I'm in need of a relatively cheap mouse since my Deathadder black's left click is barely working now after a couple years. I've looked into the Abyssus before and apparently it had a few issues related to firmware I think which makes me hesitant. There's a newer version but that one uses Synapse which has its own issues apparently. Does anyone using an Abyssus currently care to chime in? Would the newer one actually be better?
I've used my Abyssus for over a year now, and I've never had any problems with it.
i read that the new abyssus had a bunch of issues related to the drivers
my old one is still working after a couple months, apparently others have mushy mouse buttons after long term use
get a g100s or something probably more reliable (and i kind of like the shape a bit more)

I've used mine for over a year and a half and it's a pretty good mouse. The only problem I had was that my mouse wheel wouldn't work properly with the Synapse drivers, but I ditched the Synapse drivers and it works perfectly fine. Also, one of the mouse feet is just recently starting to come off, but other than that, I like the Abyssus a lot. I'm not sure about the new Abyssus though.
I own 3 versions: the regular abyssus, mirror version, and 2014 version
the regular abyssus has high LOD and jitter
the mirror version (gross coating aside) worked well for me until the left click stopped working after ~3-4 months
the 2014 version has been alright so far, but with a few caveats:
- the DPI won't stick for me without running synapse
- you need to update the firmware to fix the by-default low malfunction speed
- high LOD on some mousepads that you can fix it by sticking a piece of semitransparent scotch tape over the sensor
that said, I do really like the shape and price point

ive owned 3 abyssuses and theyve all been jittery pieces of shit
i use a g100s and i can confirm that it's pretty fucking nice
The jitter I experienced on the old mirror one went away on a hard pad. The buttons are pretty bad, but I like the shape and it's super light. Only having 3 buttons is a minor inconvenience if you're used to having thumb buttons. I got mine for about $8 a few years ago and I'd say it's been worth it.

I've looked around and there's plenty of people complaining about jitter for both of the mice and there's just as many saying the sensor's perfect so I'm just going to have to try it my self to see what happens. I'll try the Abyssus first since it already has the 450DPI step that I use and if it doesn't work I'll just return it and try the G100s. I thought about the 2014 version but I don't think I'm really willing to shell out the money for it right now.

Squid gave me his regular abyssus after my mirror stopped working. I had the same problem as enigma, the left click just wouldn't work anymore but it lasted 1-2 years. I do like the regular finish better than the mirror. Really like the shape of the mouse.
Just got it in the mail and first thought is I'm definitely liking the shape. Even more so than the WMO I would probably be using if I hadn't left it at home. I haven't had TF2 installed for a couple months now so I can't try it there but on the desktop I'm not noticing any issues with the sensor @ 450 DPI.
i got the new abyssus and there were some really noticeable issues with the sensor esp with the driver messing everything up. i had the old abyssus non-mirror version and it was perfect. if you do some research, the jitter issues only exist with the older builds. they fixed it after a while so if you go on amazon and get one now you should be fine.

I swear I don't have Parkinsons
I swear I don't have Parkinsons
I have the new abyssus and I really like it, I have no problems with stuttering or anything at all. Have synapse installed as well. The scroll wheel is really strong as well which I really like.

I guess the quality of these <$40 mice can be a toss up. How long ago did you buy yours?

I bought mine around 10 months ago and I had no issues with it until about 5 months ago
KapowwCrunk it could be your mousepad
Yeah the picture I showed isn't even the worst of it. That's with my qck tilted 90 degrees. The jitter makes the mouse literally unusable when I orient it normally.

I have had the abyssus original and abyssus mirror for almost 3 years now. The mirror is slightly lighter than the original and both have worked great in all this time. One note though is to clean the little slits on the sides, because a lot of detritus accumulates there. Also no side buttons, just a basic three button mouse with an incredible sensor. Only real downside is the lit up razer triskelion (blue because i'm a boy NOT A GIRL) on the back side which looks kind of childish. Would not recommend for a palm gripper, ideal for claw/finger finger tip grip. Would recommend a cloth mouse pad because the sensor is very sensitive and will jitter on non-uniform surfaces. Finally I don't use synapse or any razer driver gunk, and it works great.

If it does screw up that soon I'll definitely abuse the fuck out of the warranty as much as I can. It's 2 years so you could probably get yourself another free Abyssus if you wanted.

Although that video is quite old, he stated that it only happened when he placed it on a certain part of his mousepad.

my abyssus was just like that
on certain parts of the mousepad it'd just jitter randomly all over the place
i dont use it anymore cuz both the buttons are nothing but mush
