PlatinumFigure out a good day every month, literally everyone who frequents tftv... Change your name to Teamfortress.tv or competitive tf2 and go shit stomp pubs all over. Word of mouth would travel through the pub communities (either pos or neg, who cares) and start putting it out there to the casual playerbase

the badwater pubs await 8)

well make it the 8th 8)th of every month because 8)

assuming phrakture is going to lan, dont let known cheaters play in invite and go to lan. any game that doesnt take cheating serious will never be big.

In this day in age, a lot of people like mobas, right? So, what if we turn tf2 into a moba.

/sarcasm

I think the tf2 community at this point can only grow. With each month we get some new, well-produced event so I just think it's a time thing.

Good news chaps

I won $30 Million on the lottery last night, exactly one year from now I will host my very own LAN event, of which I will invite the very best teams of every continent alongside some qualifiers, the prize pool will be $1.5m For this event. Between now and then, I will donate a 100k Prize pool to every major league in TF2 for every season they run, I will also fund multiple teams over to i52 and of course donate to the prize pool.

You have 12 months to prepare and get good at this game, old legends can come out of retirement whilst great fps players can change their game to this cartoon shooter in hope to win some cash money prizes. Just to keep garnering interest I will also put up a prize pool for lower leagues as well. This event ought to put me at a massive loss but TF2 will be considered an eSport and a lot more interest, competition and awareness will be garnered.

Oh fuck, I lost my Lottery ticket....oh well.

skeejAll of these arguments have been put forth 10000s of times already.

Even if you manage to shrink the gap between pub and comp play, TF2 is still too complex to spectate.

It works OK for experienced players, because they use their own frame of reference to figure out what the hell is going on when watching a stream, but for people who are barely experienced with TF2 or are pub regulars, it's really hard to appreciate the game other than "wow that was a nice headshot, woooh double airshot, etc". Inexperienced spectators can only appreciate individual frags, which, when taken out of context, can't be differentiated from any big pub play moment. Comp play becomes entirely meaningless and hard to "care" about by non comp or non high-level players, which is what you want to build an audience.

lol wow. Too complex? The game is free bro. All someone has to do is download it. Then play some pubs for a couple weeks understand the 9 classes in pubs or just practice the 6 classes in pubs. not that hard, i play tf2center only after 50 hours of tf2.

and now you have 51 hours in game, does that mean you have great comprehension of the game mechanics? probably not.

So what you are saying is that tf2center is even more kindergarten than tf2lobby?

someone should make a series of youtube videos that are SUPER SHORT but describe all the intricacies of tf2. no one wants to sit there and watch a 45 min video to try and learn to play a game, but videos that are 2-3 minutes in length but very very detailed and well organized/planned out would be much easier to deal with.

for example: running a back cap strat when at disadvantage. boot up STV of this happening, watch the short clip twice. once showing what the back capping players did for about 10 sec before committing to it until the back cap completes, then again showing the combo in the same fashion. all the while explaining how they were at an uber disadvantage so this was their play to gain the upper hand on the other teams push.

boom, backcap 101 done in under 5 min.

not directly related to the main topic, but it would be really nice while spectating either in first person or in third, to see how much damage the person you are spectating is doing

idk if a plugin could even do that, its a thing that is only shown in POVs

I have 5k+ hours, I'm still shit at anything other than demo.

Point being, you really need to make an effort to understand the game if you want to understand the game. I just play demo. :x

Does it matter if someone like me does or not? tf2 is free. anyone from pub or someone who watched a shit ton of comp 6's on youtube like myself can easily go on tf2 center or tf2 lobby. You guys want more people. The game is free. TF2center and tf2lobby do not require any sort of pay. Im here, im new. Yes i do have only 50 some hours in. Who gives a shit, people got to start somewhere. I may not be very good. However I do have a good understanding of the class roles, how they work, and how to use them in certain situations. I understand 6's and highlander.

Why not just let the scene grow? Like improve the game and give it exposure. It has been growing thus far let's just continue what we're doing by hosting events, having lans, sal plugging tf.tv through donations on girl gamer streams, etc.
