almost everyone has said already, not having a proper season for the rest of the year is legitimately harmful for the scene and i dont understand how that is not something anyone on the admin team can instantly recognize.
Cups dont drive the same engagement, in an ideal world they would but with the structure of the competitive TF2 scene they will always be seen as lesser, and i dont think that even the direct lack of a season to compete in would change that fact.
If the current outcry against this decission hasnt been enough to make the admin team aware of how much the community is against the currently scheduling plan then idk what will even make them reconsider at this point, nobody wants this.

Etf2l season is opening back up shortly, but you must wear a mask

if it's so important to test things, put it in the season. justdoit. i figure, this is season number 37. there are gonna be plenty more. i understand why people are apprehensive to commit to months of playing the game slightly differently, but if changes are really awful, why can't they be reverted?
at the very least i bet we can all agree that having a test season is better than having no season.

Yeah, with the current justification the lack of a full season should give place to test cups but much less people will care about something like that and/or play much less serious in cups to the point that there would be less and less productive feedback than if you were to have S37 be the test period and just have no "interesting cups" instead.

etf2l seasons arent some sacred things where every rule has to be perfect for every player, especially not now prize money is gone, but theyre still what everyone wants to play. if etf2l wants to test any significant gameplay change, the only way to get the most valuable feedback from the best teams is to put said change into a season. This autumn especially seems like a good time to start thinking about rulesets for copenhagen but little cups and 'mini seasons' just arent going to have the right players to evaluate a change
The scene has been given an unexpected but welcome boost due to covid. Let's not squander that by taking our foot off the gas.
