I'm pretty good when i'm drunk. There should be a D-tf2 tournament.

the301stspartanfrknthe301stspartanDepends on who you're comparing him to. To all of invite? Above average. To b4nny (demo on team above his) and a seagull (demo on team below his), he's about average (not as good as b4nny but better than a seagull, imo).frknAverage is relative. Until you reach the top of invite, you're average compared to your competition.I wouldn't exactly call dummy average.
But an average invite player still isn't average. Average means average period.
You could also call b4nny an average b4nny. Doesn't make him less good.
If you choose to only ever compare yourself to everybody as a whole then that's your choice. I prefer to compare myself to who it is relevant to compare to.
I don't consider myself amazing because I can have a kdr of 15+ in pubs.
I don't consider myself shit at soccer because I can't compete with pros or even the kids on varsity at my college.
I wouldn't exactly call dummy average.[/quote]

Flakxyes, but lets face it if you're comparing yourself to a general pub player rather than a competitive player everyone on this forum was probably above average when they first installed the game.
When I first played TF2, I thought I had to battle medic and revive people after being fragged (I was really confused when using my medigun to try that on ragdolls didn't work). After not being able to kill anyone, I was highly convinced it was the hardest class in the game.
So, yes, you're right. I started off above average compared to most pub players.

When I discovered I could use a mouse and a keyboard at the same time I instantly became an above average tf2 player

Tell me your secrets. I'm so bad in pubs.

The fact that I play with shitty hardware and can still aim decently.
Are we calculating the mean, the mode or the median here?
VirulenceI'm pretty much convinced that once you consider yourself better than most, your ego seals your doom and nothing will make you happy any more.
holy fuck. You just sunk my battleship.

When a guy from our national 6v6 team said, "You have improved a lot" after we played mge. It really hit me, but just last summer I was absolute shit, I still am but I have come a long way since then, I kinda hit a plateau earlier this year, but then I got a new pc and have been improving exponentially since then.
The progress has been amazing and I am proud, but I feel I am hitting another plateau atm, need to figure out new ways to improve, whether it is watching demos, going over povs, just thinking more about the game, etc...

When I ascended to the tier of UGC Steel ALL-STAR I had realized that there was no greater achievement. So much so I gave up on playing highlander the next season because I knew it deep down that there is/was no greater achievement.
When the main admin for the pub server you're on tells you that you're one of the best medic's he's ever played with. It was then I decided to try competitive TF2.
When I always called myself a shit demo, even though I could stand up against most demos of my level or a bit higher.
Pharaoh's too good for me though ;-;

I always feel above average when My team is doing really well, or when I'm kicking ass in MGE.
Then I have to remember that I'm shit and that I need to suppress those happy feelings because they're lying to me.

Calling someone who plays TF2 "average" doesn't mean anything without frame of reference. The exact "average" TF2 player is someone with a 1.0 k/d and under 100 hours played, all of it on a public server on 2fort or dustbowl or something. I'd think everyone on this website is far above average when compared to the entire ~60000 people with TF2 open right now.
Everyone is average. There is always a bigger fish, and there is always a littler fish too.

I've been above average for a while now. I' ve come to know this because I'm improving constantly. However I don't think a competitive player should stop improving. Striving to improve my game every time I play and seeing results is incredibly rewarding. My strongest opponent in this game is and always will be myself, so I just keep practicing and playing.
The second you think you're good, you'll stop improving.
