Casting TF2

I know I'm not well known in these parts, but allow me to introduce myself. My name is Anthony "gecks" Miserendino, and I have been casting E-Sports for around 5 years now. I was one of those fortunate enough to get an abnormally deep voice at a young age, and love using it. My reason for posting here is because I would like to become a caster for TeamFortressTV. Here are some of the higher profile events I have casted (links to videos at the bottom):

- Former caster for CEVO CS:GO (2013)
- WCG USA 2012 LAN Finals for Crossfire (attended LAN and casted along side of Corey Dunn)
- WCG USA 2013 LAN Finals for Crossfire (attended LAN and casted along side of Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez)
- Casted for Team USA DoD:S (in 2011?) during their run in Nations Cup
- Various other events, WCG USA Online Qualifiers, CFS NA Qualifiers for CrossFire, etc.
Note: My time at CEVO ended only because I was casting CS:GO, a game which I really didn't have a passion for.

I have come here to try and get into the TF2 casting scene, as I'm not sure where else to go. This upcoming UGC season I will be playing silver 6s as medic, being my main class (Though I'm more of a gold level med). Now I'm fully aware that I'm not quite as experienced as far as the level I've played at as some of the casters in the community, but hear me out.

I've been somewhat bothered at times watching casts within this community. I feel as though some of the casters just aren't as enthusiastic about the game as they could be. I am certainly more of a play by play caster, being able to follow the action quickly and bring the exciting moments to you, providing a cast and experience that you'll remember. I've seen some amazing moments happen on casts, only to have those moments somewhat soiled by unexcited casters. I think most good casts will contain a good play by play caster that brings the exciting moments, coupled by a color caster to do the analysis.

I have a passion for the game of TF2, and a passion for casting. So much so that I want to turn my casting into a career in sports broadcasting, which is how I'm spending my time at college (yes I'm well aware of the difficulty of getting into this field). I'd love to become a caster for Team Fortress TV, and bring my excitement and enthusiasm to every single cast, and create a memorable experience for the viewers. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I think it's great to have another play by play caster in the scene. Since the djc / cbear combo has broken up so to speak, I think we need a play by play caster for these games. I agree with you that of the casters now some lack enthusiasm which really helps a cast be more enjoyable.

if you watch any of his videos of him previously casting you can see he gets excited when something excited happens, and I would imagine he can only improve from here. I've also tried out for gecks team, and from the conversations I've had with him he understands the game on a very good level. A new, more excited caster, is needed in the community in my opinion, and I feel like gecks has a shot at bringing some good casts to the tf2 scene.

He's more interested in keeping the commentary interesting than making sure to point out EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL of what's happening and/or being totally politically correct about every single thing he says. You could say he actually enjoys playing the game (shocking). He was my Med for a season in HL and his German love was much appreciated.

Also he has a decent kick serve.

Gecks is probably one of the best casters I've ever heard. I've watched a couple of his Crossfire casts live. Now I don't play Crossfire, but Gecks some how manages to get my interest in a game I know nothing about just by the enthusiasm he puts into his casting. I know i'm not the only one that thinks that seeing how twitch chat blows up when he's casting in the Crossfire community. I've known gecks for a good portion of this year and in that time I've been able to tell how much he cares about this game. He's a great dude and I really feel he'd be a great addition to the TF2 casting community.

What's different about TF2 compared to CS:GO that would make up for your lack of passion for CS?

Not trying to challenge you at all; just curious.

Edit: I should read the whole post before responding.

And thats okay, fair question. I wasn't really much of a CS:GO player. Only have about 100 hours on the game, just don't really have a passion for it. I thought I'd like it because I was a competitive CS:S player. I was supposed to write articles on players and teams I really didn't know much about, as well as having to cast them. Just made it much less enjoyable. Whereas TF2 is the game I play, and have a passion for.

dashnerI see you live in PA.

If you end up enjoying casting competitive TF2 and are interested in attending a TF2 LAN in October consider this:

http://teamfortress.tv/thread/17547/gxl-lan-fall-2014

Speaking as a part of the production team, I'd love to let you cast a game or two if you've gotten into it by then.

Oddly enough, I actually go to college about 30 minutes away from the LAN. I was planning on attending, if nothing else just to hang out with some of the guys from the community. If I could get in on a cast or two that'd be fantastic.

Gecks is a great guy who's super passionate about what he does who happens to have a perfect voice for casting. Super exciting stuff to listen to. Get him in there.

Just as an update, we'll be getting gecks in some casts very soon, you can bet that TFTV is excited to have him cast. There are some really exciting matchups this week so we'll have those events up soon.

Invite schedulers, add me back.

Shade.

Thanks again everyone. Can't wait to start casting some games.

RJI'm excited to see you cast some TF2! Was hoping to see more of you after catching the WCG Casts a long while ago.

I'm surprised you've seen some of those WCG casts, most people outside of that community haven't. But thanks!
