Hello everybody :)
Well as the title said I really need a new mousemat. I currently use the razer scarab(http://www.2dayblog.com/images/2010/december/550x-Razer-Scarab-3.jpg ) but its too small for my sens. I use a Logtitech G400 if that matters.

Did you try to select United kingdom, but then mis-click because of your mousemat?
OT: I think enigma uses g400+puretrack talent.

i recommend going with the pure-trak talent ( i use one ) but i've also heard great things about razer's galiathus mousepads, just make sure you get one of the larger ones. i hear the talent wears out quickly compared to other mats though, so research both.

The puretrak talent is an alright mousepad. But if you're going cloth, don't mess with the razer pads; you'll pay (about?) the same price and get a smaller pad that's cheaply made. You can even throw your talent in a washing machine which is nice if it gets dirty. If you're looking for another hard pad, go with a qpad heaton; they're huge. In fact, it's the largest hard pad that you can buy as far as I know.
tldr; cloth - talent or hard - heaton

Well is there a huge difference between hard and cloth pads in terms of precision, tracking etc.?

Great answer...
g400 is pretty nice on the qck+ or puretrak talent, recommend both! i dont like razer though, their medium pad is the same price as a qck+ but feels a lot cheaper (that's just me though)

My vote also goes for the Puretrak Talent. I've had mine for a couple of years now, just recently tested it's "Machine washable" claim and the thing looks almost new.

I still wanna know if there is a huge difference between hard and cloth pads in terms of precision, tracking etc. and if yes how hard will it be to get used to the cloth one?

laser mice generally track worse on cloth pads, hard pads wear out mouse feet quicker

try taking 5 seconds to actually do some research yourself rather than complaining the answer someone gave you isnt detailed enough.

Well the article basically said that hard mousemats are better(a hard mouse pad will provide greater precision for quick, exact movements). Everyone in this thread was suggesting a cloth mousemat though. I'm confused

I've used hard surface for years, and trying to play at work with a cloth pad is a nightmare. You'll need to replace your mouse twice as fast, though. I generally have to replace my mouse once a year because my feet wear out so fast.

the big goliathus plus (for atleast control) is that the surface doesn't change with wear over time. I was on a puretrak when I had method over to lan, felt his dirty as fuck goliathus glide perfectly and instantly bought one.
a big issue for me also was humidity dampening the pad and making it resistant as fuck on a puretrak.(HUGE negative if you use swamp cooler to cool your house)
basically what kind of feeling you want on the pad itself is pretty subjective, I just want a pad that I dont want to have to replace in order to get the initial feeling or that shit where half the pad is worn and the top rightish area is still new feeling.

Exactly. I used to have a goliathus control a long time ago, and it held up pretty well (better than the speed that lasted 2 weeks). However, if you have a laser mouse, you really should just get a hard pad. Honestly, I prefer hard pads over cloth ones because even when the hard pad goes bald, it's still faster than the cloth one when it's semi-new or even new. Also, if your mouse feet are marginally scratched, you don't notice it so much on a hard pad. However, on a soft pad, the glide/feel of your mouse is affected a lot.

I think the icemat is too small. Loved the consistency though. If you are not particular about stopping precisely maybe it works for you.

Those bald spots heat up while playing longer then 30 min and then your mouse feet start to stick to it as you try to do small movements. So the pad feels different from the start of the sessions then it does an hour in. The problem is laser mice pretty much suck on cloth pads forcing you to use a hard pad.
I've found the Puretrack talent/stealth almost as good as the Goliathus Speed/control but any of these 4 are worth while if you want a pad that feels the same from day to day for a long time.
I know dave_ said he wore through the speed version quickly but I think there must have been some sort of issue with the pad or mouse because I've been using my Goliathus speed with a DA for months and it hasn't even required a cleaning yet.
I have 3 laser mice and about 7 optical ones and it's the same for all of them. The optical work great on any pad while the laser only work well on hard. I have at least 10 mouse pads, half hard, half soft and they also have a common theme. The hard ones are easier to keep clean, but they get bald spots that heat up and stick and they wear out your mouse feet at the same time. Soft pads will collect more dirt but can be cleaned and will not wear out your mouse feet. So it's the same glide for months.

I use that and I think it's awesome. It's super large, super cheap, and I don't really demand more from a mouse pad.

flynn__Thoughts on the Icemat/Steelseries I1/I2?
AMAZING for high sens players.
I love it and the best part is that it will never degrade like maybe a cloth pad would over years of use. And you can wash it with soap and water if it gets dirty.

nataponanyone tried the artisan hayate or the hien?
I'm playing on a hien. Very fast glide and the pad literally sticks to the glass surface. Artisan advertises that you'd feel a heavier glide going up and down, but I don't feel them on hyperglides/puretrack HD's at all. Though I did feel it on the original IME3.0 Feet.
It's got a really odd texture. It is a cloth pad but feels like one of the hard ones with small bumps and stuff.
I've never tried anything aside from a Xtrac Ripper XL.
