You guys should seriously know better than to disagree with the LAN winners on TFTV this soon after LAN. Everyone has already assumed their places in the circle, they're just awaiting the lotion bottle to be passed down the line (it's taking a while 'cuz everyone's hands are all slippery and they keep dropping it).
Maybe if the louder team lost, we'd be having a different discussion.

I think the shit talking aspect actually makes the competition more real, fun, and fierce. True rivalries. It happens all the time in real sports. Richard Sherman anyone? I don't understand why people get so butt hurt and take things so personally. It's a competitive video game. People talking shit aren't always bad people they're just pumped up and in the zone. From my perspective and my own personal opinion I think it's pretty funny and harmless for the most part. Especially to see how worked up some people get from something so insignificant.

"Saying words" and creating an environment which may lead to violence or offensive contact to another is assault.

Alright, real talk. There's two different kinds of shit talking. There's the 13 year olds screeching "I FUCKED YOUR MOM, FAGGOTS!" that we typically like to make fun of call of duty players on xbox live for and then there's the funnier variety where you actually have a higher level of self control than your average middle school child and act accordingly.

Lucky_PierreMonkeySuitIn the future, don't say the N word at LANs in front of potential sponsors while you're representing the community.
Easy as that.
How about just don't use the N word or homophobic slurs in your life ever...
Shit talking is fine (awesome in fact), but be better than being a racist bigot when doing it...
How about you join a convent...
These people aren't actually (rationally or intellectually) racist bigots, they just make mistakes. As long as they acknowledge that they were mistakes, apologise for them, and attempt to not make the mistakes again (and you don't know how often they might have used to use such language) you shouldn't get worked up about it.

The fact people resort to trash talking for strategy is a bit sad . I understand for the money it's worth it but I can't really view harbleu with any respect he's looking that pathetic. Not offended but it's not very good for tf2 image , and saying "just deal with it" or "get over it" is not the best way to really handle it lol.
Anyway, can't we separate the rooms for LAN ? Unless we want trash talking to be an actual strategy .

if you think iT didnt trash talk too youre beyond retarded m8
and i didnt say shit until after lansky stood behind me when we were playing against LiT talking about who hes giving the trophy to this season
You're missing the point , I used harbleu as an example because a video of mainly him was posted when he was trash talking .
Regardless of who said what , in general it should be gone , seperate rooms , easy ?

Trash talk happens in all games, including athletic sports. Do you want baseball teams to play in different rooms?
It isn't an either/or situation.

except for the cost of that. they use a hotel conference hall for the LAN so seperate rooms would be very expensive to either set up or rent.

That's a terrible example , don't compare a physical sport to an esport in this regard because you're playing on a computer , you can move computers to avoid this issue . It's feasible that's the difference .

People are always talking about this image of tf2 but they always overlook things like this . I don't think anyone actually playing the lan was offended by the trash talk , possibly effected their play ( which shouldn't be made into a strategy .) but anyway what about the people watching ? If we have a choice to keep this on or off do we really want this to continue ?

your arguing is pointless if you're not going to make a point, regardless of what side your on

do you honestly thing people saw the schedule, with TF2 being one of the longest running events of the day on day 3 of a 3 day weekend and said "hey, i have never seen tf2 before, let me go watch and maybe i will start playing"
if shit talking mattered when it comes to growing the community, the CoD and CS communities would be in negative numbers.

That dosnt make trash talking okay just because it won't suddenly make tf2 into some sort of super popular thing . The logic shouldint be that because other esport games are doing it that it's totally fine , that's a broken view.
It shouldn't be a strategy , and it dosnt look good on tf2 or the people when it's being done.

What do you mean it shouldn't be a strategy? It's a competition. This happens in literally every kind of competition there is! This isn't about giving each other rub and tug or how "it's not about if you win or lose as long as you had fun" If you want that go play highlander and get a free badge.

It doesn't happen in every kind of competition. It's absolutely frowned upon in countless of sports.
