I got two friends arguing on how to identify syncs
one of them says a sync is defined by how many rockets are in the sync in total
and the other is saying that a sync I defined by how many rockets are synced not counting the last rocket used to jump

a sync is defined by the rockets used in the air, not counting the last rocket.

sync = 2 rockets
double sync = 3 rockets
quad = 4 rockets

no logic thats just what theyre called
urmphinah i think its
sync = 2
double = 3
triple = 4
quad = 5
"double" and "double sync" are separate terms. "double" would be a sync, but u just say sync. saying "triple" when u mean 4 rockets is nonsensical.

it doesnt make any sense tho, cus no one calls a sync with 2 rockets a double sync

syncs are identifed by the number of rockets used in total, including on the ground
2 rockets= double
3 = triple etc.

I think of it as the sync is defined by how many rockets you shoot in the air, not counting the floor
I think of it as the sync is defined by how many rockets you shoot in the air, not counting the floor
the way i think of it is
a sync is when you synchronize one rocket with another rocket which means that there are 2 rockets
so using that logic a double sync is when you synchronize two rockets with another rocket with a total of 3 and so on.

i just call them what sounds coolest
whats the point of making some naming convention if no one will follow it anyway? you'll still have to say "no i mean with 4 rockets total not just in the air" anyway

sync = more than 1 rockets synced together (this could be double/triple/quad etc)
double = getting launched by 2 synced rockets (this includes the one you shoot while on the ground)
triple = getting launched by 3 synced rockets
quad = getting launched by 4 synced rockets
etc.

For the people that say 2 air rockets and 1 ground rocket is a double etc, what is it when you fire 2 air rockets and don't use a ground rocket? Not something that happens often but seems relevant to the conversation.

Just count the number of total rockets and pick an adjective, not so hard.

Both can work
2 rockets // sync or double
3 rockets // double sync or triple
4 rockets // triple sync or quad
5 rockets // quad sync or quint
ect.
This gets confusing because the most popular term is not consistent. Most players would call 2 rockets a sync, and 5 rockets a quint for example.

Sorry but no this shit is aggressively dumb, nobody who actually jumps says 3 rockets is a double sync or 5 rockets is a quad sync, why on earth would the decision to omit the word 'sync' afterwards change anything???
Obviously when people are new and don't know the terminology they might think things like this but it makes no sense to argue it once you've already heard what the correct terminology is

I've called 3 rockets a double sync for over half a decade, and i'm not the only one.
The reason that omitting the word sync matters is that it already implies using two rockets. A single sync uses two rockets, so a double sync must use three. That makes perfect sense.

the fact that there are people out there calling a triple a "double sync" is very upsetting to me

sync term = total rockets used
whether the rocket was shot on the ground or in the air does not matter
when people say "sync" generally it could be any number, but they usually mean a "double" because those syncs are the most common, and they will usually specify the amount if rockets > 2
ultimately its just a convention and you can say whatever u want, but calling a triple a double will make u sound like a big noober
DwapkingI've called 3 rockets a double sync for over half a decade
that's an L
these threads get made every year and at this point im just nostalgic
