im proud of how much i have improved for all of the work i put into it, just like any athlete would be with their sport
2sy_morphiendA lot of my RL friends ask me to play League of Legends with them but they lack any notion of competition in video games so I more or less avoid it.
Pretty much this for me as well. I never really got into League because if you don't play it with friends or a team then your only option is

I take my shirt off and flex my biceps every time I talk about video games.

no shame at all, honestly its not all about playing the game...but what you actually get out of it that counts. thats why you should take pride in the hobbies you enjoy. but if you keep it to yourself yeah thats pretty sad
already took a trip to boston, and canada twice now. it was great, always meeting chill people at those spots...tf2 is just a bonus in all of it

im such a giant nerd, my presence broadcasts it for me.
im in highschool (11th grade) and all my closest friends know that i play tf2 competitively. They also occasionally play tf2(i got them into it but they really like to play league) occasionally they will bring it up around someone that isnt so close and i talk about how i play the game competitively simply because it is more fun than playing an unorganized/imbalanced public game. I may also bring up how i used to play the game a lot in tournaments and how now i casually play pick up games whenever i'm at home and have nothing better to do.
no i don't brag about it. i think i may have mentioned it to a few friends, but the notion of even trying to explain it just gives me a headache. especially when I mention that it's tf2 and they are like that cartoony game wow r u 4 play cod scrub.
pine_beetleHey Defy what if you're into child porn?
why would you even post that, swing and a miss

I'M OPEN AND I'M PROUD! I am actually proud to be a competitive player. I don't go out and shout it to the world but if someone asks me I will tell.
capnfapnI dont hide it but I don't try to show it off either. In fact, if someone came up to me asked me if I played video games competitively I would gladly tell them all about my mid-open esports career.
the well-esteemed king of mid open himself
i don't really share competitive information past good friends without reason (they actually think it's cool) but id be lying if I said I hadn't flexed my Halo 1 skills to the ladies when I had classes in the computer labs at my old school.

My friends are "gamers" too, so I always tell them how inferior they are x]
Open about it tbh. Don't see any point in hiding it, family knows, most of my friends know, the ones that dont I probably haven't spoken to in like, a year. Used it in my job interview, got the job and kept it for a year now.
When my friends question it and are like, "Why not just play the sims?" I challenge them to mge me.

Not my fault I'm a competitive gamer. I started watching my dad play CoD when I was in that age range in which you follow what your parents do. I ended up playing competitive CoD 1.3 ages 8-11, then L4D ages 11-12, and now TF2 at age 14.
Yeah I'm proud, but I'm not going to brag about my TF2 endeavors because most of my friends are actually social.

I love playing videogames and I'll always be proud of it, it's one of my favourite pastimes and something I enjoy. Couldn't imagine feeling ashamed about it.
I just liken it to sports and list it as a hobby - as long as you take yourself seriously it conveys seriousness and sounds the same as "yeah I play softball"
But then, I'm old, and men my age play softball :/

i dont think anyone i've had classes with in the past year or so doesn't know I play competitive TF2.
today actually some people in english were shocked to hear that i wasn't playing TF2 anymore when the subject came up

Woooooooaaah there. No need for you to throw your friendships in our faces.

Once I was at a pub with some friends and gaming was brought up so I decided to casually mention how many hours I had in TF2.
I immediately regretted it.

All of my friends are former tf2 comp players so we talk about it sometimes.
i have a slight urge to get laid before i die so i don't publicize it..which is disconcerting because a lot of the reason i haven't off'ed myself is because of video games
if i met any of you in real life i would think you were autistic
