Will http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00JIJUBAS/?tag=pcp0f-20 perform well in tf2?

i have the FX-8350, its very mediocre for TF2, dip below 120 on midfights and pubs and HL are a lost cause

its godlike for rendering videos though, and i dont have problems running anything besides tf2
good for a budget PC that can still run new games, but bad for TF2 (this makes me upset)

I dunno, I have an 8350 and don't ever feel myself dipping below 120, generally stays over 200.
This is in 6s at least. I never pub or HL.

The FX-8350 is actually better than an i5 for streaming. Not sure about an i7 that has hyperthreading enabled, but I'm guessing it would beat an i7 that doesn't have hyperthreading enabled.
Also as newer games come out they're likely going to be optimized for more threads/cores, which means that an i5 probably won't cut it in a few years. This doesn't mean you should run out and get an 8-thread/core CPU right now, an i5 will be just fine until you would normally replace it anyway.

Currently thinking about getting an FX-6350, would that be enough to get me passable fps?

Both of those things are what I had planned on upgrading to. Now I don't know what to think. Do you run on high settings or an older config?
if youve got an updated question, you should probably post it in a comment on your thread, instead of changing the op.

i guess to be fair im still running chris' old configs, but even so

I think single core performance is what matters most in tf2, and you'll get that with an intel cpu. I have a 4770k that I overclocked, and a gtx 770 and I have never seen my frames drop below 144 (I have vsync on)
I think most people get by with an i5 just fine.

While the processor itself is pretty damn fuckin good, TF2 hates the FX-8350 so much you barely even notice a performance drop whatsoever when you stream the game in 720p with it. Having lots of cores wont matter in tf2 unless you do lots of other stuff in the background too.
If you mainly play tf2 though you will want an intel processor for sure.

I have a 9370 and I get constant 240 in everything I do except for pubs which is ~120.
I have an fx-6350 and I never really dip below 80 and usually maintain a steady 120 for. It's good performance (from my experience) but you'll probably want to go with Intel if you can.
