i think there was a thread for this a while back but oh well. Is anyone in the tf.tv community a programmer and if so do you do it for a living or just a hobby? I myself am currently learning java and c++ as a hobby.
I'm a programer and I do it as a job and as a hobby. java is my favorite, but I sometimes cheat on him using python and php.
what I like the most about java is the error handling, no stupid segfaults and no garbage collection bullshit

I sometimes use C++ to do some number crunching for work at university, but I wouldn't call myself a programmer yet. It's all doubles, ints and for loops.
lol idk why java is so popular, atm javascript is doing some amazing shit.
I sorta know HTML, CSS and javascript, I took a beginner's course in Python and I'm pretty competent with that. Also a bit of C++, haven't used it in a while though. All as a hobby.
name anything you'd like to do and don't know how to, it's been done in java and you can find it open source on google
that's why java is so popular
try to learn Pharo, there is nothing out there to help you

Used to program .net, delphi and java as a job. I'm also decent at c++ et C#, and I know some COBOL because I have to work a lot on mainframe these days.
I am a Computer Science student programming/scripting in: VHDL, ASM, C, C++, C#, Java, OPAL, LaTeX, bash, javascript
javascript and svg
know a fair amount of scripting in bash

I graduated with a Computer Science degree and do front end/back end programming for work, and as a hobby.
i know: C, Java, Ruby, CSS, Javascript, PHP, HTML and a bunch of frameworks around those.

For a living I've done Java (both server-side and Android apps), C++, Python, and Objective C (iPhone programming). On side-projects I've also dabbled in frontend, doing HTML, CSS, and Javascript. Definitely can't make a good living out of those yet.
(And yes, while Python will make you hate Java, hunting down memory leaks in C++ will make you respect it, but maybe not love it.)

Java/C/C++ on the one hand and PHP/JavaScript on the other. I've been working more on the right hand side (web dev-ish apps, proper web projects etc.) lately but I'm looking to get back into the left hand side.
Objective-C++ and C++ as a living (music production software).
C++ for games, Python and Django for various scripts + website, Java, Ruby (through Ruby on Rails), Scheme (LISP variant), a little bit of PHP, HTML + CSS + JS.
Did some Computer Science in high school, continued it in college (+ some electrical engineering), still haven't graduated, got a job before it.

FFGMatlab (but its for babies never use it)
this is false, matlab is great for manipulating matrices etc

Learning Python in the hopes that I'll be able to make some modeling tools in Maya that aren't complete ass like the default ones are.
Java and Python for me. I use Java when I want to do something robust, and Python for fun programs where I don't care how my code looks in the end. IMO Java is much nicer and catches my errors, but Python is much more intuitive.
java python here
java only for ap exams fuck you java
java only for ap exams fuck you java
tried to learn java for APCS, got a 4 on the exam and forgot it all a few weeks later
i do programming competitions like topcoder, codechef, codeforces, and the like. java here just cause it was the first thing i learned
