So a lot of your guys have been asking of late for more ESEA Main casts for this season. However, a worrying trend among Main teams is their unacceptable team names for casting on TFTV. I'll list the Main examples of team names which are unacceptable for casting on TFTV:
"WE WANT FUCK"
"Masons Baby Back Bitches"
Both of these team names are completely unacceptable for casts and will not be casted until their team names are changed to something more appropriate.
What do we consider to be inappropriate names for TFTV casts? Here are a few examples of what in team names are inappropriate:
- Profanities
- Derogatory terms
- Personal Attacks
Teams whose names which contain the following (along with anything else in our discretion) will not featured on any of our future casts. The reason for this is because of our strive for clean quality material. Our casts do occasionally get put on the featured page, and we don't want to have people who tune in for the first time seeing the great pairing of "WE WANT FUCK vs. Masons Baby Back Bitches", even if it does turn out to be a good match. We here at TFTV do not want to promote inappropriate names and terms in live casts.
This becomes a problem in the Main division, as it shrinks the amount of possible matches to cast from ten down to six due to the fact that Main only has ten teams. We have this rule apply to not only team names, but as well as player aliases. While aliases are easier to get around in some cases, team names are not as it is what we use to advertise casts.
So if you want to be featured in a TFTV cast, or see more casts for a particular division, please consider the team names and aliases that you use in matches, as it could prevent you from getting a good match casted for the use of inappropriate names.

I figured as much with your team, but it was easier to use your team name as an example.

Who decides what is inappropriate? swearing? seriously? Why does the full name of a team really have to be g rated if a simple shorthand name would do for casting?
Call them Mason's Babies and get on with your life.

Nice to see that this scene wants to be taken seriously then immediately defends behavior that would be completely unacceptable in a public, professional sporting environment under any circumstance

this isnt an issue of whos going to call their mommy about the names, its about professionalism and the fact that people dont want to come back and watch again after seeing WE WANT FUCK vs. Masons Baby Back Bitches

Well it's good to see tf.tv going after the baby boomer segment.
All I know is that I haven't met any one in my age group that is offended or turned off by swearing, especially in video games.
Also, seems kind of weird you'd draw that line when every time a cast gets front paged the casters thank Twitch John and mention his twitter is John's Fat Cock.
Fat cock is good but Bitches is over the line.
I'll never understand you Americans and your swearing.

You don't have to be a "baby boomer" to appreciate maturity. No one is gonna be offended necessarily but it reflects badly on the scene as a whole.

This seems dumb and unnecessary especially for a game as small as TF2. But hey if it makes people feel good surely that means that sponsors and viewers will fall from the sky.

I don't think any one cares enough to take notice of a team name with profanity in it as long as the casters aren't giggling like 12 year olds every time they read it.
Read the name on the intro, introduce a shortened version of the name (casters do this anyway as reading the full name during a play by play is difficult) and then move on.

I intentionally stepped out of commenting on this thread, but your comment really indicates that you don't truly understand why we're doing this and how it's beneficial.
Even though TF2 is a small in the competitive community, it's not a stretch to say that a cast can very easily be seen by pub players, HL-exclusive players, new 6s players, veteran ex-players, and, believe it or not, people who watch other eSports. Having nice/funny/etc. names is a foot in the door to not immediately turning them away. And this falls in line with the fact that we're on Twitch more than anything else, and we should've done this from the start (it wasn't really a big deal until a team named themselves "WE WANT FUCK" haha). Believe me when I say the staff is in as many of the jokes as the rest of the TFTV community is, but as a casting group, we are some of the immediate people that are looked at from the outside. When I talk with sponsors, other eSports players/enthusiasts (yes, this is a thing I do for TFTV), it helps SO MUCH to have professional/clever/etc. names. To take Fog's excellent example: WE WANT FUCK vs. Mason's Baby Back Bitches (nice, pot) or Classic Mixup vs. Apocalypse Gaming? What even SOUNDS like the better game from those names?
So, I'm gonna end my half rant half POV post here. It's not like you're unable to use a funny name. You can. Just don't expect to be casted, is all. It might be the butt of all eSports jokes from ourselves, but TF2 can and has ALREADY been looked at professionally (I've been in some of that). Maintaining professionalism will go long strides towards establishing trust and opening up conversations.

Don't worry, in five years every team in Invite and Main is going to have a sponsor and this will be no concern at all...

Don't forget that this is your opinion, but not necessarily the majority opinion or the official stance. There's already a lot of people in favor in this thread.
Personally, I can understand why a caster would want to giggle like a 12-year old at those names - quite honestly, WE WANT FUCK sounds like something a 12-year-old would come up with to sound more mature (even though it makes him sound exactly his age, as we all know). A little maturity goes a long way for making a good impression. The fact that it is/was in the penultimate level of competition is the most cringeworthy part about it - you'd expect the highest levels of any activity to take their positions seriously. I'm not saying it'll make sponsors magically appear and double the scene overnight, but it's certainly more attractive than a division full of teamnames like Assmasters420 or stupidity like that.

Just to show profesionalism in the community, sure it may not actually be there but we can atleast play it off like so.
