We just started a match on what is apparently a pug server. 2 out of 3 of our matches so far this season have been on non-funtional servers set up by ESEA. We pay $50 a person for invite league fee and everyone in this community pays money to play on ESEA. Considering this, how is this acceptable? On average ESEA has been 30 minutes late to getting our servers set up properly. When i told killing before our match time that the server was a pug server he told me to wait. when it didnt fix automatically, he told me to wait. when we started the match on the pug server and then people crashed and we couldnt pause killing told us he couldnt give us an illinois server even though we were on one.
endrant

Dunno if the most recent update caused this or if it's server related, but we just had a huge issue with invis players and recording/stopping didn't fix.
Honestly it was probably the funnest 2 rounds I've ever played, but ya know.

it really shouldn't be a surprise that shit breaks all the time with the amount of automation going on with the ESEA system, so your anger at their assumed apathy towards your problems should really be directed at the approach they take towards their own in-house servers and client.
certainly killing deserves no blame since i doubt there's really little he can do about it

the first 2 rounds of our match tonight were horribly laggy, i couldn't rollout. had to set my interp to .1 to eliminate model skipping
i also average about 40 fps less (130->90) in matches than scrims...presumably the pos client

its not just apathy of killing or admins, its the apathy of the entire organization to provide a service that is actually worth paying for.

It's pretty sad that a couple of days ago I actually said "wow, this server is actually running pretty well"
Pretty sure that is the only time in 3 years I've ever said that about ESEA servers. Usually they run as well as a skial server

Think of it this way mile, you guys got points and stats towards the prizes for PUG play on the ESEA website, even though you only played 2 rounds or whatever.

These problems aren't new and have existed for every season I have played tf2; they may even be getting worse. I don't think anyone doubts the difficulty of running a league; however when you pay fees on top of a monthly subscriptions for a service you expect that some of the money is being used to pay people to keep systems up to date, and running with some sort of efficiency and reliability. How much more money do we need to pay for them to address fundamental flaws in their own product?

Be careful in your matches tonight, just played one, after halftime our scouts were swapped (one from the wrong team on each team). There's no fix apparently so you just have to reconnect and keep playing.

IGL's been hosting 9vs9 matches flawlessly on our own in-house servers. You should give us a try, with 6v6 lined up for June 21st, the matches again will be just as smooth.
