No. There will be CEVO tournament computers provided.

This is exciting, since a large portion of the teams players will be attending anyways.

Have they talked about what the prize money will be like? ESEA players struggled for a long time with 4th place not making enough money back, I can imagine it will be a problem again here?

Would the provided computers be only for the CEVO tournament or would they be for whatever Saturday events GXL has in store?

The CEVO prizepot is, if I'm not mistake, tied entirely to how many people are signed up. All the registration money goes into the prizepot, so with enough people, you can surpass the ESEA prize money.

If it works like last season (and there's no indication otherwise), it should only increase through donations to the prize pool through "community crowdfunding" similar to last season. That being said, the number above does not include the $4,000+ prize pool for the separate GXL TF2 Invitational happening on the same weekend, which brings the LAN to a combined $10,000+ for TF2. In all, pretty hefty.

The TF2 audience better be the loudest. I think Mana is going so we're already halfway there.

It also doesn't include the 24 BYOC seats at theGXL that we're going to pay for in CEVO-P. We're building as fast as we can, and as you mentioned previously, our prize pools are tied to how many players registered in the previous CEVO Season + community crowdfunding in the current season.

We're doing our best to build a sustainable league that has the ability to grow. I'm hoping that we'll be able to grow the prize pools and have an awesome LAN event again in s6, s7, and beyond.

I don't think they'll know for sure until the turnout of season 5. Hopefully it's planned to keep it going, but it'll be smarter to see how it goes the first time.

What kind of player base / league structure would be needed to sustain this? If we can talk in numbers of what might be a legit possibility, you might see quite a bit more support, especially with this new announcement. I doubt there will be a lan venue that coincides with any season after the GXL lan, so it would most likely need to be standalone.

there is a pretty huge difference in overhead between renting out 25ish computers at an independently-run lan and hosting your own venue but i am eager to hear cevo's plan

who is providing the computers for the CEVO portion of the LAN? CEVO? or BYOC?
