What do you guys do to clean your hardware? I use a damp cloth and wipe my mouse and individual keyboard keys every month or so.

A really cool trick I learned is sliding a post-it note between the rows of your keyboard. The sticky surface picks up dirt, dust, hair, crumbs, whatever. It's disgusting how much stuff it'll pick up!

For internal stuff, I usually use compressed air to blow dust out and then I try and grab most of the dust with a low power shop vac or dustbuster-type thing.

For peripherals, wet paper towel followed by Clorox wipers.

is it one of those ESD-safe vacs? If so how much are they usually?

I just pry them off with a knife/car keys/whatever I have lying around. just be careful with the large keys that have stabilizer bars.

keycap puller isn't a bad idea but its not really necessary to be honest. I have one that I never use cause I'm too lazy to go find actual tools.

its not a big deal lol =)

You can make a ghetto keycap puller with two clips and some tape. Just bend the clips into the right shape and glue them together.

ESD Vacs range from 100 to 500 dollars depending on what kit with what accessories you get. Honestly, because they are so expensive, you'd probably be better off just buying compressed air. The only way the investment would be worth it is you go through alot of compressed air.
