or detting your stickies asap without having to perfectly time it. though it wouldn't make a noticeable difference, it feels nicer to not have to think about it.

If you have fired a sticky at a close range target you have to det it as soon as possible for max damage but if you hit it too early before it is primed to det by the time you can det it again it will have passed them meaning less damage done, this way dets as soon as possible

This has been around for as long as I can remember. Uses the same mechanic as holding down M2 when you're building uber, so it pops as soon as you hit 100%.
actually now that I think about it, pretty sure every right click thing works like that

am I the only one who's disappointed that this wasn't about the scottish resistance bug resurfacing where you could shoot while the sticky was still leaving the barrel

that's not how sticky damage works
if you a det a sticky that's right next to you it will do max damage (~125) preprime and ~100 postprime. stickies have falloff damage until they are primed (when glow fades; aprox 2.5 seconds). so you don't have to det as soon as possible to do max damage.

He means that if you're trying to det as soon as possible, then if you accidentally click before you CAN det there's a delay before you can try again. I'm not sure of the accuracy of this because demo is too hard for me.

Heh, just when I thought this class couldn't get easier.

I never thought I'd say it, but... hold on to your butts...
PT is correct.
For a very long time, you could m1 and then instantly hold m2 and the sticky would detonate once it was ready, but it wasn't instant once it was ready. Holding m2 on demo would play the detonation tone every half second or so and if you tried to detonate too early, you'd have to wait for it to get to the next detonation tone before the sticky would detonate. Holding m2 would also prevent you from firing another sticky. It was NOT like holding m2 to uber instantly when reaching 100%.
I can see this new mechanic being useful for new players against scouts that are in your face, but honestly, if you've played demo for longer than a few hours, you should instinctively have the timing down and this will be more of a crux than a benefit.

No. I was doing too many things at once and crutch became crux. At least bloodsire didn't catch it first.

They also updated the Rocket Launcher. If you hold right click for 2.5 seconds, a "ground-locator" is activated and the entire floor of a map is highlighted in a transparent yellow. VERY useful...

so if you're playing with a demo who has voice activation on mumble you won't constantly hear *click* *click* *click* *click* *click* *click* *click* *click*

i thought you were saying something about how crux and benefit play, but I wasn't sure if benefit mained demo.
