Blizzcon is going on atm and they just released footage of Overwatch, their new FPS which emphasizes on team play. Looked almost identical to Team Fortress 2 in a LOT of aspects. I'm excited for it, it looks pretty sick.
Looks closer to Brink or Dirty Bomb imo. Still interesting though, looking forward to an open beta.

honestly from what I've seen so far and from what it looks like classes do that this game is going to be extremely stalematey
Their's 1 Sniper, 2 or 3 engineer classes, 1 huntsman Sniper?, 1 soldier, 1 scoutish class, 2 melee heavies, 1 medic, and a gun spy...
I could be wrong though.

I suppose saying that it was almost identical was a bit of an overstatement.. The huntsman sniper looks crazy fun though, wall climbs and all!
i was about to open a thread for this, looks interesting, looking forward to try it hoping it'll support competitive scene...
I can see similarities from tf2 smnc and dirty bomb, which are all great games as far as i'm concerned. if there's any company that can compete with valve's CSGO, I guess Blizzard would be it. really hope they add a MOBA-like game mode, was really fun in SMNC.
Now I'm sad that I can't fly as TF2 medic.
Looks interesting, though I worry that Blizzard will apply the "pay to unlock new heroes" model to it.

Game modes: Payload and Point Capture. Sounds familiar.
If anyone else were releasing this game I'd pass on it. I'm sure Blizzard will be pumping big money into this. LFT as the huge gorilla.
I've played about an hours worth today. It's not really comparable to TF2, but it's a shitload of fun. You guys will enjoy it.
Idk why people are comparing this to dirty bomb. It doesn't even look similar graphically, let alone the gameplay.
I watched a few ability videos and I think the game will be a clusterfuck. Every ability seems it kills in 1 hit or very fast. Some AoE abilities (huntsman's dragon ghost) cover the entire screen just look completely retarded. The art direction is also really unappealing but that's subjective so it doesn't really matter. Then we still have to see the payment model. Judging by HOTS this will once again be a LoL-style 5 free hero rotation and then $5-10 per hero. I'm betting the game succeeds just because it's Blizzard and maybe the beta will change my opinion but right now it doesn't look interesting.

While I personally probably won't end up playing it, it's nice to see something that isn't a MOBA or a gritty grey-brown super-realistic molasses FPS.
I love the inclusion of other cultures into the game. If it takes off I wouldn't hesitate to play in the early stages of a game's competitive scene.

Is it already in alpha and letting people in, or were you at the event or something?

dirtybomb is like cs mixed with cod. this game is more like tf2 mixed with super monday night combat.
According to official website, each of the characters has several abitilies (even ultimate one), which makes it closer to RPGs or anything else, but not TF2.
A team-based shooter with a female announcer, objectives, comic style and rock-paper-scissor classes like spies, huntsman snipers and engineers with teleporters & sentries is in no way similar to tf2. I only hope it's going to have dedicated servers.

Before even reading this thread, this is about what I said to myself when watching the trailer, only difference being the dude with the hammer is just a big demoknight with the medics MvM shield.
I wonder if Blizzard is purposely aiming for the TF2 audience. The casual TF2 scene is still really big, and would be a good jumping off point for the game. I'm sure Blizzard would love to get back at Valve for the whole Dota 2 fiasco, if only a little.
EDIT: Just noticed why a lot of you guys will obviously love this game. No pyro.

If Overwatch is actually good, and has lots of funding and support for a competitive scene, maybe it would constitute the push necessary for Valve to improve their product (I.E. finally give support to the competitive community) and adapt.
But if Blizzard poured money into creating a good competitive community for Overwatch, and did it successfully while Valve stood by and did nothing with TF2's competitive community, I would be incredibly upset.
This all assumes that this game is actually good enough and well-supported enough competitively to take people away from TF2, but that could easily be the case.

The trailer looked fun as hell. The sniper chick the the grappling hook seems so fun. I'd like to see this game take off even if its just something to do when i'm trying to not burn out on tf2.
valve will obv support tf2 now now that blizzard is competing against tf2 and doto :^)

Don't think valve cares about Heroes of the Storm. Hell, they're going to probably outdo Blizzard's map making/UMS considering how shit SC2's scene is without trying.
Overwatch will be interesting though. Wonder how much of Titan got ported over to Overwatch.
