whos hating? I'm saying nobody else is willing to take the risk of using it as a profession so there's nobody else that's going to put in the amount of time and dedication it'll take to 1up him in ESEA/CEVO.

It's not like b4nny is the sole reason that team is so dominant. Every player on that team performs well. Replacing b4nny with a scout with invite DM will weaken the team but I still think they'd win lan.

On the whole "TF2 profession" thing. The guy is young, finished with college, and is enjoying himself. If he still finds the game fun, he should do him. If it's not about the money, it's not about the money.

@62 your second paragraph is beyond misleading/incorrect.

and as far as your first paragraph sure, teams could definitely beat them, but half of mixup quit this season, hes not the sole reason theyre good, but that wasn't the point to which I was responding, I was replying to post 58's "godlike" and "discouraging" post.

saying hes unbeatable is a joke, but saying there is an invite team that will out-practice him with 100 hrs of this game every two weeks is also a joke.

When can we expect Grand Final VODs to be uploaded? I had to work early this morning.

flamewhos hating? I'm saying nobody else is willing to take the risk of using it as a profession so there's nobody else that's going to put in the amount of time and dedication it'll take to 1up him in ESEA/CEVO.

So because no one else is willing to put in the time, means its OK to post public disapproval of his accomplishments?

"I'm never going to be as good, nor will I try to be as good as b4nny, though I'm sour when he continues to win LAN."

OK so I get it. Its OK to shit on someone else's parade if they possess something that you're not able to obtain. This "don't congratulate froyo, and downfrag those who do" mindset fragments the community, when it should be giving people drive to study them.

Which is why in my first post I suggested that the invite community seems to pass off b4nnys skill in the game as 'time = skill' and I believe that anyone has the capability if they could get through mental blocks and be willing to learn something from him. I mean... Obviously the guy is doing something right.

Everyone dreams they can beat b4nny at LAN but nobody seems to try and beat him at his own game, they just keep trying to push a round peg through a square whole.

Seriously though, who's hating? I haven't seen anyone shitting on 4G's victory. Some people just wanted to see someone else but b4nny win but I haven't seen any hostility towards 4G at all.

im actually not shit talking or taking away from anything.

clocks one my best friends irl and i have nothing but respect for bannys dm and game ability.

i overall was disappointed with the quality of the event though. the lan being scheduled at the same time as IEM LoL, IEM SC2, and The Summit 2 for Dota 2 made it the worst possible streaming conditions to attract new viewers.

Then on top of that that the quality of the games were meh at best. elevate tried their best, but theyre not on the same level as froyo it seems and mixup showed up with a pug team, their 4th? iteration of mixup of the season?

It was hard to hype the games this weekends, and I hardly doubt anybody that played at the LAN felt the outcome wasnt pretty predictable.

I thought the quality of the street hoops. elevate, and mix^ games were all really good. Definitely the closest ESEA lan I've watched in terms of spread out competition over the 4 teams.

That doesn't mean the games weren't close.

Nobody denies that banny's really good or hates him/froyo. At the same time, nobody is really willing to put in the amount of time that banny does. 4+ hours of tf2 is a big commitment of time for little payout. Like flame said, winning lan is ~300-600 after travel. It's barely worth matching his play time to win when you have other time commitments. That's not saying that you should only be playing to win. I'm saying that taking it from an enjoyable ~2 hours every night to a profession of 4+ hours a day is not financially rewarding (that is, if you can bear to play the game for more than 2 hours at a time).

It would be fun to see somebody else win but nothing's wrong with playing a game with friends a few hours a couple nights a week. The invite fee is like paying for any other hobby you'd be doing.

i got to meet cool gamers and saw good vidya. im glad i went. but i thought it was the tf2 finals that were at one. woke up at 10:45 and they were already two rounds into the second map. Got to watch in on stream at a friends house though.

10/10, would bring folding chairs next time.

one thing that players should take away from all this, when it comes to lan ESEA isn't all its cracked up to be. yeah obviously its official but that doesn't mean it makes for the best games possible, also nothing great from a spec pov

with csgo, dreamhack>esea

with tf2, insomnia>esea. international tf2 is so much better especially when you have teams from na, aus, eu etc playing on lan

I think the most enjoyable fCtor of the insomnia lan was the awesome prediction cameras, seeing sheeps headshota live, yukis airshots, seagulls jumps really made it exciting. If we can also perfect that camera work then even GXL can become as enjoyable to watch as esea

I liked the costumes.

Maybe if valve sees this, they can start introducing e-sport items, in the same way CS:GO has stickers, which would make it a little bit more financially viable to play tf2. Or more importantly would stop the amount of bitching going on about how much tf2 b4nny plays.

On a more serious note the games were actually really enjoyable to watch, the fights throughout the event including the grand final were hard fought, long, scrappy, and exciting. In all honestly even though no match went to 3 maps it was still far better to watch than any game/tournament of Dota, CS:GO, League of Legends or Star Craft 2.

The numbers don't lie either, even just a couple years ago it was a miracle to have 1,000 people watching lan finals, today the numbers nearly broke 4,000 (maybe it did, wasn't watching the viewer stats that closely).

In summation, everyone should have an excuse to put 4+ hours a day into tf2 when you can wear platinum's face on your ass in a pub.

Me and tsc are getting the okays from all the teams before we release the skin packs. I'm not sure if he's planning on releasing the StatusSpec assets used in the LAN cast too.

I can, however, confirm the skins will also come with 4K's of these:

We'll be releasing a thread later with more info. Currently, we're waiting on responses from froyotech and eLevate (so if you want you can go bug a certain world champion about that to get it done faster, but you didn't hear that from me). I'm also working on overhauling the fwdcp site so that we'll can post a massive FAQ there, but my lack of graphic design skills means that it's not going well.
