Well iw been playing on this laptop from msi in a year or so. But about a month back, i started getting some tiny fps drops. I didnt think much about it until it started goin nuts.
The strange part is that iw defraged my hardisk serval times without any results.
here is my pc specs MSI GT683DX (not dxr)
CPU: i5-2430m 2.4 x 2 with 4 treads
GPU: GTX 570m 1.5 GB DDR5 ram
RAM: plixir (i think) 6 GB (one 4GB stick + a 2GB stick)
Almost any game i run. like Crysis 3/2/warhead/crysis and bf3 is set at the preset settings or medium besides crysis warhead and the normal crysis.
An other thing is that iw tired to use my vaccum cleaner to suck some dust out of there (i removed the back plate)
I would usualy play a game for 15 minutes and then the fps drops will happen.... (also while idle in-game)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for reading (sorry for bad english)

When I had FPS drops I reinstalled the game by deleting the Team Fortress 2 folder (you should of course make a backup of your needed files).

seeing as how the 500 series chips are very warm i'd assume it's the video card and not the cpu. Try http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

I also play on a laptop (macbook pro)
When I first got this computer, about 2 years ago, it never dipped below 300 fps.
Then, last summer, an update came out and my frames started to drop. I figured it was the update. Every update after that my frames seemed to be even worse.
Then, just yesterday, I opened up my MBP and took a look inside. Guess what I found?
It's hard to see all of the dust that was in there before I cleaned it out, but it was a lot.
My cpu was throttling itself while tf2 was running, because under the load of tf2 it would have to completely throttle itself so that my computer didn't over heat. This was giving me terrible fps. As soon as I put her back together and booted tf2, I went from 40-60 fps back to 200+ with no dips.

Make sure to clean out the old thermal paste...use rubbing alcohol.
Also, for most applications especially laptop coolers, you wont need to cover the entire die with the paste. Remember the paste is only there to fill in the gaps between the die and the heatpipe contacts.

try installing process lasso and then keep it running and when you open a game, set the process to above normal of somethin'. laptops in particular come with a lot of bloatware and unless you have done a full wipe, that could interfere with the games, getting worse over time as the shitty programming that's meant to optimize your system means stuffing the shit out of any game you run. try below normal too, see how the difference goes.

Yeah having more RAM will not get you more FPS. A lot of people nowadays with nice rigs have 16gb ram, but 8 is really fine if you're not doing anything super hardcore with your computer.
