My team just scrimmed edifice and it was really confusing. No one knew what they were holding or pushing.
We decided on defense to hold A because it was more chokey, and push B and send our roamer to force them.
What strats are we supposed to use to hold and push effectively?

Haha we scrimmed you and the feeling was mutual.

apparently the map was designed for iron man holds but it's kinda hard to rotate

the thing about new maps is there are no strats yet, so have fun and come up with your own

In New Map Pugs, on red, we would just send players to both sides, while the pocket, demo, and medic (and heavy if you do that) wait in the connector. Then, we'd defend the side blu pushes into.

yeah, we tried to rotate when their whole team pushed the opposite point, but we ended up just getting there slowly and having both points capped.

the badmins put it in the map pool so we can't just not play it. guess we'll go over it later and try to decide a strategy.

well considering it's just the summer seasons it's not that much of a big deal.
it got added just so it could get some testing in so I could actually make it work for a possible esea season. right now it obviously has flaws, but i'd like it if everyone who plays it at least tries to have fun and give good, constructive, but not slandering feedback. remember, mappers are limited and if feedback isn't prepared in a constructive manner you might end up isolating the only people who can make new things to play on, whether it be 5cp, a/d or koth.
regardless, i hope everyone tries to have fun on it and remember, it's just the summer season so you don't have to take it totally seriously.

I'd like to point out to the people griping about the map. The middle used to have a drop down, and running kritz on that drop down if you capped A&B was the best option, because C was connected to the top. C was almost impossible to cap unless you wiped, and capped with both scouts, and sent the heavy classes to spawn camp.
Iron man on the map is the best option, sentries are weaker on it, unless you can catch them off guard. Roamers who are defending need to find the hiding spots and try to get an early pick on the medic. If you're attacking, sniping is very possible.

I prefer it to G-Pit, and Cevo plays it too.

yeah you're right about it being summer and we should have fun. It's my first season so I'm taking it more seriously than I should.

I'm not sure how many people know this yet but edifice's spawn times are different than gpit. Unlike gpit where you have to cap a point to get faster spawns on blu, on edifice blu automatically has faster spawns and every point you cap makes them even faster still.
What I would do on offense is decide which point to take (flip a coin it shouldn't really matter because they are designed to be equally defendable) and then just pound away at it with your whole team until you get it. Every trade will be in your favor because of your faster spawn times, so over time you should be able to overwhelm the defense with constant pressure. Please whatever you do DO NOT build uber in spawn and suicide players. That strat is bad on gpit and it's even worse on edifice considering the spawn advantage.
The other major difference from gpit is the point cap speed. Because A and B cap so much faster on edifice (~27s for one scout on edifice vs 40s on gpit) it might be viable to try to juke your way around the defense and catch them out of position with a backcap of sorts. Kind of like you would do on standin, in fact it seems edifice A&B actually cap even faster than they do on standin.

I prefer it to G-Pit, and Cevo plays it too.
At the very least it'll be in the preseason over here, and whichever wins the map vote is the one played in the regular season.

Why don't people make an actual good decision and not have either. Trying to replace gpit is like polishing an old turd.
More like replacing it with a new, fresh one. You get the point.

Replace it with what? Another 5CP?
Of course, I have nothing against those, but as the map creator of Edifice I beg to differ on the point that it isn't "new" or "fresh". It shares the same gametype as GPit, yes, but as you can see by this entire thread, it obviously plays pretty different than it. If it did play like it, then why would there be this thread?
I'd just like to know why you keep bashing the map without giving any criticism to what is actually wrong with it. As I said earlier, the map's bound to have problems. You can't just expect a perfect map instantly.
And to add another point, the map isn't even finished yet. There are still many versions until I actually get to a final point. For now, I wanted to get it tested in a semi-serious environment, that's why I wanted it in UGC. If you don't like it, you don't have to play it, just please, as the map creator, useless feedback like yours isn't very helpful at all; try to actually give a reason behind your opinions.
(On a side note, after the testing at UGC and most likely CEVO there will be a new version - be sure to write down and post what you think should be changed! thanks and have fun!)

Thanks for being a good sport, Phi. I'd love for there to be more map makers in the community in general (especially competitive). New maps are always welcome additions, IMO.

I'd like to see more koth. It's not that edifice is a bad map, it's that the game mode is bad. I hate to see attack/defend maps. I think they should be just taken out. It confuses people and I think if it were to come to esea no one would scrim it during the week it's up. Just like gpit.
More of my opinion, but I generally see esea players to not care for the game type enough to actually play it outside of a match.
Maybe I just consider esea being the goal of the map maker?

What is so confusing about attack/defend? It's like the most simple gamemode ever. It is explained by its own name!
