I would personally start by trying to find a used Aeron or Steelcase.

Both are pretty much amazing, and sometimes get way underpriced by people who don't know what they're worth.

You usually get what you pay for with chairs, and you should really try to not skimp if you use your computer any significant amount of time. Going from my Aeron at home to a shitty chair at college I could easily see I was less focused while working and probably worse at videogames.

Another reason to not skimp is the cheapo chairs usually have no lumbar support and cushions that wear and compress easily. I personally prefer mesh over leather, you don't have to deal with compression over time and it breathes easier.

yes, obviously not for everyone. but like I said, you can sometimes find good deals on used versions of high end chairs if you get lucky. Steelcase Leap is another to look out for, which also seemed amazing from the times I've sat in one.

You should probably just go to Staples or OfficeMax and see what you like (again, I would personally recommend trying mesh), staying far far away from the cheap chairs.

and seriously, get good lumbar support.

Funny, I'm doing the exact same thing. I've been looking online for a good, solid chair for a decent price that wnot' utterly fall apart under me. I stumbled on this chair while looking around, found it its actually made for "big and tall", IE fat people and has a weight limit of 350 pounds, so its built pretty solid. It also looks classy and comfy as fuck. Plus it looks like the cheapest one in the thread so far. I'm currently saving up to pick one up for myself.

Do yourself a favor and look for a second hand or refurbished Aeron by Herman Miller. You can replace the mesh seat and backing anytime you want and the chair is like new again. Well worth the extra money.

Go to Staples when they are having a sale and try out everything. I got a super comfy leather chair from there for dirt cheap and it's perfect.

These are what we all use in our office. As expensive as they are, they are worth it. (Mind you, I wouldn't buy it for myself)

They're extremely nice. If you're rich, you won't regret the decision.

Lasted me about 3 or so years. It broke a few years ago just so that it could lean back a lot more than normal. I just leaned back super far to yawn and it snapped in half!

I basically went into Office Depot, and sat down in a couple chairs, and then this one. It felt like the perfect chair. I was able to get it for $80, and it's definitely worth $80.

I have this chair and I like it alot, good for long sessions on the PC.

I had an Aeron and didn't care for it. There's very little actual support with mesh chairs and the Aeron is super wide which, for me, is uncomfortable. I had a Steelcase Leap and it was comfortable, but the leather always felt unpolished even immediately after treatment. Wearing blue jeans meant your jeans would creep upward on you due to body movement because the jeans would absolutely not move at all while in the chair. There are many different types of upholstery for them and others may not have that issue.

Far and away the most comfortable chair I have ever used is what I currently own: the RFM Verte. http://www.ergonomichome.com/veerch2.html

This is my chair, nowhere near as nice as some of the $800 ones, but... It's $90 and it reclines and your back won't get hot. I've never had a problem with comfort on it, and I'm quite a big boy. No adjustable lumbar, but the back is fairly comfy to start, so eh.
