pl3xSecondly, HL is the future of comp TF2. Valve will NOT, imo, support fully any competitive option that blocks so much of their game. I would think that they would rather have all of the classes in play at once, each showcasing their own important traits, especially if they're going to show comp to newer players. I mean, if you have valid reasons, pull em out and let's have another thread-long debate about it, but in another thread, and I think that argument has played out too many times for it to be useful.
Let's not presume to know what Valve will or will not do. For all we know they're wiling to make major balance changes in order to promote the usage of classes because they realize that Highlander is not logistically feasible as a major format.

TechDudeFix the muting of game audio when playing on bball maps.
When this happens you can hear the announcer at full volume, but all shots etc are very muted. The sound usually fixes itself after 5 minutes.
This is a problem with the bball mod and not the game itself, please keep this thread to things that are Valve's responsibility only.
Also add the ability to watch SourceTV demos serverside. That is, having a SourceTV demo loaded onto the server via RCon commands and the server ftp makes it so everyone in the server can watch the demo, synchronized with the server. It is more difficult to implement than most of the bugfixes here, but this feature would could be ported to other source engine games and would be an extremely useful feature for competitive teams in all Valve-created games, not just TF2.

An option to remove the laser dot when you're scoped in. If the obscured vision(a laser sight which makes it harder to hit things, ha) is seen as a "gameplay element", then at least center the thing properly on the crosshair.

Make the options menu easier to navigate, specifically "advanced options." For a section that has so much packed into it that many players use (hitsounds, damage numbers, etc.) it's an extremely small window that you have to scroll through all of the options.
In-game options on damage number settings (size and color) would also make the default hud more viable.

Most stuff has already mentioned but whatevs:
- Improved default menu (this might mean we can't have custom ones but who cares) so that they also show any streamers currently playing TF2, I'd happily accept this if having a standardised was put in place.
- As others mentioned, better menu navigation in terms of settings (CSGO style), perhaps making some of the settings that are clearly beneficial to have made default.
- Improve the default hud to include target ID hp, it's so stupid that this isn't already in the game by default.
- Optimisations, not sure if this is gonna happen with source 2 but we really shouldn't have to run FPS configs to make the game run better. It really poops on new players that come to the game and see it runs like poop most of the time.
- Clearer particles would be a big help, not on just the FPS side but also visually, maybe it's not so important for 6's but when I pub it's really annoying to have all these particle effects just flying everywhere, unusuals, that heavy fire shitty weapon etc. Having a way to turn off any unnecessary particles or having the quality loaded with a certain option would be swell.
- Improve anything that will make watching STVs a lot smoother, remove play back bugs after pauses etc.
- Remove shit clipping from maps that stop explosions doing damage because of a 1 pixel ledge.
- This is just a personal preference, but in terms of cosmetics it would be good if there were more subtle ones, I like how there's different versions of stock items like botkillers, golds etc. so some new ones would be pretty good instead of just new hats etc. I know it doesn't affect comp but it would be awesome if that was actually a thing :D

SamytsiNerf rocket splash (soldier 2 ez)
ye lets get scouts even more op after nerfing demo good idea.
on topic:crosshair outlines/better demoui and fov are the obvious ones that come into mind. i think if they "fix" the fov they shouldn't make it 110, 130 so no one is whining anymore. airblast not taking momentum would be really really nice to play but i don't think it would actually be "fun" or usefull to play pyro anymore cause youre already a shit class with 1 gimmick.

One really cosmetic thing, but if it won't be able to be made, I'll understand:
- Add a command to change the viewmodels for the weapons which ones were affected the most to the ones before Love & War update

it would be kind of nice to have the option to choose different viewmodels fovs for the different weapons and classes without having to rebind your keys or using a crosshair switcher
oh and the crouch jump screen tear someone mentioned here before, ppl have gotten used to it, but it would still be nice to see this fixed

If they did that they should probably also fix how instant that is for moving hitboxes, but if they did that Sniper would be OP.

Better tutorials for new players.
Streams + upcoming matches on main menu.
Bugfix maps (minimise splash bugs, improve clipping, make railings non-solid to projectiles/bullets, blockbullet stairs, make stuff on ceilings non-solid so you don't get stuck on a lamp when bombing a medic, don't remove hiding spots like you did on granary, etc.)

also fix the weird screen jitter when strafing into someone

not to harp on some silly 6s supremacy thing, but if some kind of competitive mode ever does come to tf2 i think it would be best to have a relatively low player count. nine dudes is organizational hell, and too many of the maps in the game seem cramped with like 3 people in every entrance to every area

I think an ingame change log would also be a good idea for the main menu.Add a button like they do with the Event's tab or hell each update just update the tab to flash when their is an update.

-protoFix all players and props becoming invisible when viewmodel_fov is set to -360/360 after a short period of time.
Fix tracers not being disabled/game crashing with viewmodel_fov set to 0.
This is probably not a big deal for many, but people who played without tracers and viewmodels for years are getting fucked over right now.
Valve specifically stated in patch notes a couple weeks ago to stop using viewmodel_fov 0 to disable viewmodels. Use r_drawviewmodel instead, and the brand new command r_drawtracers_firstperson 0 to disable self tracers.
See the Feb 11 patch notes for more info.
EDIT: Apparently I can't see when you posted, but considering the thread was started on the 9th, my apologies if you posted before this patch.

I know this is more of a "suggestion thread", but sometimes when I play STV demos my hats are missing (recorded on an offline server where I can see my own hats in-game, but not in the demo). Is there a fix for this? :P

I really want them to add a feature to open the Scoreboard while watching pov Demo, why is that not a thing?

pov demos record YOUR povs so don't have info on other players ie. no scoreboard.

Teapot_pov demos record YOUR povs so don't have info on other players ie. no scoreboard.
fun fact: pov demos also "carry" your cfg with the demo, so pretty much every setting / gfx option you have in your cfg will be executed when you play a pov demo on your or even another computer. Reason why it's important to use an alternate config (through lawena etc) when recording other people demos or even old demos of you (that might have outdated settings), because the demo will overwrite them.

I'm no expert on this, but do you think having 128-tick competitive (or even any other server) servers would improve registry? Or is that just a csgo thing

128 servers always improves, no matter the game, its more times the server and your computer interact which is great.

My b if it was said already but it'd be cool if teammates didn't absorb rockets or deflect pipes or stickies. It's not really a huge deal but it's still pretty annoying.
And a client-side command to turn off hats being dropped as world models when people die.
