If any new teams would like team mentoring, I would be down to do it whenever I have the time. I know personally that when I first started, I improved the most in terms of positioning and calling when tyrone and anonemouse used to do team mentoring. Just add me and I'll do my best to help.

marketpokemonizepicWere getting smashed 5-0 every single match, we do well in scrims but something always doesnt click during the match, either 1/2 people have 160 ping, or someone chockes, or someone is sick. Pretty demoralizing when you know you can do better as a team
dont complain about ping when we offered to switch and u guys didnt want to
He wasn't talking about this match, Pokemon gets good ping except in every esea server, we apreciate you offering a switch but we didn't think that would change the outcome, and I think you would agree

Is it common for teams to sandbag in IRC?
I always ask for low open scrims.
In the past three weeks, we've scrimmed two IM teams, one high open team running two huntsman snipers, and an invite team (all of whom said they were low open to scrim us). The only one I recognized before we started was the invite team, who, when asked why the fuck they were trying to scrim a low open team, said something along the lines of "we aren't going to try hard."
I don't know about anyone else, but I personally think this is kinda ridiculous :/
Our team only has time for 2 or 3 scrims a night, and it's frustrating when people waste our time with 5-0 rolls. Not sure if the other team is looking to screw around, or just get a confidence boost or something, but we are all pretty tired of it (especially since we already get 5-0'd against any mid open teams).
At this point I should probably go memorize the names of everyone in invite, IM, and high open.
[/rant]
I've been trying to find other low open teams to schedule scrims with, with very little success. I am quite sure I am shitty at scheduling, but it seems weird that of the approx. five other teams I try to scrim regularly, only one is ever available more than like one night a week.
If you consider yourself a very low open team, feel free to add me.
Confirmation that we aren't secretly an invite team looking to waste your time.

You can always add team leaders/schedulers yourself on steam and schedule your scrims in advance. Since your team is ranked 46, the likely hood of teams in the lower half of open(25-58) will very likely be around your skill level. Due to the nature of eSports players and their introverted yet competitive mindset most won't go out of their way to add you for scrims since they want to get better rather than sit comfortably in their current ranking. So my advice is to add team leaders near your skill level according to the ESEA rankings. IRC is usually a last minute resort for finding teams near your skill level due to the amount of people that actually play this game. Divs with lower number of teams(invite,IM) almost always schedule their scrims in advance to avoid having to play non-ideal esport teams.
tl;dr: schedule with low open leaders. irc only if you're desperate

Of the bottom half of teams in open, only 12 have contact info for scheduling. I had already added the four closest to our team, in addition to some other low open teams lacking contact info I found through IRC.
I'm going to go add some of the other 12 now, the mid open ones.
Thanks for your advice.

Why would you want to play any more on esea servers than you absolutely have to
The ESEA scrim servers seem to have some interesting features that could potentially be useful, plus I'm paying for this so if it can be taken advantage of we might as well try to.
And practicing the conditions that we'll have to play might help a little bit.

I remember when I first started playing. Played a lot of teams which were way over our experience (but that is how you learn as a team) or were trying to troll.
One thing you can do is tell them you're a newer team and would like a link to their team page. And like steve said, add team leaders. Then you can just message people when looking for scrims too if IRC doesn't give anything helpful.

Not necessarily you.
-The inconsistency in terms of roster
-Lack of map review after our first week
-No Demo reviews
-Not pushing off of advantages in an efficient manner
-Useless comms in certain situations
-Combo had little cohesion
That's the criteria for a team destined to either fail, or be really loose.

yikes guys, get in a mumble and hash that out, a public forum is a shitty place for the rest of your team to find out what you think is wrong with them :-[
plinkoAlso, while I'm posting here - I'm pretty sure that a bunch of people posting in this thread are on teams that would qualify for the UGC->ESEA challenge prize. There are about 8 teams in it, but there have to be some more that are eligible but didn't apply.
I said I'd cut off applications at the end of week 2 of the ESEA season but I've been pre-occupied with other stuff and never chased for more applicants.
So, if you think this thread is talking to you/your team, hop on over and consider applying. If you talk with me on steam/PM me on the forums by Wednesday night, I'll extend the deadline for you. I know the "rules" are a little wonky, but if you're all/mostly brand new, you're probably eligible and it will definitely give your team something to play for in the back half of the season.
Are you gonna post up a list somewhere later so we can follow rankings? :> im pumped
