idk kamo ive never even seen u in a game so i dont know why im bothering to reply but its pretty lame to finally get a group of guys you really enjoy playing with who are all pretty much playing the best tf2 of their lives (feel free to substitute rentahomies or street hoops if ur not a fan) and then watch the entire lower player base decide that they feel alienated by the league which has
(a) done more for tf2 than any other league and
(b) given high level players an even playing field
because it doesnt directly cater to lower level players who think that weapons like the conch belong in this game
and to reply to the 2nd part of the problem im pretty sure that a competitive person not playing in an inferior league because there wont be as high of competition/reward doesnt really make me any more of a problem but idk dude
oh what do u know a quick google search reveals kamo is a pubber whos barely played anything competitive in his life so im sure he has a viable and accurate idea of how we should move forwards

TuggerWould it be even remotely possible to keep the higher brackets alive without open? This season, at least, deserves to be played out.
i don't think esea loves tf2 that much. i mean it would be amazing but sadly not having the majority of their money (open) means that lan costs are just not worth it.

Using the word career was wrong of me. I see this whole situation objectively, because I've always loved/followed/played TF since 1999. I know I get no respect here because I'm not "known" and understand that it's disappointing, but if there weren't any other options out there then it'd be a sign of the "end" I don't understand the defeatist attitude that so many have. The first step towards major change in any area of life is the hardest, I just gave up everything and everyone I knew for 28 years, put all my stuff in storage and moved 3,000 miles to a place I had never been. I'm now happier than I've ever been. There is still hope…that's just my opinion and I choose to share it because I'm an optimist.

yeah lets all crawl back to the same league that robbed us, and has generally provided a shitty out of date service to a league that is actually trying its hardest with the help of known community members to make this game a legitimate e-sport. nah no thanks i'd rather throw all my chips into cevo than try and get esea to act like its a half way decent outlet for tf2 competitive gameplay.

The bitcoin mining incident had no impact on esea's tf2 service
If you have a problem with their practices, that's a fair personal decision but lets not pretend like the bitcoin thing had any effect on the tf2 community because it didn't.

mshoutout to all the career low/mid players who realized they were never going to make it to esea lan so they did everything in their power to make it sure there wasnt an esea lan to get to
yeah im still mad
most of these "low/mids" are also the people who sent mixup/iT to europe twice to play in a LAN to keep the game alive

Like I said, I have no problem with your decision to leave esea because of bad business practices, but the honest truth is that the bitcoin mining did not have an impact on people who play tf2 on esea.

mthe entire lower player base decide that they feel alienated by the league which has
(a) done more for tf2 than any other league and
(b) given high level players an even playing field
I'm not sure how fair these arguments are when it comes to defending ESEA.. I mean yes of course ESEA did a ton for TF2 than any other league, but that's mostly by default.. they have been the only successful paid league with any longevity, and have been here 16 seasons. There hasn't been a successful league around to compete with them for most of the past few years. They're the only ones.
And yeah, it has brought in the players and given high level players an even playing field.. but I think that's sort of by default as well. The only big LAN event with big money will obviously draw top players to compete for it. ESEA has had no competition in that category. It's just them.
I think ESEA got lucky that they managed to go this long without some big negative event - 16 seasons is pretty convincing. We are seeing now again how quickly people can jump ship and majority can rule (like back when CEVO was much more popular)
I think the problem we're actually seeing shape up may be a situation where half (or whatever percentage) of the teams stayed in ESEA, and half left for CEVO, and so now both leagues have way too few teams. ESEA too few people to stay profitable/keep TF2, and CEVO.. is still obviously figuring out how this will go. I guess we'll see.

Mangachuno tf2 player has reported their hardware being effected by the bitcoin mining incident
one of my 480GTX's burned out on me around the time of the mining thing. granted, nvidia replaced it for me for free, and nobody knew about the bitcoin thing at the time, but ever since it came to light i really do think that was the cause.

defy I'm confused, are you suggesting that ESEA did not use their users' hardware to mine for bitcoins while CHARGING those users for the privilege? And are you suggesting that the court documents where ESEA admitted to being able to access your computer's files were falsified?
You see shit like this is why ESEA open has ~15 teams in it the day before the deadline, people have legitimate, serious concerns about the consequences of installing ESEA software but ESEA just laughs it off and doesn't take any of it seriously. Meanwhile people like you adopt this idea of "just pretend they did nothing wrong and belittle people pointing it out". You can see why that turns others off of the idea of financially supporting ESEA, right?

Unless they want to fork up like half a million dollars I'm pretty sure there won't be a repeat of the bitcoin fiasco. A lot of people keep bringing up the problem of s15 being delayed a month or the fact that the client didn't work for the first week, but that seems to be the only real major complaint, and it's of a problem that didn't occur for the rest of the season. IIRC ESEA's new client team seemed to be pretty quick on updating the client for games in the latter half of the season. They've improved a lot for this season and we're throwing it all away for an unproven league. I'm not saying don't play CEVO, but don't just toss away ESEA either. It's silly to give up something that already exists and provides...
