diamondback wrecks in pubs, i feel it would be a bit more balanced if it didn't store multiple crits at once, rather getting one for each streak. running around with 6 crit shots makes you feel pretty invincible though...
does anyone remember the other large balancing update where they tweaked the sandvich, gru, crossbow etc and it was pretty good? this reminds me of that except all the weapon changes are abysmal
i try to enjoy the pub side of this game but it seems to get more difficult every update

eeeThe difference is the diamond back isn't a new strategy. It's literally getting a reward for what you were going to do anyway. If scout got a weapon that made him insta kill after getting a meatshot, it wouldn't change scout strategy, it'd just be a scout doing his job and getting a buff for doing what he was already going to do. There's better ways to buff spy, giving him a babymode ambassador isn't one.
l'etranger
#1 at getting stabs (more cloak)
#3 at killing things with a stab (can't 3shot meds)
#3 at killing things without a stab (can't 3shot meds)
The l'etranger is still the best at getting stab kills. Stab kills are the most important part of 6s Spy, a gun is a backup plan. Having a shitty gun doesn't matter that much if you just hit your stabs.
diamondback
#2 at getting stabs (no extra cloak)
#1 at killing things after a stab (1 crit + 1 regular 2shots meds and scouts)
#3 at killing things without a stab (can't 3shot meds)
The Diamondback doesn't have extra cloak, so you should probably only use it on small maps/points or maps with lots of ammo, where you don't need the extra cloak to get behind. It's best for players confident in their stabbing because it's easier to turn single kills into doubles, but if you don't land a stab, you can't 3shot the medic or 2shot after a butterknife, and that really sucks.
revolver
#2 at getting stabs (no extra cloak)
#2 at killing things after a stab (3shots meds at cqc comfortably, knife + 2 bodyshots kills too)
#1 at killing things without a stab (3shots meds at cqc comfortably, knife + 2 bodyshots kills too)
The stock revolver is basically a different style of Diamondback. If you miss a stab, you can still 3shot the medic easily factoring in falloff and regen, and 2shot him after a butterknife. You lose the ability to stab the pocket or whatever and 2shot the Medic though.
ambassador
#2 at getting stabs (no extra cloak)
#2 at killing things after a stab (1 crit + 1 regular 2shots meds and scouts, no setup required)
#2 at killing things without a stab (1 crit + 1 regular 2shots meds and scouts, no setup required)
The Ambassador can 2shot Medics at point blank without a stab. It can also 2shot Scouts at close range without needing a stab and kill Demos and Soldiers in two headshots from long range. However, it's also really hard. 6s Spy is about getting stabs first and foremost, and then dying ASAP so you can switch to your main. So the range of the Ambassador usually doesn't apply.
basically l'etranger is for stabbing, diamondback is for 2ks with people good at stabbing, revolver is for guaranteed med kills for people bad at stabbing, and ambassador is for people good with the ambassador
i wrote this basically to say that the diamondback is on par with the other guns except the l'etranger, which is still leagues ahead

man, they really want people to stop using the Buff Banner.
A bunch of pub servers already have a mod to make the short circuit use 18 metal per shot instead of 5, which makes it run out of metal pretty near instantly

If anyone wants to sell their unwanted naughty crates I'll buy them for 2 scrap each. Go ahead and add me if we got a deal.
Edit: Never mind about the crates :D
Happy Smissmass to one and all... or is it merry smissmass?

Am I the only one who strongly dislikes this update?
Honestly this is the worst update I can recall.
Short circuit update makes it the dumbest thing since minis. You literally can w+m1 a soldier or demo and they just die and can't do anything.
Crit-a-cola needed a nerf, not a buff.
Banner updates are either irrelevant or gravy.
Soda popper is interesting.
Diamondback seems on par with other revolvers now.
Worst of all, nothing new was added for christmas.
GG Valve.

We still have the End of The Line Update coming, perhaps they're just making some final adjustments for it...
I think the short circuit is like the demo shields. It's super gay but better than the other stuff he could be using.
Let's take the classes with the lowest skill ceilings and lower them more.

is this a major complaint about the update? i kinda feel like tf2 has every weapon idea pretty much covered... the first good unlocks (gunboats, kritz, eyelander, huntsman, etc) are already made—the "low hanging fruit." Every weapon update since then has either added really weird shit, really overpowered weps, or useless weps, with maybe 1 out of 20 weapons being viableand balanced. Id rather they focus balancing the existing weapons and optimizing the game.

This too.
The problem is that they unbalanced a bunch of weapons and didn't balance anything.

But they're changing things, and that's a huge step up from where we were before. Maybe their balancing philosophy involved a blindfold and a dart board but at least something is happening.

i used the conch for 3 entire scrims as roamer
jumping less and playing a bit more passive makes it very very very good.
its a great side grade to the gunboats imo

For future reference, the atomizer does not stack with the soda popper's active ability.
i just played a pub for 5 minutes than had engineers who just walked at me and held M1 looking forward at me.
the engineer is a second pyro if the pyros flames destroyed projectiles

so really, the choice is between a class that does damage and doesnt get hit
or a class that does damage and reflects your attacks back at you for 35% more damage
hmmmmm...

while i got rly into engy and short circuit prior to this buff, they are moving in the wrong direction. they should have made the weapon switch speed higher so you could weapon-heckle (just like a similar low skill class we know!) and initiate a healthy mix of short circuit and repairing. needs a way to be used with conjunction with other weapons, not more powerful when its out imo.
what does "players and buildings are only targeted if in range and in front of attacking player" mean?

When destroying projectiles, you don't need to aim exactly at the projectile, just close to it. To hit a player or building, though, it needs to be on the player/building. Old Short Circuit did not have this, and instead had an AoE type of move.
After using it, it seems so wrong to use it. I liked it before and thought it only needed a metal reduction and maybe a very tiny amount of speed increase, but it's pretty silly now. Hopefully they nerf it before next season, as I fear it'll be banned if it isn't.

Do these items remain unbanned in esea? (conch)?

The Short Circuit is the cause of the leading cause of suicide within the TF2 community.

i'm pretty sure changing the short circuit was valve's way of lessening the impact of soldiers and demos on spammy pubs, without nerfing said classes. it's not really right to say it lowers the engie's skill ceiling; haphazardly spamming pills and getting cheap kills and using the sc are about on the same level. neither act may be "skillful" but they're skills in the game. i loved the short circuit before but now i think one has to make a serious decision between it and the wrangler. you still get fucked by focus fire, bullets, bison, and flames, (and even melee) and the range isn't that great for hitting people. it doesn't feel as clumsy as before (though it saw use), just really fun. this and the no-afterburn targe are strong signs that valve wants demoknight used more (for better or worse).
i always loved the banners, and now they're more defined in their roles and have those sweet passive bonuses to make them even more attractive. the liberty launcher and the concheror are a gruesome twosome. like a roamer that returns to the nest with a fresh batch of heals on-hit
sodie popper and diamondback are cool too

who cares about the short circuit, you can get from the floor of turbine to the bats with the new soda popper
you might be able to do gray bridge to spire with the winger

That (and other similar massive jumps) seems like a one-time gimmick to me. It's much more balanced with the mini-crits removed.
